^ Utoku Tools LLC - interesting product mix. Looks like they have a number of items on Amazon.
Exactly where I snagged the ratchet from. Don't know anything about the brand. Taiwanese for the ratchet, and I seem to recall positive reviews. It certainly doesn't feel bad, but that's about all I can say 🤣 Pretty confident that my granddaughter doesn't have the strength to ruin any actual functional ratchet. Lol.

Cute little mini ratchet that I grabbed for my granddaughter's toolbox build. 1/4 square on one, 1/4 hex on the other side. Might still find her one of more normal proportions, but this will go alright with the color coded sockets I got her.
I love titanium nitride coatings. The only tool I have with this coating has (so far) held up to rust much better than chrome. If you wax your bicycle chain, the titanium nitride coating may not be a good choice for the chain as wax does not stick to it very well.

2. Earthquake Composite XT 1/2" Air Impact Wrench, (Multi color choice, I went with the Gunmetal Gray) was on sale for $64.99
That's a lot of gun for not a lot of money. It performed favorably on TTC. I've bought a few of them for our shop, and I've also got the Aircat 1000TH. Nothing to sneeze at. One of the less prejudiced techs who also has a good amount of time in the real world says "it's just fine." Lol. Our air tools are a mish mash of several brands. But that Earthquake has a fair amount of grunt off the bottom. At regular price it's a good deal, on sale it's a no brainer 🤣

Picked this up today on the company card. An inexpensive megger. Don’t use one often and the one I have is making some unsettling arcing sound inside the case when you hit the test button.
IMG_1818.jpeg

Actually seems pretty nice for the money and does more than the one it replaced.
Last week I ordered a couple grand worth of Klein stuff as Christmas presents for the guys.

My inside sales guy let me know Klein is having a deal where if you spend $1,750 you get a choice of several different freebies.

As I scanned thru them I was floored to come across both a megger and a multimeter as one of the deals. Compared to everything else I instantly check the box thinking that’s a smoking deal.

Then my inner voice said self, something ain’t right. So I looked up the part numbers and was floored to see online offering both of them stupid cheap, as in all in a couple hundred bucks.

I’ve already got two good meggers so I passed on them.

This megger is cheap and pricing is weird. I see them from $125 to $800 depending on where you get it from. Same model. Megger I want is $900 but don't use it often enough. I wanted one that will meg at 50v for class 2 wiring issues. My old one only did 1000v

We also have a couple nicer ones at the shop.

What did you pay for each item?
400 for the torch set and 200 for the spring compressor.

I was also bidding on a Snap-on tire machine and a Ranger wheel balancer, but I missed the ending on the balancer so I let the tire machine go.

Balancer went for 350 and the tire machine went for 3k. That was a bummer.

Hey, is that phillips Screwdriver one of the new style made in France that replaced the Durateks?

Hi Fed, I don’t believe so. This screwdriver is made in Taiwan I believe, and it is their most recent handle style. I have the same 9 piece set in orange and can attest to their quality. They’re also offered in red, green and purple.

As far as I know, the Duratek’s are still made in France and are available on the MAC truck. I wouldn’t be surprised if they disappeared soon, as it does seem like he has less and less on the shelf.

That's a fair price on both. Definitely a bummer on the other two pieces.

I don't normally post my new tools, but... I wanted a water shut-off valve and I wanted one that was at least 30 in long so I popped onto Amazon and I bought one

37 Inch Water Meter Key, Adjustable Length, 4-Way Multi-Functional Utility Key, Contractor Grade Enforced Steel Shut Off Tool, T-handle Water Key for Meter Valve.

It's okay, it's not fabulous, I don't normally need one but the problem is it seems like when you need it you really need it... So this one everything fits together very tightly so tightly. In fact that out of the box it won't go together. The problem is that you have a square sheet metal fitting on each end and it turns out that there's a slight lip on the inside that propounds it from going together. If you spend 30 seconds on each end that slips over the top, it slides together perfectly. So, although I actually like this understand you're going to need a metal file and it's going to have to be a smaller than normal metal file so that it will fit inside the metal pipe so you can remove the Burr so it will slide together. So some work required and a smallish metal file. I have lots of metal files so that wasn't a problem for me. Sadly they all previously belonged to dead relatives. Well. Most of those files do anyway.

