Not much going on this rainy Saturday! Did hit one sale and grab a few things. It was supposed to be $23 gave the lady a $50, she hands me my change and I just shove it in my pocket and go. Then I stop to grab a coffee pull the change out and I have $37 in my hand! 😳😳 I guess she failed that part of math class. Here’s what I got;

3/8 drive SK socket set with some 6 point swivel sockets, missing the 7/16 on the rail
Rosebud torch tip
2 Williams spanner wrenches

The partial S-K set will be a fun one to complete. IMG_9026.jpeg
Here it is in the 1958 catalog. IMG_9025.jpeg

^ There's a lot of people in India. They all gotta be doing something - they can't just be standing around, ya know.
I guess they gotta make wrenches to pass the time?

^ In all fairness: One of five people on the planet lives on the Indian sub-continent. It should come as no surprise there exists a proportionate amount of their product output scattered around the globe.
I've invested only the time and energy required to sort them out and separate them from the other stuff.
I'll probably blow out the entire lot at some point - the pile of "no name/offshore" seems to grow at a frightening rate... every time I acquire another box full of stuff I end up with a huge pile of offshore-produced schlock.

The light at the end of the tunnel, of course, is that there is a gigantic Black Friday Garage Sale this Friday right up the street, so I can add even more **** to the pile! (y)

That shouldn’t be a problem. I trip over SK at every sale I go to!! The only problem may be the cross bar. The “flex handle” is tucked in the front of the box just a little hard to see.

The ad said "old box with tools" and I thought the box looked rather interesting, so I got ahold of the guy.
Craftsman 19.5 in box 112425 01.jpg
I looked through the catalogs before I left the house. He claimed in his ad it was "1940s"
As near as I can tell Sears went to a steel handle on their boxes in 1949.
Granted, it's not in perfect shape, and considering the contents it was maybe a bit steep, but there was just something about it.

I got all the stuff sorted out when I got it home - most of it's offshore tat, with a few gems:
I can narrow it down to 1945 through 1948. Slight differences dimensionally in the 45-47 to the 48 box. A guy named Kevin L Nikkel has written a pretty great resource book on the hand carry toolbox . https://www.amazon.com/Unofficial-Craftsman-Tool-Box-Handbook/dp/B0FM4FN6Y1?tag=atomicindus08-20

Small bunch. Tried posting photo, but photos do not seem to be working for some reason, I will try again later.
I was hoping the hex drive sockets were a set. They were rusty and all strung together on a piece of bailing wire. They are just a mixed bag with no name on them.
Plump Ball pean Hammer
Large Rosco USA Flat Blade Screwdriver
extra long 3/16 drill bit
Hex bit holder USA Pat.
Fordson Tractor wrench
Drill bit extension, no name.
Master mechanic cheap hex bit extension
True Temper Brick Hammer Head
B&C Clamp (Bemis and Call?)

It's affecting the "drag and drop" operations, mostly, if you use the postcard and click into its "load from device" mode, and select the pic, it seems to work.
It's affecting linking to a third-party host, too--again. Same thing happened a couple of weeks ago. I have no problem making a post without an embedded image, but put an image in... ERROR. Try to post it again, You Must Wait 16 Seconds Before Submitting. Try 20 seconds later... now you need to wait for 60 seconds. It gets worse the more you try.

I'd post some screen grabs, but....

OK. Good try, thanks for the information. It downloaded the photo and showed it in the post. Then the screen blinked and "oops we ran into a problem" popped up and the picture went away. Cannot seem to add it to the post.

When I run into posting errors, I select all and copy my text content. Then hit refresh a few times. Then paste my content and add photos. This works for me most of the time.
I associate these errors with times that other users are also editing or uploading content. I imagine there is some difficulty sorting out the last saved version of a thread. Like maybe I took too long with my post, and there have been enough changes that a checksum doesn’t match the thread anymore.

Can someone explain the TOO acronym? I promise I’ve tried to figure it out myself but apparently I’m acronym challenged.

A bit more detailed: most of us make lists of the sales that we find the most likely to have things of interest. But, if in the course of our travels, we come across a sale that looks interesting enough but is not on our list, that is a TOO.

As I work on restoring the lathe I picked up earlier this year, I decided I need to change some of the wiring in my shop, as I need to get the areas where I am moving equipment too better light. So, after figuring out what I want to do, I headed over to the Restore to get the stuff cheap. Plus, there seem to be good tools right now...

So, fixture boxes, porcelain light fixture, and Dunlop hex key set in cadmium, and a Yankee push drill with a full set of bits.

a few odds and ends I picked up earlier today. 11/26/25

second and third from left are a mystery... no name on either of them.... the pliers at far right are Lectrolite - I've got them upside-down here in the photo...

I believe that the little DOE is a panel bar Vlchek, possibly from an auto toolset. The little DBE wrench is a Vlchek panel bar as well IMG_1369.jpeg

Imagine the weight of the drive bar! I've seen videos where they use suspended guns for big jobs.

Mike
You use hydraulic torque wrenches for those. At least thats what we use on hydro turbines and steam turbines at work.

FBMP ad for tools of recently deceased husband.... super nice lady. A lot to look through but I think I did well over all. I paid $85 for all the tools. Plenty of Herbrand, Mac, Snap On, and every other USA tool brand to look through .The Anco box is very cool. She initially said she wouldn't take less than $100. I offered $60 and she said no. As I was getting ready to leave I said I'll take it. It was just too cool to leave behind. I'll have to do some research to see if it's worth it or not. Either way it's mine😎
