Eric, my mom had MS and it hit her legs the hardest. She always had a step to get in whatever pickup they had, her trick was tying a rope to it, that way she could drag it in after using it.
That is awesome. My parents have an Edge and Ranger with no issues getting in them for the most part.

We could take the wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee but I like driving my truck better, they can see out of it and the "key", plenty of room for 4 adults.

That’s pretty much the same setup I had for my mom. It was a plastic folding step stool that folded flat for easy storage in the truck and had a rope on top to make it easy for her to lower it in position and raise it into the truck.

As I was moving the "new" cabinet in place, I realized this one vents from the rear. That means, it's going to need to be kept off the wall several inches. In search of a 90° elbow to make that work.

I also noted that there are no bulbs in the cabinet for the lighting. No big deal, probably taken out prior to sale for transport. I wanted to double check the length to make sure it's not something odd but yeah 24" bulbs. . . oh wait, what is this ? Broken tombstones.

Light off and opened for repair. I wish I would have gotten a picture of all the sand in this light fixture. I bet it would have filled a qt jar and I could barely see the ballast.

Got the blast cabinet up and running but the vacuum sounded like the bearings wear going out and smelled hot. I took it apart and while putting it back together, I ruined the fan housing. So this Friday or Saturday, I will make the trip to Dave & Ed's swap meet or TP Tools and buy a new vac for it. . . Easy come, easy go.

The bright side, the older blast cabinet and Lincoln Tombstone are sold and that is going to soften the blow for the new vacuum.

I have a dozen HF dollies scattered around. Too cheap and useful to disparage them.
I'd venture to say one of the best bang for the bucks at HF. I have (I think 4) engine blocks sitting on them and have stayed there for several years. It's way easy to move a bare block or short block out of a corner and to elsewhere.

Blast cabinet is on hold until tomorrow. Going to a swap meet where TP Tools will be set up. I'm going to be buying a new vacuum for it ..on sale and small discount for the show.

So, I still had some stuff to put away from the auction wins and I picked up some more blue bins from Menards... along with a few other things today.

NUTTSGT, are you spraying, rolling, or brushing?
I was rolling and brushing. I don't have room or a place to spray right now without getting overspray allover "everything." Hence, the paint isn't perfect but it'll be fine for where it's going. Speaking of which, they are in their new home, stacked for the time being.

Blast cabinet up and running, after buying a longer hose for the new vac and it's location. I found this thing is an air hog but now have another problem.

The cabinet has a regulator and I already have a regulator on this drop. I put this in specifically for the blast cabinet (one before this one) and my pressure is running way to low. I by passed the regulator on the cabinet but now, I think the issue is the small inline filter/dryer. I'm going to get a longer ****** and leave it out and probably buy a new dryer/filter tomorrow.

Yeah, blasting cabinets are air hogs for sure Eric. Fortunately, I learned that very early on in my career and tool buying adventure. The blasting cabinet was the first real piece of shop equipment I purchased back in the late 80's when I was still working out of the small shop on my parent's farm. My dad's little Craftsman 20-gallon horizontal portable compressor didn't cut the mustard at around 4-5 CFM.

I found a well-used 80-gallon vertical that I had to revive but it put out about 15cfm which worked great. Upon building my first shop at our last home in the early 90's, when I went shopping for a new compressor the CFM drove the purchase.

Right on Mike. I know the old cabinet used a large volume of air but not like this one.

Once I get the air delivery issue figured out, I will see how bad it truly is.

Not going to be a new compressor in the future unless I would find a smoking deal... however, when (if) we get my parents place, I will buy a new compressor and leave the current compressor here.

Eric, I noticed that you didn't mask off the threads on the C-clamps and sprayed them with both primer and paint. Will you just wire wheel the overspray off afterwards or not worry about it?

I use the same safety wire from Wire and Cable Specialties, but I purchased mine through Aircraft Spruce many years ago as well as the Malin brand. I keep .025", .032" and .041" on hand. I use .032" the majority of the time and I just recently bought a new spool of it from Summit Racing, but haven't tried their house brand yet.

Yes, the plan is to wire wheel the threads. They needed further cleaning other than blasting so I figured I would clean up afterwards....along with some light oil.

Since I don't use the wire as actual "safety wire" but more of mechanics wire for just general purpose work, I bought another container from HF today.

If I was actually using it as safety wire I would not have bought it from HF being made in China...

A quick little project. The wife's Jeep is black and my F350 is charcoal gray, the EZ Pass transponders are a light tan/off white. I've always hated the way they stick out, stuck to the windshield. Today after washing both vehicles, I decided it was time for a change.

A little masking tape. .
KIMG3105.JPG

Label covered up and the Freq ID # on the backside masked off. Some acetone and a quick wipe and ready for paint.
KIMG3107.JPG

Rustoleum Black paint, 2 coats and drying as I type. I think I might utilize some Gorilla 2-sided tape to reattach them rather than the suction cups previously used.

That's blue paper towel stuffed in the suction cup mount holes.

Eric, are you sure you should be doing that?!.

Bud I'm worried the transponder police will be beating down your door just like the mattress tag gestapo does..

You be careful out there ;)

I'm not worried. . . . I drain my oil filters and toss them in the dead limb pile to burn, I run red lights, speed and drive in the opposing lane while at work and you know that in ground hoist. . nevermind. . . I've done way worse. . .

Those tags. . . well I'm the consumer. . . I have the right to tear it off. . . in my sleep.. . or during .. . well nevermind that too.
