I put the car cover on the Solstice to keep it warm. ;)

DeWalt and the Craftsman C3 it replaced.

I tested the DeWalt impact.
It removed the 148 ft lb torqued lug nut on the Maverick EASILY.
The Craftsman always struggled with those, but did the Solstice ones no problem.

My friend Gerard (@taumac) used to have a Craftsman wall.
Here is my "wall" of DeWalt. :ROFLMAO:

Jon,

I hope you have a car cover lined with flannel for those cold night. I don’t remember if you heat your shop in the winter or keep the temp at the lowest setting.

What’s next on your Dewalt 20 volt FB acquisition?

I’m on the 12M red team but just recently picked up a Ridgid 18 volt inflator and task light. Both were heavily discounted. I do keep the inflator and battery in an old Borsch bag I picked up from a thrift store.

I haven't found a lot that compact dewalt couldn't handle. Then the trigger had issues on mine and I bought the bigger model. It will take off crank bolts and just about anything else I have thrown at it. And its not even the biggest baddest one they make, it was just their midrange half in gun. Keeps me from dragging out the air tools.

Thanks!
It cost $1800 to have the old garage demolished and everything hauled away.
It was another $8400 to have the new one built, including the slab.
For our area, I feel like the build price was very reasonable, as we had another contractor come in with a bid of almost double.
I would sign up for that today ! In NY its easily 3x that maybe more :(

Interesting the Dewalt looks like a Milwaukee, or vice versa.
Not my picture, but they do look similar.

Always impressive how well organized your garage is. You certainly gain maximum use of your space!
Thanks, I am still thinking of getting a 8' x 12' shed to house all of the yard equipment.

No flannel, LOL.
I only turn on the heat when I'm going to be working or puttering around out there.

I'm kinda looking for a jigsaw.
But I don't use one much, so it will have to be good deal.

No Rigid tools, but I do have a couple of Ryobi tools.
A portable fan that my wife uses at the farmer's market, and a soldering iron.

I have that craftsman impact it’s kind of heavy to use but it’s always had the torque I needed. Good luck with the Dewalts
My Craftsman C3 struggled with the lug nuts on the Maverick, but did take them off.

My toughest requirement so far is removing the lug nuts (torqued to 148 ft lb) on my Maverick.
The DeWalt does that easily.
Hope I don't have any problems with mine.

Nice thing about small buildings like garden sheds is the wall space. Lots of room to hang things. And a ceiling shelf at the back is easily reached. Room for hand tools, mower, wheelbarrow, snowblower. Even extra tires and wheels. Tough to trade off back yard and shed though.

Our small back yard is the reason we didn't go with building a larger garage.
Adding a shed will take away from the back yard just as surely as if we had gone with a larger garage.
Wish we had done the larger garage. 🤔
Jon

I know you are on the Dewalt platform, but consider a corded model if yiu don’t use it too often. The holidays are near and someone may be clearing up old corded tools if they got something new under the tree.
I already have a corded jigsaw.
It's the thrill of the hunt for me looking on FB Marketplace for a cordless DeWalt.
If I was in Chicago it looks like they go for cheap there.

The new impact gun would not hang on the pegboard holder unless it had a socket on the gun... That wouldn't do.

So I f*%ked up 😠 the pegboard trying to fasten a made for DeWalt holder to it.

With all the snow on the roof of the house and the gutters full of ice, when it warmed up and the rain came we had a couple of issues with water seeping into the basement. (hadn't had problems for many years).
Problem #1:
Was solved by adding a longer downspout extension to get the draining water farther into the driveway.
The original one had been bumped when I was snow-blowing, and was draining into the dirt next to the house.

Problem #2:
Was solved by disassembling the flex joint in the down-spout, and cleaning out the solidly packed leaf buildup.

New arrival, good price on FB Marketplace.
Will be good for blowing out the garage, and driveway & sidewalk after mowing.

Damn @jon72vega I don’t miss that kinda drive at all.
It was those 0 dark thirty, white knuckle commutes that sent to AZ in the first place.
Little did I know I’d be back 6 years later for another 11 years in Michigan.

Be safe out there.

That's about the only thing I miss about my commute. My little Sonic was a freaking snowplow at anything under 4". Gave me a perverse kind of joy to fly by all the kids in their fancy 4x4's and gents in their expensive AWD SUV's. I'd fly by them like they were towing anchors.

On another note, do you have any snow left in your yard, Jon? All we have left is the ridges where I plowed along the driveway. Heck, I might get the motorcycle out tomorrow,....if I get Robin's Cruze done enough to move it.

I learned to drive in the Upper Peninsula in Munising on the shores of Lake Superior.
We had lake effect snow there many many times.

Not much gets to me driving as long as I can see the road.
Visibility was very poor that morning.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and your Family!

Not much snow remaining.

Just curious if you have any of the older dewalt 18v tools? The tools were and are great, but the batteries are crappy and need an upgrade. I need to buy the 18-20 volt adapter and buy new batteries or since my plug in Milwaukee tools seem to be even better quality I might just buy new Milwaukee 18v and start a new collection. I might have 10 dewalt 18v and 30 Ryobi 18v that could be replaced with new easily but most still work ok.

Hope you had a nice Christmas with a little snow and here’s to another good year in 2026 above dirt.

Drives,
I'm very happy with my DeWalt tools so far.
All my DeWalt tools are 20 volt.
Most of the battery powered tools that the maintenance men at work use are DeWalt, and that influenced my decision to invest in that brand.

Our Christmas was good, but was green & brown.
However... Mother Nature is more than making up for it today.
We were supposed to go to a family reunion east of Battle Creek for Mrs jon72vega, but it was cancelled because of the weather.

This is after the winds settled down somewhat.

Hopefully you can get at most of that with your snowblower. How much do you actually need to shovel?
I do 1 shovel wide in front of each of 5 garage doors, and 2 door stoops. Anything I shovel gets tossed to the side where I can get it with the tractor. :coffee:
