Hey All -

In a few weeks I'll finally have my own "usable" garage (barn) - about 3600 sq ft actual garage plus 600 sq ft enclosed shop. Yes, I did it up nicely, blew way past budget - but in my defense, at the age of 61, it will be the one and only such facility I'll have in my lifetime. Hopefully I have a few more healthy years left to enjoy it.

I'll be looking for a bunch of help here with outfitting and such. I'll post when I'm ready (and budget allows).

Welcome to the Forum, where we old guys can learn from each other. At 61, IMHO, you are still the a pup.

Thanks ... and I guess "pup" is relative. I will note that my wife has finally trained me to pee outside.

That's an interesting location plan. I am a troll at present (live below the Bridge) but spent over 3 years in the Queen City. The Northern Lower is about 4 climate zones colder than Cincinnati ... Pellston is nicknamed "The Icebox of the Nation" and it isn't even all the way Up.

Grew up on Detroit's north side, but my grandparents had a place near Alpena and I've really liked the area ever since I was a kid (less congested and less "touristy" than the Lake Michigan side of the state). Went to Michigan Tech in the UP and loved the area, but no jobs for a mechanical engineer in the late 80's so ended up in Cincinnati.

About 12 years ago the wife and I bought a big piece of property near Alpena and we're finally building that retirement place - or as I call it, "my last and final house".

BIG DIFFERENCE between the NE and NW corners of MI Lower Peninsula ! Very few towns north of Bay City along the Lake Huron coast,
