I'm in the camp of your property, your color. For me, that color doesn't work with that car. For my dad's 1936 Ford 5 window coupe hot rod, it would. If I wanted it green I would probably go more toward 2004 Ford expedition green.

In the vise world there is a saying, your vise your color. With this color scheme, this baby will for sure stand out.

BTW, you should not be surprised if the astronauts onboard the space station wave at you while driving it. 😀

Totally.

The colour scheme is far from decided.

But a £1500.00 car would look better with almost any colour 😉

We will see how it unfolds.

Thanks for your response Steve.

I have always said of people who attack others for doing whatever they don’t agree with, thst they should have bought it.

Great example is Steve Snyder of Snyders Junk yard in Pueblo Colorado. He rescues tons of old steel that he puts up for sale at sensible prices.
Yet, when he crushes or someone chops up a vehicle they buy from him, there’s loads of sad faces.
I say, you should have bought it before he crushed it.

The green wont be a solo colour.

But it will feature somewhere.

After the new paint job you could enter the Olds into a demolition derby!

Why?

I guess I'm in the minority, but I love the green.

JB

Thanks JB.

You also built a Godzilla Cobra.

I know this is weird and disjointed but here we go, in the interest of continuity.

Collection story of this the car that I saw advertised and on 6 December started investigating

A bit of procrastination and questions to Dennis my best friend in America who was positive about these cars, despite their image in America. FWD, V6, Retirement car.

So this is the car.

Many ideas and silly plans.

One of the important deal breakers was the girth of the car.
Note my Scenic in front of the alleyway

So I do agree with your car your colour, I also agree with it may never sell again with the wrong painjob…but it’s you shytbox so have fun right!

My brother had painted a very bright Big Bad Green Datsun 510 many years ago, was a polarizing choice inspired by our Uncles choice of that colour on a Turbo’d Lotus Cortina he built back in the 70s for road racing.

Well, putting the two recent subject matters , namely the color and girth, together, here is the best course of action. Paint the car black! I hear black makes girth look thinner, and therefore the car should fit through your driveway easily ! :)

If you don't like it when painted I'm sure it can always be changed again with a bit more time and money.

That said, upload the picture to Google Gemini (AI) for example, and ask it to change the colour to that green - or any other colours buzzing around your head... You'd be surprised at how well - and quickly - it can provide you with a mock up without touching the paint can.

I had my first foray into AI doing something similar at the weekend (seeing how a survivor would look restored) and I was a pretty impressed..

It takes a lot of skill to apply heavy metallics like that and not have them look like poop.

I won’t be doing matt black with purple flames.

But it would limit my Market by 20% if you include the concourse collector types.

Beyond that….. this will be a sub £5k “first American car” for someone who likes the show, more than the go.

It will be an acquired taste (or lack of taste)

But why be a 🐑 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 🐕

My kinda problem solving.

Also, as suggested, reverse fast, remove mirror obstacles.

Just go for it!

Thank you.

I don’t yet have any decent photos of the car (there may be a reason 😈)

But you know I like a decent photo.

So maybe I can do that when we get home.

Morning

I have a short list of tools that I am planning on taking along to collect the car.

Keeping in mind the trip starts with a 2 hour train trip.

So I am limited to a small backpack for living out of (as I am spending a few days at Craigs probably building something) and probably a small bag for “tools”.

Listed below.

Any recommendations on anything else to pack?

Small + large flat and Philips screwdrivers
Wireman’s pliers
Side cutters
Adjustable spanner X2
Ductape
Electrical tape
Some electrical wire
Fuses
Small jump pack
Multimeter
Hammer
Stanley knife
Light bulbs
Zip ties
Old sheet or blanket
Some rags.

Bag of prayers.

The trip may morph into a 1200 mile road trip to get home from the initial 250 mile straight home run I had planned. Keeping in mind, purchase and drive is sight unseen

Surely “Adventure”

Astro is looking great today.

Might be a good idea to also pack
1- Locking Pliers
2- Strap wrench
3- handheld code reader
4- Some steel tie wire

And most importantly :)
5- incense
6- Prayer book
7- rosary beads
8- decorative tissue box see video :

2- Strap wrench. - As above
3- handheld code reader - Don’t have one
4- Some steel tie wire - Cable/zip Ties ?

8 - Decorative tissue box is genius.
I’m sure it will happen.

The preamble to my car collection continues.

Been busy.

School of YouTube this morning

Noticed my YouTube channel ONLY HAS 888 subscribers

Sadly it ***** a bit But maybe I need to up my game?

Also to the garage to pull together a cereal killer starter kit

Bit of a load you know

Of course I have national recovery on this car

.

PS There may be a cryptic clue in one of the photos, as to me probably doing a 1000 mile detour before going home.

My first guess is that it has to do something with the two tone metallic painting, eg get help from an experienced friend to paint it or learn the best technique??

Getting your hands on some Hazy Jane beer is my second guess. But that is hell of a distance to get some beer.

So you are trying to get your hands on a “cat” named Jane, as a mate for George :) 😉. That is still hell of a long distance to get a “cat” and you know what they say about long distance relationships. Unless the “cat” is coming home with you:D;)!

I have not cast it in stone.

However, despite adventure, I asked Google about the cost of this adventure…….
1000 miles at an optimistic 30mpg (Imperial)

Easy maths.

But at £1.50/liter os $2.00 per liter it would be a Folly.

Remember that name?

Brewdog is Aberdeenshire based and given the approximate distances you've mentioned I assume your road trip will take you to the north?

Have a nice Christmas!

Christmas day.
48 hours before I head out towards Heathrow AirPort.
Meeting up with Craig at Terminal 5 and heading back to his house. That’s 205 miles from my home.
We get there probably after 8pm.

Train ticket bought online, thanks to Sarah the widow helping me navigate the “Trainline” online.

I have always seen the collection and return to my house as a real cost to ownership and acquisition.

After agreeing to buying the car, I asked the seller to continue using it as his daily too

So added to my Dartford toll account, Green Flag recovery, and obviously train ticket

So here we go.

The John Deere car.
I have a customer that just had his bike painted in a John Deere theme, not sure why as he's not a farmer but it's his bike and if it makes him happy good for him.

I'll click a picture if it's still in the shop in the new year, when the tins came back and on the shelf it was WTF but assembled I can't say I hate it, lol.

Merry Christmas Rian! Safe travels and looking forward to your new adventures.
