I bought 55 pounds of steel for $10 today
54830656634_4c11fe3669_b.jpg
I got to a three barn estate sale about 30 minutes after it started, and it was, surprisingly, less of a mad house than I thought it would be. Not too much I was interested in, but I did grab this as soon as I walked in. And carrying that much weight under your arm when you walk with a cane is not so easy! Anyway, it is a complete Bonney HD1 set, from 13/16" up to 2", with ratchet, extensions, breaker, etc. Pre-war from the looks of the catalogs. There was some other things, but they will have to wait until later.

Great save! And, YOU ****!!!

Not too many sales today in my area. Not sure why i bought the Griffey card for a couple bucks. Later taking a walk with my dad I found this m18 battery on the side of the road. I guess it counts as the free pile lol. No name or company markings. On the same day as one of my 18v rigid batteries died. Maybe it’s a sign?!?!

M18 Red Lithium is Milwaukee--or a clever counterfeit thereof.

This was one of the best moving 1000001729.jpgyard sales I have been to in awhile. 50 pounds of legos for $5. I got a lot more than that for $1 each.

These were $1 each. The labyrinth is from the 1950s (original box.is.nice). None were ever used.

Have we told you how much you **** for this score?

I never noticed Brio made those labyrinth maze puzzles.
This sale was seriously unreal. Sellers were bringing totes out of the house full of random items non stop. For dirt cheap. Im still going through everything. $5 for the lego bin with a few extras was unbelievable. I spent $40 total, and should make 2/3 of my house payment when I flip it. Again, thus was just jaw dropping.

Made four sales today, kind of. The second, which was not that interesting from the photos, but the seller is super cool, was so bad for parking that I kept going.
Anyway, here is what I found:
54832856349_f9fdd61677_b.jpg
a set of parallels, two boxes of "Treasure Chest", machinist jack, empty box (I love these, great for organization), small plane, small metal case of dental burrs, Starrett pattern makers square, General snap gauges, BA wrench, small hole gauge, pin vise, Simson sheet metal gauge (2), Simpson and Starrett paperwork. All of that for $30. And, what, might you ask, is "Treasure chest?", Well

Small jars of very small hardware!

After those two stops, I headed waaaaaay out of my way to a tool sale. Which it was, just not that much of interest to me. I did get a Herbrand lug nut X wrench for a buck though. So, I got that going for me.

Final stop was one I was going to hit on Friday, but didn't want to deal with the crowds. But, today was half-off day, so I paid a lot less than I would have otherwise
54832340851_546b5dfd5a_b.jpg
Vintage Kennedy box with the top compartment full of tool steel: reamers, center drills, etc. And a 1/4 socket box full of misc.
54832580074_6d13f6da0c_b.jpg
New Britain, Walden, Duro, along with cheap junk and lug nuts(?). All of that for $17.50

I don't know why i keep buying speed wrenches, i have atleat a dozen and have never even used one. This one I only picked up because it is Snap on.

I also got this almost complete set of US made drill bits. Not sure of the manufacturer though.

And the Wiss offset snips.

That is too weird. Back when I lived in SoCal from 1991 to 1997, that address was my local hardware store. They rebuilt it at some point, but I never knew the pre history.

209 W Bonita Ave in San Didas is now an Ace hardware Store, but back in 1958, apparently it was a model train store, Athearn was a brand of HO stuff in the 70s, maybe larger stuff earlier. The stuff in that treasure chest would have been great to repair old locomotives I had, with no access to parts or tiny screws. Below is an eBay ad for an ad

Athearn is still in business, apparently. Highly respected brand, according to my uncle, who is a model train nut.

SWMBO and I hit one sale yesterday. It advertised Star Wars figures which was the lure for SWMBO. She found the Leia she was looking for, and I got skunked on tools....just too expensive for the **** they had. However, I did find this...

...an original album from the movie. LP is trashed, but the artwork is priceless. Buddy and Herbie will find a wall somewhere in the rumpus room. Also, picked up this....
IMG_2010r.jpg
...will try to flip the plate to make back the few $$$ we spent.

Another FBM pick up today is this Snap On box. I'm going to assume it was intended for 1/2" sockets. What I don't know is if the added tags are military, or just some random industrial facilities placard and marking/inventory system. Bought the lot fot the box and this was the included contents:
Snap On box plus contents
1/2” drive
Craftsman 13/16” 12 pt deep modified
Craftsman 1/2”, 1-1/4” 12 pt shallow
Bonney T750 6pt socket
Thorsen 13/16” 12 pt shallow
Proto 5416-S 1/2” 8pt shallow
Husky CT-1216 1/2” 12 pt shallow
Cornwell 7/16” 6 pt impact
Allenite ratchet

3/8” drive
Craftsman 3/8” F to 1/2”M adapter
PowrKraft100 13/16” 12 pt shallow

Most elaborate homemade storage vessel for a line level with a Defiance by Stanley 1287 line level

No sales worth going to yesterday, and none today? :wtf: and next Friday or Sat I go hunting for a week so big time withdrawal unless I happen across something out of town... Not betting on that.

So this week living vicariously through you guys

These are still riding in the car after two weeks. Yard sale. Guy wouldn't sell anything except by the "kit" meaning electrical tools + supplies, plumbing, trailer hitch WITH large wrench not separate, etc.. Prices were fair but not my style. I wanted a wrench and a pliers but he wouldn't sell.

I did get the saw and then these. He made a weird YEAH! cheer like he had just ripped me off.

-Buck Bros. saw -$2

-Craftsman standard tap and die set. Missing a couple pcs.. -$3

-Craftsman large standard and metric tap die set. -$15
