Opinions…….

Spinners 🤮

Also a different car but same body shell and platform on the green one above. Tell me what it is.

Obviously Nobody modified these.

Well, not regularly or even irregularly.

They are truly looked on with disdain by most Americans it seems.

See screenshot below.

Of course I really don’t care much about these sorts of opinions.

Preferring to give things a go.

Been digging around online via Google.

Found this review.

Amazed at the variety of options.

Their winning drone, (you need to scroll down to it) seems to be an awesome bit of kit.

Off course I have no clue.

https://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=L&...=2ahUKEwjdpJaf-8GRAxX2QUEAHXayEXgQ0Qx6BAgPEAE

That winning camera is online only and it seems from New Zealand.

Not ever done anything like that but I don’t know if it’s a red flag at all.
I tend to trust and rarely see red flags.

.

I am always very vary of these ‘review’ sites that recommend a ‘best buy’, which has a huge list of ‘pros’ and the only ‘cons’ are; 1. Only available on-line, and 2. Often sold out due to high demand.
The recommended best buy is invariably some obscure brand and surprisingly is actually in stock and available if you click the link right now. Total scam if you ask me.
It might seem to be from NZ but undoubtedly will arrive ‘via’ China, if at all.

These apparent review sites seem to be out there for any item you can think of and the No1 recommendation will always be something that you’ve never heard of and, wait for it, only available on-line and apparently hard to get due to high demand, but luckily you can grab it right now if you act quickly.

Gotcha.

Yes !!

I have always been cautious too.

But this is a great reminder and highlight

I got a few recommendations to just buy DJI used off Marketplace.

Because they retain value.

I asked the seller to use the car this week. Yesterday he was 225 miles from home.
Today….. spotted in the wild.
Is that 'your' car?? Brilliant.

Yes, go for a used DJI. I picked one up local to me on Gumtree for £120, complete with 3 batteries, spare propellers etc. It's a great little article.

Good Morning Tom

Yes it is the one I have agreed to buy.

I asked the seller to use it for work this week.

On Monday it was 225 miles from home.

I trust it will be good to me too.

That is reassuring news, at least as far as power train/ mechanical is concerned ! Fingers crossed there will not be any major rust issues.

Depends on your viewpoint
I am an RC helicopter hobbyist from like 30 years ago to this day , so drones are second nature to me , especially since they all seem to be mode 2 controls- back in my day everyone was flying mode 1 , I was the maverick so it seems .
Drones are soooo cheap nowadays, if it were me I would buy new for maybe 40 pounds if it fulfils your wishes re: recording etc , then give away to your neighbours kid when done!.
Years ago I went for DJI at huge cost for a business venture - it was over 1000 pounds - but battery packs soon failed and huge software issues = expensive brick YMMV !

So for the next challenge…..

I don’t know which cars shared platforms with this Oldsmobile 88 but suspect there’s a few cars that had a ton of interchangeable features or parts.

So I guess Buick or Chevy may have been slightly more popular than olds etc.

My question then, is was anything more popular and more liable to get modified??

Any idiot with a grinder can cut a coil or more to make it look “cool” on YouTube or some fake *** television footage about “modifying” cars.

Are there any standard parts that can be used off the shelf to give a 2” static drop??

Maybe from one of the sportier versions??

When I look at this terrible picture of the 88 cruising down the highway at 70 moh it is running tall in my opinion.

You have your mission.

Don’t disappoint me now.

After all, it’s Friday night.

I just played a bit.

Also paid a bit of attention.

Found a few pictures.

Note: a hard NO to the spoked, spinners etc.

But lowered yes.

Need to find something compatible over here.

You do realize that most of those low rider cars have big wheels and small tires. Kind of ruins a nice car.

I may not expressly have said it……

I don’t like lowriders or those horrendous wheels for my own application despite loving the looknand art of them.

But….. I do want it lower.

More info in a while.

Rian, Oldsmobiles were meant to be rolling sofas.
Please don't pimp it out.
Found a few more pictures

One is on bags
One is missing springs outright

But I hope to find an alternative to the existing tall suspension.

Thx for sharing! Very interesting and novel idea! Many of these were very elaborately decorated at considerable effort and time.

Is this some kind of tradition that happens every year? How far is it from your neck of the woods?

This memory came up this week.

9 years ago @CraigRK came over to spend a day and we rebuilt the brakes on the C10.

It was the day I took one of my favourite photos of my shop and the truck, with the Stars and Stripes flying over me.

Took a long time and many other builds to make it back onto the resto, and despite hanging up my gloves, I have made a lot of progress this year.

Winter has stopped bodywork.

The chassis and below is completely rebuilt.
As was the motor and transmission.

Of course other things are going on in the background.

Thank you all for your help, support, encouragement, teasing and warnings.

On the contrary, it is we who have to thank you for sharing the details of this interesting build.

You’ve made great progress and have already tackled most of the difficult and time consuming steps of the C10 build. Come spring, you should be in great shape to compete the project.

Keep up the good work.

Do we start a collection thread and story this early??

Those who know me or have become accustomed with my questions will have deduced that I have another car incomming.

Planning and logistics are imperative here. Because I am a tight ***. Mainly because these vehicles have to wash their own faces.

So insurance, recovery, road tax and moving it 260 miles to my house are all DEAL BREAKERS.

Saying that….. I have found it all came up ✅✅✅✅

The fourth ✅ could have been dealt with by getting said car recovered. But where’s the fun in that. Plus, what’s the cost?

So I will be collecting and driving it home. Even that is not yet cast in stone.

So do I tell the story as it stands so far??

I have called the car Grizz’s Folly for now. All subject to change.

The dictionary definition of Folly is below.

What's another word for folly?
A foolish action, practice, idea, etc.; absurdity. the folly of performing without a rehearsal. Synonyms: lunacy, madness, injudiciousness, indiscretion, foolishness, mistake, rashness, imprudence.

Let me know.

In the vise world there is a saying, your vise your color. With this color scheme, this baby will for sure stand out.

BTW, you should not be surprised if the astronauts onboard the space station wave at you while driving it. 😀
