Today is my birthday

I recently realized that I have more tools than I could fit in my small tool bag, so I went ahead and bought a toolbox for myself for my birthday:

At only $40, it's about what you'd expect. Thin steel, sections of the inside are unpainted, and the drawer sliders aren't anything amazing. However, it suits my needs perfectly.

I found out that my grandmother also bought a much nicer tool chest for me as well:

That one was $60, but it's much, much higher quality. Now I'm on the hunt for a garage that's close to my house. Right now I have a 45-minute commute to my garage, and I say that's totally unacceptable. Anyone know where I can get a space to work on my car over the winter in Western Mass?

Hey! Happy Birthday!! I say go ahead and spluge and get something you'd really like, not something someone would buy you unless you specifically told them what you want! I think Birthdays should be kind of a selfish day and Christmas too! how often do you get soemthing from someone that you really liked~ again, unless they were informed of what you really want, so why wait until your birthday or Christmas, may not be a tomorrow, buy what you want TODAY!!!

Haha, I had posted the link on Facebook, saying that I was planning to pick it up, and she snatched it up before I had a chance to even call the guy. My grandmother is pretty awesome.

I'm adding a mount to the side of one of these boxes for the breaker bar, so it'll be stored like the lever-rod on an engine hoist.

Can't really buy what I want, since I don't have a proper garage space yet. I'm really looking forward to the day when I have a proper workbench and four walls with a ceiling that I can work in. I'm finding it damned near impossible to find somewhere like that here in Western Mass.

Looks like a HF breaker bar, I maybe wrong. Wonderful grandmother, give her a big hug and kiss. I sure miss my grandmothers, both women were saints.

Bingo, it's a cheap HF breaker bar. In all honesty, there are a lot of "low quality" tools that I absolutely love. Especially with a breaker bar, I'd rather have 3 HF ones than a single Snap-On. It's one of those tools that will eventually break, and when it does I want to have a backup on-hand than to know that my warranty will replace it in a few weeks.

Along those same lines, my favorite 3/8" drive ratchet ever is from Autozone. That's over my Snap-on, Craftsman, S-K, and every other ratchet I've ever held. It's a little odd, but I've found that a lot of the time the most expensive tools aren't the best for me.

Received it today, and I didn't have any locking pliers! How did you know?!

I also picked up some por 15, and I'm debating doing a quick once-over on the cheap toolbox with it. Has anyone tried that, and if so, what were the results? I just finished tightening up the tolerances on the sliders, and found quite a few areas that hadn't been painted at all from the factory.
