This box is a bit different, so I figured I'd share it. I got to see it when I bought the Art Steel (ASCO) box, shown in post #17,251 above.

It's made of heavy gauge steel and does not have drawer glides; just simple pull-out drawer boxes. The asymmetrical top drawer and door arrangement is unusual. 41.5" x 17" x 21.5" ($40 in Bremerton, Wa. on FB MP).

She didn't mention an asking price while I was there, but said it was also for sale. It looks useful, but I don't have room for another roller, nor do I need one.

EDIT, the top right drawer handle is off-center too, to make it align with the handle on the drawer below. The doors are simple plate steel panels. It's an odd one.

Would this fit in on this thread?
I recently got a 1940s Monarch Lathe "tooling cabinet".
These are not real common for the 10 EE lathes and I think there are even less of them around for the larger tool room models (12CK, 14C,etc) like this one. The drawer with the rack is for storing your collets and the shelves under it are for storing your chucks, faceplate, steady rest and the like.

I will approve this addition! Nice find.

I was happy to find this Duplex cantilever box at a Washoe City, NV yard sale on Saturday. It apparently had been used by a slot machine repairman so I just bought the box emptied out. IMG_4089.jpegIMG_4088.jpeg
I started cleaning it up yesterday. IMG_4161.jpegIMG_4164.jpegIMG_4163.jpeg
IMG_8465.jpegI was pleasantly surprised by how well the cantilever system still works.

I added some felt to this box found back in September. I’m trying to figure out what to store in it. I really like the box. IMG_5224.jpegIMG_5234.jpegIMG_5235.jpegIMG_5237.jpeg

I went by a Habitat store today in the Capital city and was picking up a few smalls in the tool area when I spotted this chest over near the light and chair area. With a tag of $28 I just picked it up and headed for the checkout. A very solid and heavy box without any real cancer issues. Shame it's missing it's three little drawers and all the pulls. Guess I'll be bending up some sheet metal to make some. Ed.IMG_7399.jpgIMG_7400.jpgIMG_7402.jpgIMG_7404.jpg

Congratulations!
Take a look at this thread and consider adding it (and in the future if you restore it and add the drawers, you can add to your current pic as pre and post restoration...

Great find, Ed! I hope you'll share the process/progress if you decide to make new drawers.

I passed on two Kennedy boxes when I bought my ASCO box (above). The big one was $75 and the smaller was $50. They were marked as sold not long afterwards, which wasn't surprising. Today, I noticed they're back up for sale (same seller) for $600 and $100 respectively. There must have been too much interest. $600 is crazy money. They couldn't find the front cover for the bigger box when it was cheaper. Apparently, that's a $525 cover!

Is there $500 in cash hidden in one of the drawers? Tucked under the front panel?

^^^That I do Jock. I might have to take you up on that! I did get a positive ID on the model from Lugz on the Blackhawk chest thread. Looks like it is a Big Chief 100 'W' box. Too bad missing all the tools. With the Christmas season upon us it will be a while before I get around to doing anything with it. Ed.Screenshot_11-12-2025_75849_archive.org.jpeg
I know where a couple of drawerfulls are.

I found this carry box at this morning’s Oakland estate sale. At first glance it had a Union look about it based on the shape of the corner supports and the flat handle on the tray. The inside looks to be the original color but I’m wondering about the exterior color. IMG_5475.jpegIMG_5476.jpegIMG_5478.jpegIMG_5479.jpeg
The markings on the plastic handle confirm Union as the maker.IMG_5480.jpeg

I also like those cantilever boxes, but I bet they make the Kennedy style cantilevers look light weight in comparison... I can't imagine what they weigh full!
The box is so heavy that I needed to find some relatively light items to store in it. It finally occurred to me that tape measure storage would be the perfect fit for the partitions in the box. I started on the project yesterday by removing mostly Lufkin tapes as well as some others cluttering up the Kennedy machinist box in the garage. Now I need to find some others stashed in various locations around the house. IMG_5539.jpegIMG_5540.jpeg

ORC, I might still have two drawers for that. It was my parts box, for the CAT marked one I got from Smokeshow. The badge is a re-pop I got through this place. Now I am looking for a CAT badge.

That would be awesome bmwrd0...They sure look right. I'm sure I can come up with some good trading stock and work something out. Too bad I don't have that CAT badge though. Might be a good excuse to finally get to see your basement treasure trove. Ed.

Ok gang…. What brand do you think this is? Came as a freebie with a set of Wizard sockets. I’m leaning towards Union, but that’s just a guess at this point. It’s 19” long and has Excelsior hardware, thinking the oval ident was for a Union decal, could be Huot also. There are signs of red around the hardware. It’s going to be stripped tomorrow and the resto begins. Hope to respray in its correct red. I’ll know later if the tray is the same or maybe gray??? No stamping anywhere, I like the vintage look…..Could be Dunlap too????

That Oval gave me an immediate thought, but it's not quite right...

Very cool find!

I’ve been digging to no avail. I thought maybe a tackle box, but it clearly has a socket tray. It has similar traits to all three brands but nothing conclusive. It’s been sitting idle in my shop for the last few months. Finally made it’s way up in the queue….

I still think the tell is in the tray. It’s for sockets not tackle….I’d been searching tackle boxes but none had the socket angled section.

at 19" wide, I'd think a 3/4" drive set if the head room on the trays can clear the sockets.
It’s funny, the 1/2” drive Wizard set that was in there was almost impossible to carry by the handle. The box would tilt to one side because of the weight distribution. The bottom needed to be full to have any success using the handle.
