If you are a woodworker, make a modern base and use it for a table top. If you are a metal worker, do it in iron.Sometimes you just have to play the hand you’re dealt. A lot of retail priced “antique” sales around this weekend. Took a chance on one with limited pictures. Lots of tools but nothing I needed. I did for some reason buy this piece of bullet resistant acrylic that came out of a local bank for $5. 48x37x15”. Outside of shooting at it, someone tell me there is a good use for it lol. Also $1 for seafoam and gasket remover.

You **** for that haul @freudianfloyd ! Pick any one of the 3 the laser, the bandsaw or the installation driver and you are over $125. Laser looks like it's had a rough few years, hopefully it cleans up a bit. That model has a very handy micro adjust on the vertical line.
I need to find a honey hole like this. It has been a while. You found some really good stuff.

I need a 1/4” pin, 6-1/2” max diameter, 2-1/4” max gap for my medium arbor press.
I pick up any I see that are cheap.

Saw an add on fb market place the other day. Someone posted a mohawk dp (sans correct motor and belt guard) nearby my house so hopped right on it. The pictures were not very good but I have yet to see one in my area that's even presentable or not beat to absolute scrap metal. I ran over to the house and actually paid more than the asking price because it was so clean! The inside has some saw dust in it but other than that, it hardly shows much use. No arch of shame on the table! Unfortunately someone drilled into the side of the head to mount a switch but other than that, it's a really nice one! Even the water slide decal is in good shape! Now I just need to clean it and put new bearings in it and then find a belt cover for it. Model 103.0303 so we know it's king seely made. It did come with a wooden base that I didn't want and it has since been sold to bring the total cost on the beauty of $0

I have been poking at online estate sales recently, and hit a garage sale on the way to pick up something today.
At the garage sale: $10 for an old toolbox. The owner said it was his when he was a teenager and just starting to work, in the 70s. Front is stuck, but top opens no problem. And hey, there's a DOE Dreadnaught and he tossed in the C-clamp for free. I will see what's in the rest of it later.
For $5: small toolbox and contents, caliper with case, scissors, hammer, and two carpet knives.
(The lot included a record rack, a chair with a swing-down stepstool, and a peach basket. I dropped all those off at the local ReStore.)
And... goddamit, the pictures will not load, so I will say @Smokeshow69 you **** and try again.

Today was a once in a blue moon type of sale.
My wife found some yardsales yesterday for us to go to today. On the way to the first sale, we passed a sale we didnt know about but it was a sale so we stopped.
On one table there were a few single tools, and random stuff I had no interest in. My wife started at the other side of the sale and said "there are lots of tools over there...." so I headed that way. Lots of Milwaukee, Dewalt, Snap on, Hilti, etc. And I had to double check some of the prices to make sure I was reading them right.
Brand new Milwaukee portaband deep cut, Milwaukee laser, Milwaukee drill/driver set, all with good batteries. Snap on ratchets, wrenches, extensions, etc. I walked through it several times debating on spending all my money at this sale, or going to the others. We actually left for a little while so I could feed my wife, and to try to find the first yardsale we were looking for, but wound up coming back and buying a few more things.

Inside the toolbox was full of Snap on, Mac, and misc. brands. Other than the 3/4" Armstrong breaker bar, this is what was in the box.

Someone with a hydraulic hammer on an excavator could use the panel to protect their windshield from rock chips. It is likely polycarbonate, not acrylic. Wow, all in looks like you had a good day.
Beware of the Kennedy cantilever box. They are very easy to load to the point where you can't lift them. I've seen a few with a welded together cart underneath to roll them.

This happened to be on your side of town in Roseville. 2 different FBM sellers made it logical, had a bit more business on that side and had lunch with a friend.

I am starting the battery show at Cobo tomorrow, so I probably won’t hit any sales for a while.

