We have deer flies out here...you must have beer flies?
Beer flies--AKA fruit flies--are tiny and also highly irritating.

The flies that will drive you nuts are mostly cluster flies. They parasitise earthworms as larvae, so are most common where the soil is fertile and well watered--like lawns and ag areas. They overwinter as adults in covered places--under loose bark, inside walls (they really do come out of the woodwork in the winter when it gets warm). Nothing like stripping some siding off an old house to find the stud cavities entirely full of flies--dead and alive.

We have the pleasure of deer flies, too. Mostly up in the timbered areas.

Just arrived.

Formulating a plan.

I will need to swap two standard breakers for a dual thin breaker. I can install a 220 breaker with the extra slot.
Solar guys put a big enough conduit in for me to fish the wires into the solar combiner box in the garage.

I'll add a RL conduit body to the of the combiner box side.

That's the plan for now. It might change after I open the combiner box.

It's been known around the plant that I can fix many problems by simply looking at them. Especially when it's an appliance that isn't working... because it's not plugged in. Happens more often than you'd think.
I hate when something fixes itself, cause I can’t diagnose a problem that isn’t happening, but I know it’s gonna be a problem again.

I will put on a second coat tomorrow, and hit the other parts that need it, after that a touch up on the trim colors, and she will be looking good. I only wish I was able to do this in the spring, instead of dodging the rain in the fall.

Plumber returned after 9 months to finish up the 100'x18" concrete pour. Now that the drains and water lines are sealed up I am moving forward to button up this wall. Creating the illusion of an 8' door with barn door sliders on this opening. It should look nice and match the other end of the room.

Hope to be mostly done with this large room by end of year so I can start framing up the office space in the front of the building.

This 20' opening will be a glass wall at the back of the office space.

Interested in your roller shade enclosure project when you get to it.

Keep us in mind for a project thread.
It’s a slow project nowadays. The far side of the BBQs already has a cable operated shade. Just need to get the man door side of the garage patio done up In same color. I pretty sure we doing a Home Depot run today so might grab that. Ceiling fans will come from Amazon.

today is kinda a winterizing kinda day. Wife mentioned brakes grinding on her Honda so bronco is charged up, just need to top up some fluids and move it to the side yard. Then I will tear into the cars and write out what needs to be focused on over the next 2-3 weeks.

Torched some holes in my forks. This is mainly to hold chains and straps from slipping off. I have a dedicated trailer mover mount. Don’t laugh at my freehand circle skills… :ROFLMAO:

This guy snuck up on me after climbing out of some drain tile beside the garage. Sun was beating on it and I guess it got too hot for him. I’m almost positive this was the guy that was hiding in my garage for a couple days this week too..

Filled a raised bed planter box with potting mix and after watering the potting soil I added a bag of earthworms. I guess that makes me a Rancher, I am now supporting a Worm Farm.

Apparently I can feed them Coffee Grounds and Carrot Peels. I am told they also eat Cardboard.

Woke up early this morning with a cup of coffee and got to masking and taping. Not the most resourceful job.

IMG_3685.jpeg

Then applied the basecoat for the “trim” and bumpers. Unfortunately in my excitement I didn’t get photos until it was out of the booth and unwrapped.

Next up, I’m still waiting for parts from the powdercoater. I’ve got a new set of tires on the way in the mail, but I need the wheels back from powder first. While I wait, I’ll wetsand the existing coats of clear to ensure it’s flat, and then apply another few coats of clear over the entire thing.

I did have to test fit the hood ornament!

Waiting for parts is the worst!

I had one of those "I shouldn't be allowed around anything mechaniccal" bonehead moments. Pulled in the garage after making several stops running errands and thought it would be a good time to check fluid levels on my truck (I try to do this every 6 months or so 'just because') so left the engine running to check ****** fluid. YIKES!!! The fluid is way over full and dirty as &%&&. Recheck, same thing. I'm fortunate that the transmission shop I use is a mile from the house so run up there. Explain the problem and they have a few minutes to check so start the truck and pop the hood. As the guy is lifting the hood and I get out, my oh **** kicks in. I was pulling out the motor oil dipstick!!! Ever feel like you just want to crawl under a rock and pretend it didn't really happen. :)

Almost anything vegetable that you havent smothered in butter or other greasy things. No proteins! Also you can bed them in old newsprint (run it through an office shredder) and they love that, but no glossy finishes.

Morning, got out all of the stuff for the smoker. Got the smoker up and running, rack of ribs in to cook.

Afternoon, oil change for the Camry and a general checkover to see if it needs anything else.

Then mowed the lawn, and cleaned up for dinner.

Slept in. Drank coffee. Made it into the shop after lunch. Spent the afternoon sorting sockets from yesterday's score. Decided to go through various toolboxes to add to the sort. I now have labeled trays full of orphaned USA sockets--Snap-On, Craftsman, S-K, Proto, etc.

I guess the next step would be to sort each brand by series....

Charged T-van battery, and moved it to the driveway for hunting prep. Spent a ton of time looking at map details for a place I've never been except to drive by.
Move some stuff to shed storage
Got an unsolicited bite to buy one of my cars that I was thinking about selling anyway, so that's now on the charger so we can talk.

My wife asked me to check her car's brakes. So I lifted it up and pulled a wheel and wound up with this:

1000000379.jpg
So what was going to be a quick 10 minute check wound up taking an hour. Pull caliper, pull caliper bracket, remove rotor, drive out broken stud, pull new stud through hub, clean up caliper bracket, new brake grease, reassemble. Notice leftover lock washer, swear, pull out bracket bolt and reinstall. And of course it was 90 degrees today. I was drenched. But at least I had a spare stud and nut handy; I bought extras the last time this happened, on one of our other Subarus.

Funny this never happens when I was the last one to put the wheel on. It's always a tire shop that touched it last.

1000000380.jpg
And then of course when she took it for a test drive, one of the turn signals started that fast-flash thing. Pulled the taillight assembly and flipped the LED bulb around and that fixed it, for now, so maybe the internal rectifier failed.

The kicker to all this is the brakes look fine, so I think I need to flush the fluid.
