This seal is where the stock mid shift shaft goes through the primary on my shovelhead Harley. I have forward controls so I don't need it.

Apparently most guys stick a bolt and nut in there. I'd rather not if possible. Is there a version of this seal that is completely closed off? Essentially a mid shift delete seal.

what year & model?
if 70-84 shovel, then yes as the FX models typically had the mid controls & the FL used a blank cover on the outer primary cover.

ok, so just get the FLH type blank inspection cover. v-twin sells them, part number 42-0601.
they fit from 1970-2006
I'm talking about where it goes through the inner primary.

My fault, I see I left out the word inner in my op.

i didn't look it up, but I'm sure v-twin sells a plug to seal the FX shift lever hole for the inner primary.
another option would be to drill & tap the hole & insert a pipe plug to seal it.
