I ID'ed the little 4 oz BP hammer it's a Cheney "Railroad Finish". not much of the name left but got enough to tie it in.

I also got the Goodel Pratt reversing collar freed up (Break free did it quick) but now it doesn't want to go back to forward so may need more time/lube...

Honestly didn't pay much attention to the contents. Will try and dig thru what's in it tonight

Highly varied assortment of brands but not much that looks made in this century

One of three local sales scored tool stuff today, some of it free, the rest inexpensive. The two toolboxes were cheap Taiwan stuff, but I like blue toolboxes. The set of four casters are Made in USA, as is the 3/8” ID air hose. The Husky mini vac has got to be better than my cheap Shop Vac portable one, which is only good for dust, a single leaf can clog it.

Saturday purchases (sorry, I like posting tools after cleaning, but work is busy this weekend and I have some boxes which need cleaning from before...)

1. Bonney MEB18LH wrench ($5) ... Please do not ask me what 18mm is used for - I will blame Bonney thread for seeing long metric set of one of the members and getting interested... ? Complete this set in next 10 years? (I never see long Bonney metric hex wrenches...)

2. SK Wayne 45170 ratchet
SK Wayne 3/8 sockets: 3/8, 5/8, 11/16, ¾, 7/8
SK knurled ½ drive 40140 1 ¼ socket
SK knurled ½ drive deep 5/8 socket
OTC ½ drive sockets 15/16, 1 1/8, 1 ¼
Blackhawk D39 1 1/8 (1/2 drive)
PLVMB ½ drive 9/16
PROTO ½ drive 8 point 9/16 and5/8 sockets

KD 831 window regulator removal tool for MOPAR 1955-1962
OTC wrench 11/16-25/32
Alpha Romeo 11-15mm DOE
Small socket box - ? possibly SK (?From 4097 set, post5098 in SK by Don)
Craftsman =V= 3/8 hinge bar (missing in a set which I will eventually complete)

Green tray – unknown origin, but fits my SK Red Tool Wagon shelf which had 2 trays (few mm narrower, not the same width and height, but the best for now…. At some point I will have to ask somebody to manufacture 2 trays for me…)

5 + 15 + 0.99 gas = 20.99

Freudianfloyd definitely ***** for that belt grinder.I looked in vein for that model for years.
Since you probably know more about these sanders than me, can you tell me what the model number is? There is absolutely no tags on the sander itself and I need to order a couple parts.

Nice Elora 4”! That box is full of old gems. Looks like a bunch of WWII era hose clamp sockets.

What I think I’m seeing next to the spinner handle everyone is talking about, a Utica pitol grip plier!?

IIRC not much better, pretty disappointing when using. Haven't found one I really like until you get to the Ridgid 2-1/2 gallon, which isn't quite as portable. Suprisingly my $99 Makita 18V stick vac isn't bad, but we put a lot of spiral aluminum shavings into short nap commercial carpet, which it struggles with.

Don't know why, but around here starting this time of year and into the fall it often seems when the "man sales" start to pop up in earnest.
Nothing to show for a couple of Friday sales including a large family run estate sale with a barn full of man stuff. Unfortunately looked decidedly picked over by the family. Looked very promising but ended up being a dud.

From Saturday sales

Private estate sale with a small amount of tools. Picked up some pliers for $5, Channellock and Crescent all USA made.

full

From a private estate sale of what I understood to be a small engine mechanic. $45 for everything from that sale.
Snap-On hammer and SAE line wrenches.

full

Snap-On moon wrenches with a couple supposedly for Cummins engines. Craftsmans USA reversible ratcheting metric wrenches. Miscellaneous Snap-On wrenches in mostly metric.

From a pro estate sale, a set of metric Craftsman USA double box wrenches for $20.

All in all a good weekend picking.

I went downstate to visit my mother, and hit a few sales on the way:
54756234231_d71f995b9c_b.jpg
Ideal lead pot, Stanley No. 90J, Cornwell partial chisel set, Crescent (Wright) partial deep socket set, Simmons files.

An out-of-box experience:
54756572040_fabf456599_b.jpg
There was also a Klein adjustable spud wrench, but it got lost in the depths of my truck.

The pyramid toaster was $2 it looks nickle plated from the bottom? faintly from the top? its certainly the most rust free one I've seen from in the wild. $5 for the 1 gallon Kerosene oil can, no rust inside! some other stuff needs cleaned out but its decent and shoudl clean up fine, much better than most I see.

