Eventful past few days.
As some of you know, I recently decided to adopt a dog we were fostering.
Thing is, a cat had apparently made its way to living in our backyard.
To summarize, I'm extremely allergic to them, and while I did not "get rid of it" (due to coyotes and the sort on the other side of my fence), I tolerated it for a few days while posting on social media and the sort.
With no one claiming it, and no chance to take it to get microchip scanned, I had to wait it out until my hand was forced earlier today.

So why am I posting this here, and now? My wife got out of work today at her normal time but let's backtrack.
This morning my wife heard a lot of "meowing" and thought the cat was near her car, or even in it. I let the dogs out back and sure enough, the stray was still there so she went on to work.
She later said she thought she heard meowing from the parking lot (she's a teacher), so I told her to check it out before leaving work. She heard nothing else.
Then she got home and heard it again so I immediately popped the hood and YEP!
Tucked in between the subframe and splash shield, came out another cat!
Thing is, it had the same flea collar as the other one and they knew each other! It dawned on me that it could be her kitten and maybe both of them were dumped in our neighborhood together.
I didn't want to take them to a shelter (they euthanize, it's where we got our dog recently), but I couldn't keep them so I rushed quickly to city hall to get them scanned.
No microchip, no owners, nothing.
Finally found someone to take them in so they're no longer in my hands. They were so friendly, and even came up to my dogs but seeing as how I'm crazy allergic (and not set up for owning cats), they're a no go for us.
