Anyone know how you can tell whether a Facom 440 was France manufactured or Czech manufactured?

Just curious...

Old 40's had "france" on them, looked a might bit different than the new ones that look like the toptul wrenches. If it doesn't have "france" on the tool, from my understanding, it's coo is questionable. ultimate garage has some older wrenches available, just have to sift through the site and read the description, he'll tell you if they are made in france or not.

Is there considerable quality differences between Facom 440 wrenches made by the French from those of made by the Czechs?

My newer, post Stanely offsets "feel" different than older combos I have. Different body w/ rounded, I guess "hollow" casting, compared to the satin inverted body of the older series. I don't think quality is any different, but I haven't seen the whole line to compare old to new. Monte may have more input on old vs. new in "old world" thread. 90% of my Facom is old stock SK day stuff, which I like.

I do not, however, like the feel of my newer mini metric double open wrenches, they look and feel like the cheap asian dollar store tool kit wrenches we all love. the machining seems fine, but the weight is light and the chrome is fast and dirty. They work fine and do the job though, so function doesn't seem to have been compromised. They are also strong, when I first got them, I was unhappy, then I tried to bend a 7mm in a vise and couldn't do it, but i didn't put my whole back into it.

Are there 440 series french made wrenches ????? I thought the new 440 series were already outsourced when they were introduced. And the old 40 series from france , later italy or Taiwan.
