Built a couple of jigs last night and cut out the segments for a compass rose, still need a bit of fine tuning before I get into the fancy woods. Planning to incorporate one in the deck of an S.U.P. I'm going to try building this winter, and maybe a Christmas present or two.IMG_7129.jpegIMG_7128.jpeg

I've spent a bit of time fitting on the second try, so I'm not gonna call it practice. I think it will end up as a serving tray or cheese board for a Christmas present. I'm going to the wood supplier this week to find some other woods to colour the next one up a bit. Maple and walnut are a bit ordinary.

Well, I managed to mess it up, not terrible, but not as precise as I prefer. Gotta give some thought to a micro-adjustable miter jig or a better method of fine tuning each piece. 16 times 1/10 of a degree adds up. And I need to sharpen some table saw blades!
