Went to a swap meet today and did some horse trading with BMW today. I made some room in my garage and he made some room in his garage but we both traded for each others junk so now the spaces are taken up again :) But it was a very worthwhile venture. After we traded our wares, we headed inside. My some came with me as well which was nice because he was feeling well today. We headed inside and commenced picking.
-snap on wartime kra-21 . Super solid box just needs some love and hopefully removal of the crappy "patina" someone applied to it which makes it look terrible in my opinion. Bmw even graciously threw in a bunch of AN marked military crows feet! He also gave me a box of Plomb wf tools which I'm stoked on.
-also got a proto flying lady 3/4 drive box set with all proto la tools. Ratchet is a cool pass through style which I dont have.
-vintage gulf lighter fluid can with nice logo, glass oil bottle, texaco home lubricant can, 1941 marked Ford carb gasket kit, Mobil gas polish tube and box!
- giant 4' long mahew pry bar with striking cap for $40
- Plymouth repair manual and Mopar catalogs!

Update a quick look at ITCL tells me I likely have a K-80 box which I have found in the 1937 catalog:Snap-on%20Tools%20Catalog%20M%201937_0015.jpg
Or possibly the K-8 box found in the 1934 catalog:1759678211324.png

Might take more research to find out if there's a difference or if they just added a "0" to the model number, or maybe if it was neither, and was a special military issue.

Either way, great save! Too bad the original tools (presumably) weren't with it.

These are still riding in the car after two weeks. Yard sale. Guy wouldn't sell anything except by the "kit" meaning electrical tools + supplies, plumbing, trailer hitch WITH large wrench not separate, etc.. Prices were fair but not my style. I wanted a wrench and a pliers but he wouldn't sell.

I did get the saw and then these. He made a weird YEAH! cheer like he had just ripped me off.

-Buck Bros. saw -$2

-Craftsman standard tap and die set. Missing a couple pcs.. -$3

-Craftsman large standard and metric tap die set. -$15

You **** for both of those tap & die sets!

Drove up to ACE to pick up a can of paint and spotted a "Garage Sale" sign on Pearl. What the heck?
Spent a whole $1.50 for a 1976 U.S. made "Swing-Away" and an Ekco melon baller. The bicycles were free at a another house doing a "free curb pickup" deal today. One of them is going to need a tire. They could both use a bit of "tune-up".

I have a melon baller just like that! Specifically bought it for gutting potatoes to make mini twice-baked potato appetizers, LOL.

I went to my friend Yuzo's sale yesterday and bought a Brand New set of SAE Husky combos
Stamped USA
Beautiful, high quality, great feeling wrenches....

Yuzo knows that I Do Not Want any more SAE stuff, but these were too nice and priced to good to leave behind

I said, Hey Yuzo, these are beauties, why don't you sell me your Metric set.

His reply, Next time Eugene.....next time ;)

Been pretty slow around me last few weekends. This weekend seemed pretty promising with multiple sales claiming to have tools and a small flea market. 1 goodie from last week was a Wilton 1750 mechanics vise crusty but cleaned up now dated 4/79. $25.
IMG_6718.jpegIMG_6719.pngIMG_6735.jpegIMG_6740.jpeg

Then a couple other stops from last weekend

Blue point snap ring pliers
Snap on vacuum grip needle nose
Starrett 230 mic

Next stop was $5
Kant twist clamp

Wizard 1/4” breaker
Snap on impact extension set 1/4” missing the 2”
Snap on 3” extension with a f314 7/16 8 point
Stacked handle knife

Today I met with Smokeshow at a small auto swap close to him, and got to meet his son! Very nice, and we did some trading before exploring the swap. You have seen what he got from me, but from him I got
54834796353_fb5937c1fe_b.jpg
a box full of mostly Blackhawk, along with some Paschell, Stanley and Armstrong. Also
54834759403_cde4743f8d_b.jpg
a Caterpillar serviceman's box
54834790868_63db426d56_b.jpg
I have a very beat up Blackhawk version of this box, but it has the missing drawer, top tray and, drum roll please! chrome decorative strip. I will use my old box as a parts box and start looking for the proper front emblem.

Anyway, as far as the swap finds go, not much
54834791243_8534eda34a_b.jpg
The only thing I found there was the two-pan vintage parts washer seen on the right. Everything else came from going back to the stop I made on Friday for "get it out of here" price day. Two silver spoons, Ekland metric hex keys, small wood drill index, Walden socket box with sockets, SK breaker, various vintage wrenches (tool post, pin spanner, ell, etc.), Plomb 12" extension, Crosman pelgun tin, Hinsdale refrigeration ratchet, scroll chuck jaws, pull cord switch, vintage sockets (P&C, HInsdale), P&C combo, brace bit countersink, Kilborn & Bishop adjustable, Barcalo adjustable, Millers Falls pouch, bench vise, Stanley power tool pamphlet. Six bucks for all of that!

Two more FBM picks to end the weekend. Craftsman Commercial hand carry box, Craftsman 6516 hip roof box . Second stop was the NOS Craftsman Stubby Nutdrivers. Several miles, two sides of town.