Did some good pickin over the weekend. First item is a Starrett No. 62 Rule holder. These things are crazy priced and I was finally able to track one down locally at way under the money. Seller was a true gentleman. Next items all came from the same sale, all were priced at $7 ea except the Craftsman tape (Free) and the B&S mic ($2) . Most of the sockets are vintage Proto 1/2 drive & a few New Britan. The Challenger box had a full set of clutch drive and two Millers Falls mystery items. The USA CDI (Chicago Dial indicator) set was a nice bonus. Very nice condition with a few extra tips as well. Short Proto box is all V series Craftsman + a 11/16 deep 12 point SK and Napa 1-1/4.

Picked up these 2 Proto tools, the ball joint separator and this bird cage for $30 on Friday. My wife has already put the bird cage into decorative use. The bird cage got me some major points when I found it. You would be surprised at what some of these cages sell for.

Again, I look at FBMarketplace too much. BUT! Sometimes it is totally worth it, as it saves me money (and will probably make me money...)
I was casually looking at what lathes are for sale right now, and found someone about an hour south of me selling a large lot of lathe parts and tooling, Looking over the ad, I see a bunch of things that could be for the lathe I am restoring right now, along with a lot of other stuff that is worth a decent amount. All it said was "make offer" and it had been up for two days, so I sent them an offer and a note stating that I do not know if it works for my lathe, but I was interested. They responded in a minute saying OK and when do we meet.
Here is what I got, for $100:
backing plate, centers, tailstock chuck, half dozen Armstrong style tool holders, Palmgren milling attachment, tin of HSS, etc.
8" four jaw, set of change gears
tailstock with lamp attached, Mitotoyo mag base and dial, and underneath is a steady rest.
Some is directly for my Montgomery Wards Logan, some isn't, but it is all good.
I was casually looking at what lathes are for sale right now, and found someone about an hour south of me selling a large lot of lathe parts and tooling, Looking over the ad, I see a bunch of things that could be for the lathe I am restoring right now, along with a lot of other stuff that is worth a decent amount. All it said was "make offer" and it had been up for two days, so I sent them an offer and a note stating that I do not know if it works for my lathe, but I was interested. Tonights haul…. Been watching these for about 2 months on FBM…. Made the seller a crazy offer of $15 and he took it…. Unused, mint 211P rounded anvil mics… 4 mi from the house. It’s been a “Good Day” ..

Finally past weekend a pro estate sale put on by a company that prices tools pretty low and strangely they also often tend to not included many photo's of tools thus often not doing justice to the extend of tools at some of their sales. The sale this weekend was a case in point, sale of a body repair guy who worked out of a nice garage/shop at his personal home and didn't see any of the usual suspects I typically see at tool heavy sales.
Anyhow the sale was heavy on MAC tools with a smattering of Snap-On and Vulcan here and there. MAC 3/8 drive torx set, Vulcan 3/8 drive SAE impact set, Vulcan 3/8" drive metric socket set with some MAC fill ins.
MAC Scrapers and Snap-On long ratcheting driver
Almost complete set of MAC metric wrenches. A few misc. Vulcan SAE wrenches
MAC, Vulcan, Fairmount & Streamline body hammers.

Todays grab…. Found this sale late last night and was able to pounce first thing this am. Saw a FBM listing for a 10 pc Indestro Select 1/2 drive 1/2 thru 1” set for $5. Got there and also picked a Stanley set of drivers for $5, a couple more Craftsman, Klien, Mac and Kobalt for another $5. Seller also had this vintage Union box for guess what? Another $5. The leather handle is in incredible condition. Got home and found another FBM post for $5 which had a 7pc 3/8 drive Snap-On Metric hex drive set along with a Craftsman SAE set & another Japan set… Think I’m done for today.

I believe I see tools that came from the factory beetle tool roll. There is the lugnut/generator pully socket, the combination pliers with the black handle, the wooden handled screwdriver with the odd longish blade, and the double ended Heyco wrench. There should be at least one more heyco wrench, a philips screwdriver (Edit: or did the old ones with wooden handles include two sizes of flat blade drivers?) and jackhandle/crossbar for the socket, that might be hidden in there.
