I'm not sure if these qualify as "shop built" cabinets?
I have a lot of 24" deep workbench.
The original setup was a shelf running under the bench top.

The lower shelf setup worked okay.
It was starting to get cluttered and less efficient with more tools.

I shopped around for mid or upper tool chests that would fit on the lower shelf. I didn't have much luck but I found that there were kitchen and bath cabinets that were similar depth dimensions.
I ended up using IKEA drawer units and made my own faces out of B B.
The "sides" are simple melamine.

The drawer faces are 1.5 inches wider than the cabinet sides so I could get by without drawer pulls. I made one drawer set for each work area to hold tools and supplies for that spot.

The empty spot under my table saw was too deep for most standard cabinet drawers. I resorted to making my own 30" deep cabinet using 250# slides.

3/4" baltic birch wasn't the cheap option but I had those sheets on hand.
I used the same thinking for the drawers and used what I had. It was a variety pack of 3/4" B B sides, 3/4" plyron scraps for backs, 1/2" B B box fronts, and 3/4" B B faces.

Those drawers were big and expected to be heavy so I used pulls.
I found some extruded stock that worked out.

The pulls run across the full width.

BTW, I wanted to use tool cabinet drawer pulls and they were crazy expensive. The extruded stock was something like seventy bucks with shipping.
In the end, that single cabinet was still expensive because of the oversized heavy duty slides.