I have a lot of things that I need to charge using USB. I like being able to see how much current is being used to charge those particular devices because it provides me some useful information for some devices.
Own theee of these and they have performed well. The nice thing about this one in particular is that most of the ports are USB a and it has one USB C charge port. Most of my devices I can charge using usba but every now and then I get one that requires a c. So it's nice to have that. I also know that I have given these in particular to relatives as gifts including my parents and they have been in use for a long time. Very reliable.

USB Charger, slitinto 60W 12A 8-Port USB Charging Station Multi Port USB Hub Charger Compact Size LCD Display Compatible with iPhone iPad Samsung Kindle Tablet Bluetooth Earbuds and More

For charging my phone every night, I decided maybe it would be less wear and tear on the charge port if I used a wireless charger and I found this one works fine. The three different Android phones that I have tried. And this is less than $15

Before I had one with a digital output and maybe you don't want it because it produces an awful lot of light which can be annoying at night if you have one in your bedroom... This 10-port charger has been in continuous use for a very long time and has really held up to a lot of abuse. I no longer own it because while visiting my mother-in-law it turns out she had a cell phone and no charger of any sort. Who sells a phone without something to charge it? And I guess the answer is everyone now. I own so many chargers. I never gave it a thought. So I left it with her since my daughter had brought it and I bought her one of the ones with a digital display.... Not that my daughter really needed that but she liked that I could get different colors and I got her one that was pink.

This one is much smaller and it comes in pretty colors which my daughters like. But this is great for travel. If you don't want the big bulky thing, it'll charge a couple things at once has no digital display. It has USB a and USBC for charging and I have owned a couple. Although I seem to keep giving them out to relatives. Who say oh no, I don't have any way to charge this

Enough of that, we probably care more about the snap-on stuff I received, but I'll probably post about that later

Had an oil change mishap. part of my Screw in Funnel broke and went down the oil fill. Take the top of engine off and of course in order to remove the angled to a 90 bend oil fill tube I would have had to remove the shoe box size fuse box and Battery.
So sent the wife out to get me an Borescope camera which saved the day.
$98 Does pictures and video. Really good picture quality.

Don't be lazy like me and use a pricey rebadged Snap On screw in oil funnel for filling things with gas. Got 15 years out of the funnel probably would have lasted my life time if I didn't use it with gas and make it brittle.

Black Friday got me.

I have a flash light thing and always have one in my pocket and this one was about 40% off.

Been wanting one of these tape measures for a while but they are insanely expensive for a tape. They were reasonably priced today in the display, same goes for the 6.0 m12 batteries.

Black Friday round 2

Actually ordered these about 2 weeks ago and they were just delivered moments ago.

My OCD made me have to complete a 10-15 year old set and fill out the rack.

Not quite the same but close enough. Magnetic ball ends made in Germany and the standard fill ins are from Poland.

There go the Germans making things more complicated with more parts and more expensive to produce! Here in 'merica, we just have a vertical handle. I trust this will be reliable, though. I like the thick steel plate, too.

They even make a special one, just for compacting under/ around pipes. ;)

Meanwhile, on a hiking forum, some guy is bemoaning the loss of his little red bucket and how Ace doesn't make them anymore!

^ That's funny you would say that, because the bucket had been left by somebody to mark the location of the trailhead. Somebody kept stealing the sign. I hauled a bunch of big rocks up there a couple years ago and set them next to the trailhead so I could spot it (see below.)
In the meantime, DNR came in and laid in crushed rock and put up a new sign. One of those rocks came in real handy when I had to smash the window out of the truck when I locked myself out in July.

Ms. Squankum is very good at locking herself out of her car. She's a big fan of the Hide A Key. My paranoia about crime and vandalism, from having grown up in the semi-urban Northeast, is scared at the idea of having a key to your car... under your car. But I make sure all of her cars have one.

I kind of had the "it can't happen to me" mentality, having driven German cars for decades where you can't lock the driver's door from the inside then slam it shut, you must close it then lock it with a key, and that was a very good way to learn to not lose your key, and also made odds of locking your key inside much lower. But then we left a trailhead and rode our bikes up a mountain and my keys fell out of the saddle bag of my MTB. Amazingly, we went back and found them.

Actually, here in the States we put a motor on those!
