I put in my four hours around the plant today. Got some things fixed for sure, some things not for sure. We'll see when we go to use them.

Then I went over to Rocky's shop and put in an hour on the Brick. I got the muffler and cat off--remember to unplug the damned rear O2 sensor before dropping the muffler! I could have used a couple more hands there for a bit.

Ran into technical difficulties and said screw it--I'll get back on it first thing tomorrow.

Plugged my new innova 5610 scanner into our 17 santa fe. I got the scanner from the hot deals thread. My youngest is home, srs light is on. New scanner can read it. Code b149000, seems to be a RF seat sensor issue. When he comes home in the spring I'll pull it apart. New toy is fun. The bore scope and circuit tester they sent work too, was messing with those as well.

Then I cleaned some stuff up, threw some junk on FBMP, then rolled 4 more rolls of quarters in my slow moving coin rolling project lol.

Oh, and did quick modifications to 3 inflatables lol
Check the connector under the passenger seat I usually see these damaged by stuff shoved under the seat.

Hooked it up and.... lights still flashing. Gave it 5 minutes to charge and it was back to amber only - normal. Pushed the button and... Up goes the door! Success!

Back on the wall and good to go. Still have 8 caps left in case it fails again.

I spot an X-10 remote there . I guess I'm not the only one that still uses that system

2:30am Christmas Morning sewing with fire, Donut Shop Coffee and Alanis Morissette.

The $5 Menard’s microwave display is now up on wheels and mobile and is on its way to becoming a bodywork supply cart.

Shelves are up next.

Insomnia *****!!

Merry Christmas guys!!

These bits from CoreMark Metals are nice! Blew through 1/8 steel like it was paper.

Got an early start for a wrenchin' Christmas. I hopped over to Rocky's shop and started a fire to take the edge off.

Clocked in at the job for a few, as UPS delivered these yesterday:

Those go here:

to replace the SEL batteries that had died a while back.

They are charged by solar panels (in theory, anyway--this time of year, not so much). They run two 12V floodlights to illuminate our sign out front. I can't find any pictures of them in action right now.

Then back to the Brick. Making progress--I can actually see the timing cover now!

To be continued in my Vanagaru thread....

Now it's lunch time. Got a steak fajita burrito warming in the paint-curing oven. Mmm... Rustoleum!

I’ll take a closer look at the chisel when I get a chance. Most of this stuff has been in the boxes several decades. The very small hammer is all steel. Pretty hefty, should clean up nice but I’m curious what its use would have been.

We've had that for years. Only one thing on it since day one - the hot water recirculating pump. We only turn it on before showering, laundry, etc. It used to run 24x7 and, later, on a timer schedule. Our electric bill dropped considerably when we went to the timer but the pump wasn't running when we needed it many times. So, we went X-10 and on-demand. Works fine for us. Turn it on, wait about 5 minutes and more-or-less instant hot water. We have keypads upstairs, downstairs, and at two of the garage doors so we don't leave it running by accident.

Try as I might, I've never come up with a use for any other devices to control with it.

I hit them all with an abrasive disc in the die grinder so they are more rounded than they appear. I thought about putting a nice radius on each, but this was already more of a time sink than I wanted it to be.
Wait til you get older and your skin gets cheesy. Then you'll wish you'd rounded them off more. I'm still paying for those kind of decisions made in my 20s.

We also use X-10 to run the recirc pump as needed for about 19 years now. I timed how long it takes to get hot water to the kitchen, laundry and back bathroom so can turn it on for that period of time, then turn it off. Only problem is the occasional time when the signal doesn't get to the pump. Minor problem though. Thought about switching to new tec (zwave. Leviton) but haven't so far.

Little more work on the Menard's microwave display I am turning into a bodywork supply / tool cart.

Got some of the shelf brackets (1" X1" X 1/8th" angle steel) welded on with the help of plenty of coffee and Guns n Roses.

FWIW, This Hobart 210 MVP welder is some of the best money I have ever spent!

We've not had a problem with the ON signal that I recall. Always concerned about the OFF. Seems it sometimes takes a long press to trigger.

Just as a helper to ensure it's off, I added an inexpensive "Jelly Jar" lamp mounted next to the water heater up near the top door jamb of the man door. I put a 3-way adapter on the X-10 relay so they're powered together. A quick peek in the garage and I can easily tell if the water is on or off. That's also the reason for the keypad in the garage. Easy to turn off as we leave, if necessary.
