£1500.00 plus collection 250 miles away…….

So cheap.

.

Of course the fact that I was watching this video just before I fell asleep last night, and these are featured among the list of 12 old cars that are seen as bulletproof that should run “forever” now adds to the itch. And @djones1a Dennis said it’s good…. Adds to the allure.

The fact that I don’t seem to keep many cars longer than it takes to get them to the next level, with a fresh MOT before looking for the next charity case, except for the Astro, into its third year of ownership, though I would sell it to someone who needs it more than me, means I can see a small vision for this. The seed of it’s basic theme, which was possibly planted by @CraigRK
It’s a theme that I have loved for a long time. But never had the balls to execute.
In this case though…..😈😈😈😈

Watch this short video. You could change your religion by the end of it.

More photos below.

Yup……

I don’t know either.

Random wagon photo of what I believe is a brother of it.

I didn't realize you folks got that much snow. Or does the guvmint just want to destroy the vehicles? (Did I just say that out loud?)

Nope

At the risk of getting stoned (not the good kind either) the Brits as a bunch of dipshits on road.

Three flakes of snow and they panic.

Seven flakes…… snow day.

So gritting is none a lot.

@BobLon our resident foodie……

Dinner tonight.

2 kg pork joint in the oven, potatoes and some of Sarahs Brussels sprouts was amazing.

Obviously enough food for the two lodgers, Polish Robert and Pedro.

It was good.

The neighbor commented earlier about my footwear in the garage.

I guess he doesn’t know.

Modern cars ehhhh……

Then I realise my daily is an 05 model, soon to resort under the 21 year old moniker.

Came out of Morrisons after food shopping yesterday.
I’m pretty certain this is not unusual or vandalism.

The rear wiper arm, knurled bush and attachment all disintegrated.

Any simple solution , cheap source of replacements out there?

An outright delete is at the end of my tether but the rear glass gets very messy in the rain, so I prefer to find a solution.

Any advice on other model part interchangeability appreciated too.

I actually posted this here because I did look online and found possible replacement parts. Bet you the knurled pot metal bush is not included.

Life ehhhh ??

First overall idea that comes to mind, have you checked the local junk yards (I am assuming even mud island must have grave yard for cars)?

San the option 1 above, the “knurled bush” seems to be steel, you might be able to spot weld the area and then grind the weld into shape.

As for the wiper arm, do you know anyone with 3D primer and cad/cam software? They can possibly print the damaged second (not the whole arm, juts root piece).

In absence of the above option, you might try some kind of putty that dries to form a hard material which can be sanded and shaped. I have had good luck with this kind of putty. I can not remember what was the name of the putty that I bought from Home Depot but it seems the Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty might work as well. Supposedly it can be sanded to shape and painted. So you can use the putty on the outer surface of the damaged hole and then shape the inner surface to
Create a nice even nice hole.

I am not sure if JB weld will stick well to plastic but if does, it could be another option.

Ps
Professor AI claims JB weld will stick to may types of plastic!

Common issue with Renault rear wipers. I had to replace a similar wiper arm on my SIL’s Clio. I was able to get a spurious part for a lot less than the original item. Try Autodoc or similar. Aim for £10-15 ish.
Is this the correct one?

Or this?

IMHO, The other picture of the wagon is a much better choice. I have had the Chevy Caprice wagon, which is 99% the same as the Olds, I have driven the Delta 88 as a rental many times, and it is **** compared to the wagon. The peeling paint on the one you are considering is forever going to be a PITA! I respect it is your decision, so you may take my opinion for what it is, only you have to make the choice and be happy.

Limited on all fronts.

I love love love the wagons.

Regarding the paint…..

Let’s get creative.

If you are set on the Delta, check the number of miles on it. If the timing chain breaks, it will destroy the valves and maybe some pistons as the 3800 engine is an "interference" engine. I had an Olds 98 of similar vintage and the chain broke without warning, had to replace a bunch of bent valves, the heads have to come off for repair, which is expensive. Mine failed at just under 100k miles.

Couple of responses on the American thread

Why mess up a good thing. The powertrain is bulletproof and the ride is comfortable without being nauseating. Had this 36,000 mile '92 a few years back. Couldn't imagine changing a thing.

This was from the gold car posted below.

There are also a few pics of the 180k mile paint below.

I also asked about possibly tweaking performance and making it sound a bit more antisocial and got this response below.

No 3800 will ever sound good while being louder than stock. The best sounding muffs I found for them were actually the stock mufflers. Cut out the catalytic converter and resonator if it has one, increase pipe size from 2.25 to 3” from the downpipe back to the stock Y (if it’s dual exhaust) or to the single muffler if it’s only one. It’ll be louder but not obnoxious.

The only other muffler that I thought sounded decent behind a 3800 was a Dynomax Super Turbo. Really pulling from the memory banks here lol. I ran stock dual mufflers on the 513whp dyno pull and did an 11.37 in the 1/4 with them. I had a few other setups and nothing beat the stockers for sound and performance.

Not much about.

5 spoke alloys are EXPENSIVE for my application.

Steels……. Only the big hole ones could fake a bit of NASCAR vibes once you add red stripes and white letters.
