Every year there is a Garage Sale thread, in which people list and show what they found on the second hand market: garage sales, thrift stores, Restores, estate sales, what have you. As long as it is used, it goes. There are other rules that vary from year to year, but you get the drift. The readers and participants vote on who hosts it the next year, usually by number of posts made in the thread.

I will also have to respectfully decline. We’re in the midst of a few life transitions and it’s becoming an ever increasing time drain. While I check the thread everyday, I haven’t been actively posting or hitting sales. Good luck to the eventual ‘winner.’

Besides opening the thread, what does the "host" do?

The main "duties" are to set up the new thread, keep an eye on things (like enforcing the no-crotch-shot rule), and nominating a successor.

Additionally, being a cheerleader and adding special "Picker of the Year" - type awards are optional, but help keep things fun.

In other words, not much, LOL...