I had a decent day today. I havent been to any yard sales in a while, and after the Springfield Swap Meet turned out to be a bust, I stopped at a few on the way home and found some goodies.

Paid $12 for the Snap on air drill, Ingersoll Rand 1/2" Titanium impact.

Then paid a total of $23 for the brand new in box transfer punches, two sets of Vise Grip locking pliers, Channellock pliers, a Mac stubby phillips screwdriver and two Snap On flat screwdrivers. (One may not be Snap on, I cant find markings on it, but it was with the other Snap on screwdriver so Im assuming.)

1000017553.jpg

I then found d my best deal of the day a Kalamazoo belt sander with Baldor motor for a whopping $5. Runs good, just needs a new wheel and sanding belts and good cleaning.
1000017554.jpg

I have a Baldor like that out in the garage. Will look and post the model no if needed

I appreciate it, but specifically need the Kalamazoo parts. Mainly the bottom pulley (drive wheel). But if you have those part numbers that would be great.

Could it be this???

I've had this on the wish list for at least a year. A Kalamazoo 2FSM 2 X 48 sander. Decided I needed to buy it so I could stop thinking about it, if you know what I mean (and I think you do). I'm planning on running a dedicated maroon Scotch-brite belt.

I used my last cast-iron pedestal from a small hoard I had accumulated. Fabbed a cover for the unused switch opening and an interface plate for the top. A thin neoprene sheet for surface mating and vibration damping.

A couple adjustments to my sander area and it's ready to join the sanding family.

I found that by doing a basic search (across the whole site) for "Kalamazoo." Lots of threads came up, maybe those will help if you try that.

BTW, You **** for that entire haul!!!

Mike

It never occurred to me to put a hammer on my magnifying glass! I wonder if I could fit one on a camera lens?
It does seem risky but I guess that rubber gasket should keep it from blowing out.

Also to add the the joke, I feel like adding a 4x scope to the hammer drill or something and a laser sight to the 1/4 impact would actually gain traction despite the utility.

Very slow and eventually hot day for the "main event day"; either stupid $$ pricing or stuff I have, or don't want. youngest daughter bought more than I did. she did stock up on thread from the same thread bin I hit yesterday, for "fill a gallon baggie for $2" -filled one with thread (I tossed in a couple too) and another with cloth. - no pics of that.

We started at 65 deg at 6:30 AM over ninety 5 hours (and 5+ miles) later,

I got a second 6 muffin pan for $2, (not the same brand as my first, but they nest, so might as well be..) these fit the Coleman camp ovens so all is good there. Plomb LA, (round "O" this time) slip joint water pump pliers and Proto LA "pebble" combos for a buck for both.

muffin-tray-Plomb-WP-pliers-Proto-LA-pebble-combos.jpg

And a Tin lamp shade (the wire and dangley socket get scrapped) for $10 - this will land on a GPA gas mantle lamp - too big for a lantern.

Definitely a small step up. Was able to take a eucalyptus leaf without plugging the hose. Little victories. And maybe I can recoup my investment in the ShopVac based on the name brand.

@loganb - You ****.

Myself, hit the ReStore a couple-few times this week (it has been a long week), but half my pictures are not uploading. Still.

A couple of pipe wrenches (one ETF, one M-something), a handful of sockets, and a pair of wire cutters that are very dimly marked <U><TI><CA> under the pivot and BELL SYSTEM above.
socketswrench.jpgbell-utica.jpg

Also a ball peen hammer that makes an amazing difference when trying to hammer copper rivets.
pein.jpgsteel.jpgpatent.jpg

It's marked "RDY PATENT / 'CK Co Ld / SHEFFIELD" (alright, technically the last line is more PFIELD but I felt pretty comfortable with that guess), which I am figuring means it was made by the Hardy Patent Pick Co Ltd, sometime between 1891 and 1930.

(Other pictures later, when I am less tired.)

Just scored this pretty nice 1/2” deep 6 points Williams socket set in a Proto socket rail. The set is 1/2 - 1 1/8” with a spare 9/16 and 2- 1/2”. The S-52 ratchet has a wing cast in the selector and has rubber wrapped handle. Im guessing a lineman’s set also by the bag they came in. Surprisingly saw them on Craigslist, haven’t got anything off there in forever! $20 for the set.

Pick up this afternoon thanks to FBM. Union B-20 Machinist Chest 1933-41. No key but it is the lock series/key available (A50M16) from Gerstner. I may order felt from Gerstner just to offset shipping cost. Handful of tools broken combo head, center finder head, mikes, indicators, taps, drill bits. A quick wipe down and this my stay right on the desk.
