It has always seemed odd to me how little innovation there has been in residential electrical - maybe with the exception of Wagos, it seems like thinks have been pretty static for about the last 50 years.
Legrand Adorne? And even that is visually constrained by our standard wall box sizes.

I have some of the Legrand Adorne outlets in the kitchen - definitely more interesting than the standard decora outlets, but still confined to the 'one gang box'.

I find the concern over the cost and excess of these outlets to be pretty amusing. This is GJ and there is a whole forum here we people spend months agonizing on what to paint their garage floor with, followed by spending thousands of dollars on actually doing it. An $80 outlet is amongst the least extravagant things discussed here.

Also, these are usually just used in select areas and not the whole house. My kitchen counter has 2 outlets, that would hardly destroy the budget to put 2 outlets in. Its not uncommon for me to do tile backsplashes where the tile is $100 a square foot but when you only need 10-20sqft is just isn't that big of a deal.
