Another thing I found in the carry case for the old HP was an Audio Technics S-Video cable. Remember those? This was a very nice one. I think I'll put it in the drawer with my gold-plated connector Toslink cables.....

Removed the old license plate frame from the back of my wife's "new to her" trike & traced the wires so I could install the new lighted frame.

After going through this..its a bunch of heavy work and if I was going in after the parking brake...I'd do it all. I'd buy everything prior to tearing it down. The only thing I didn't replace front and rear was the backing plates and calipers. Odd to me that the rest of my dually is in pristine condition, but the brake components really compromised. They very well may be the originals or have only had the pads swapped at some point due to the volume of in depth work.
I have a ToughBook in the shop, I have a brake/axle document that I update with torque specs, part numbers and details such as the parking brake adjuster. I keep them for each vehicle, boat and project to reference later. The boat and outboard projects taught me to do that, lots of time spent chasing information and I wanted to save it and keep it in a functional format that makes sense to me.

Got a few minutes, started with fiddling on the linkage of the ford tractor, cannot get it to work correctly with the addition of the correct spring, PO said a rebuild had happened, but not sure how extensive it was, So that may be the next stop. Noted the baja had oil spray near the engine, cleaned and wiped, took a while to try and find a source still unknown. Thought of filter in the breather box, remove checked-nothing found-reinstalled. Then onto another beetle project, tried to start, pedal won't move check carb linkage, cable from pedal is moving carb linkage isn't. Copious amounts of wd40 applied few light blows with a plastic hammer, some movement. More to come at another time.

My daughter got in the truck last night, pulled the seat belt out and goes, "you forgot to clean something"... It still had son's vomit on it. So I cleaned that last night.
Then, this morning I spent an hour modifying the OTA antenna and getting it installed.
I made an aluminum adapter plate to fit the larger u bolt.
Then I got it on the shop.
the compass in my phone acts wonky around the metal building, so I used an actual compass to set the direction. I somehow hit it first try, which is good because I really didn't want to climb the ladder again.
I'll do cable management later. Right now the cable is just going through the garage door right under the mount.
The tuner picked up 118 channels between the two towers that are in the same general direction. (228 and 229 degrees)
I tested a bunch of them this morning and they all came in crystal clear. I'll need to expand my DVR drive if I want to start recording shows.

It sure looks that way in the photo doesn't it. The cable dropped over the side of the ladder outside of the camera view. I was able to safely remove the ladder without yanking the cable off the antenna.

So far to day, it's been too easy.
The pub wanted me to "fix" this portable fire placebo:
One AA cell and a clean chimney later:
I call it a "placebo" because it's just that: It looks warm without actually being capable of warming. All the heat generated goes right up the chimney. It also burns ridiculously rich, as there is no way to adjust for elevation.
Anyway, simple fix.
This took a little more sleuthing:
That's the IR air dryer we just had replaced under warranty. For once, being way the hell-and-gone out in the boonies paid off: IR didn't want to pay a tech to drive five or six hours each way to diagnose it and didn't want to pay to have it shipped back. I decided to see if I could fix it so we'd have a back-up for the next time the dryer goes gunny-bag (as they're prone to do).
After about a half-hour of wire tracing and testing, it turns out the solenoid valve--bottom center--that drains the condensate off had a bum coil. It meters out at 3 Ohms--42 Amps at our line voltage! Yep, that'll pop a 20 A breaker right pronto.
Ordered a replacement coil: $40 shipped. Not bad for fixing a $1,600 piece of kit.
Now to see what blows up this afternoon--this run can't last.

Over several days:
Waiting on on the MAF I ordered for the T-bird.
Oak leaf drop is in full swing we have 2 huge scarlet/red oaks), so got a ton of it blown into a pile and canned. Next day it was like I'd not done a thing... Today after some wind and a few hundredth's of rain, (enough to make doing leaves a pain) there is 3X that amount, should be dry enough to blow into piles again tomorrow, and fill all the cans.
Wind creates some interesting eddy's around the house and vehicles, and often this helps me for pickup:
But not always:
BUT, a lot of the leaves are in the drive, not the yard so that's a help over all. A fair bit went over the house to the kitchen side yard.
Winter weeds started growing in the back mostly, and I whacked them with Roundup.
Today its been IVY Hacking on back 40 fence
And I made me an "ice cream spoon" - Not scoop! I keep hurting, nearly bruising the palm of my right hand digging a bite from a Ben and Jerry's container. It still huts a bit from 2 nights ago, So I dug out from my random collection of "camp silverware" (mostly silver plate) a "Brazilian Silver (nickle silver) spoon and modified it:
Bet that won't hurt/bruise!

Didn’t get a chance to get any work done on the pedal car - got distracted by helping with getting this on the trailer.
Dad found it at a junk yard and had them cut it off at the cab. wants to make a trailer to pull behind the ‘65 we built years back.
I’ll keep you guys updated on this headache when it gets rolled over to my shop.

I didn't find that to be a terribly difficult conversion when I did an early Econoline trailer. I went all out and had tailgates front and rear, and made it a dump trailer to boot.

Tuesday (yeah, I'm a day late) was the last "seasonal" day (+8/-4 or so) so did wife's Q7 100k (kms) service only 3k late. Not an extensive one so only took a couple hours. Did some battery maintenance in the parking lineup at the farm, and some in the battery area of the shop. Need to get charges up on the stuff outside as it will be -15 Saturday night. Was going to start winter changeovers (4 cars to do) but ran out of time. Will be warm enough next week, I hope.

I don't think old. while I planted them from 20 or 30 gallon buckets, they are not quite 40 years in place.

For the last year, i have been working part time for a local lumber yard as a delivery driver. We are not super busy most days delivering lumber and I hate Joe jobs.
I have some skills and they seem to like
having a handyman around. Repair equipment, buld little projects, repair other things.... I have been given pretty free reign to get stuff done and tonight was a fun little prototype project. We occasionally have to bend some rebar and have been doing it by sticking the bar into the stake pocket on one of our trucks (commercial flatbed not a standard light truck.) It kinda works, a real workout when talking 15 and 20 mm bar. So tonight I came home and knocked this out. Not pretty, if it stands up i will finish welding it and clean up the over hangs, sharp edges.... but need it for tomorrow, and wasn't spending all night on it. Fits in a vice and uses a bottle jack. Works pretty slick.

Got the new lathe table down in the shop, test fitted with the new legs and mentally working out the best way to keep everything aligned correctly, at the right distances between mounting holes, and still be able to handle this by myself safely. Here is were we stand:
I have the metal tray that came with it, which I don't think is original, but I lose 10" of space using that, so this will keep things as compact as possible. It looks a little like Frankenstein's monster right now, but this is just to start getting it lined up, as I said.
And yes, my shop is tiny:
11'x13', under the dinning room. No flammables, no flame.

Dang it forklifts are handy !!
Some fine ground corn was leaking out the bottom of the mixer so I needed to investigate. I debated on putting a hoist/boom/crane in the shop but decided a forklift and a jib boom would be a more useful deal. Sure glad younger me got that one right.
Nothing is worn or wobbled out from the naked eye so I stuck some tape in the shaft that’ll smoosh down into the gap for good measure. I shoved a whole crease carriage in there as well. It’ll go another 20yrs now.