Your Swing Away looks just like the one I've been using as long as I can recall.

Got a phone call about some records and record players that we needed to get out of a house because it was going to be demolished over the weekend. The house had already been "cleared out" but there were some things we could have. Every one of the records was gospel and moldy because the roof was leaking really bad. The record players were equally as gross. Asked about the basement, we were assured there wasn't anything down there but found a dry space between the steps that was filled with cans and shells. Under further digging the basement was filled with Redwing crocks. Here's the highlights.

I tool a couple weeks off and was back at it last week feeding the hoard...lol. The hammer and socket set are my favs.

Craftsman C-Series 9/32 drive complete socket set with great logo. Was still waiting for me on the 2nd day of the sale, I was shocked it was still there. Clear photo showed it on Estate Sales.net, so I was sure it was gone. I believe this was made by Snap On for Craftsman in the 30's sometime.

C-97 ratchet with the plug. Made by Snap On too I believe.

20251006_091031.jpg

Champion DeArment/ Channellock kinda rare Octagon 16oz curved hammer in nice shape, love the "Our Pride" on the handle.
Discontinued Channellock 3066 Duck Bill pliers, the jaws are kinda fat and serated, handles seem kinda short too. I think the red grips were added, I'm tempted to cut them off and see if its got the arrow marking grip thingy.
20251006_091131.jpg

S-K #2412 12 pc Punch and Chisel set with pouch. The black chisel is a Craftsman, most are stamped S-K, but several have foil stickers on them denoting the part number. Strange, who puts foil stickers on chisels? lol. Maybe they are unmarked under the sticker so they wouldn't have to warranty them.
NOS Vise Grip 5WR
Vaco Pouch with DU-4 flip screwdriver. I see a pouch in nice shape, I always buy it.
20251006_091329.jpg

3 Proto Tool boards missing ALL the hooks! Not sure where I'm gonna find some of those that fit.

Very productive past weekend.

Garage sale with a bunch of one offs. Snap-On stuff, SAE wrenches, hose pliers, cotter pin tool, driver, mini pick at $1/pc.

Guys cleaning out their dad's old house and garage. Don't know what the dad did but I've never seen so many hand tool boxes and hardware storage units full of new and used hardware and whatever misc. new and used stuff could fit in them. Guys said nothing is organized or in sets as far as they could find but feel free to start digging ! Dug out the only things that resembled sets.
Craftsman circle H 1/2" drive socket set that looks complete and 1/4" drive Craftsman circle H socket set that looks to be missing a perhaps the extensions. $25.

Lady having a moving/estate sale and I was first there. Tools wise selling a tool box with tools but since I don't need any more tool boxes I asked if she would sell any tools out of it so she says sure. Pulled out the only truck brand tools being Snap-On 1/2" drive shallow impact socket sets in SAE and metric and she shot me a price, I gave her more $$ than she was asking.

FBMP purchase for $75...A box of vintage body tools😍😍😍
I have been searching for a pair of drip rail pliers but they are very expensive. I saw this lot and got excited that there was a pair of Porter Ferguson ones included. The rest was icing on the cake. I will be flipping a few items but keeping most for the collection.1000012282.jpg

They all need to be cleaned up but appear to be all Heller, Fairmount and Porter Ferguson Dolly's and spoons. The donkey **** hammer on the left is unbranded (as far as I can see) and very old and the two body hammers are older Blue Point-BF-610 shrinking hammer and BF-615 reverse curve hammer.

The two on the right end appear to be repurposed, especially the round one. Definitely a homemade dolly. The other flat one with a handle appears to be manufactured but not sure its a body specific tool. Very heavy!

Got a big catch today, mix of random stuff from a hoard of 40 gallon totes filling a 2 car garage. Some Snap On, Mac, Cornwell, and a bunch of misc I may need or oddities I can clean up. $50 for the lot and I have my schedule filled again. 2 gallons of it on schedule then the big stuff on the back burner.

2788.png
Nothing really of note except a double crescent wrench, Williams push through pinned anvil 1/2 ratchet, new micrometer in leather case, and the Ridgid pipe vise for the collection. I mainly just got a bunch of stuff to waste time cleaning really.
2784.png
Not sure on mounting pattern but the vise looks to be a tension chain mount instead of the normal folding base.

(Pics coming, new phone doesn't like the forum)

I very rarely attend a garage sale, but I will occasionally hit an estate sale if they post a picture showing tools. Yesterday, I went to an estate sale and picked up the items shown for $30. 4", 5", and 6" Pony C-clamps; Craftsman 36" bar clamp; Vampire Jawz 7" vice grip; and a bag I thought I could store my cordless sander in. All are in like new condition. Sale was unusual to me in that there were a ton of tools, mostly new or like new but not a tool chest in site. Many duplicate sets of wrenches, but I did not see any sockets or ratchets.

How much did that bucket weigh?

You guys make my back ache....
Around 2 gallons, plus a bit on top, should be ~46 pounds. Ebay used to be fun sometimes... Mail carrier wasn't happy though, they sent the 50+ year old mom volunteer so I had to grab it and the box was NOT rated for that weight. They wanted out and the clear tape wasn't gonna win the fight.
