What do you guys think? I can drain these totes and leave the valve open. Or I can fill them up with about 300 gallons of water and leave the valve closed.

Projected temperatures are about 15 F at night for 3 days. Warms up above freezing during the day. These things have a sort of a pallet on the bottom so they don’t rest on the warm ground.

I think I’m gonna go ahead and empty him. Seems like there’s less chance of damage that way.

Do any of you guys in the Great White North know about this type thing?

Thanks

Drain them if its an option.

If that's not possible, totes are surprisingly durable. Until they are mot.

1200 gallons. I’m sure the oaks will appreciate it.

Less trouble than sourcing and replacing those valves.

I use IBC totes for rainwater collection and I fully drain them well before winter - usually in Oct/Nov when I'm doing my yearly swap between summer and winter equipment, and the garden is all put away for the year.

I meant it in the nicest way possible. We learned the hard way when my son started living in a 5th wheel full time to build his house. Not fun having to fix the black side :poop::sick:

I got ya. Context is important and sometimes difficult to express here. I'm not sure there's a way to NOT get frozen in a travel trailer. We were 3 years into traveling so we knew the ropes except -10 weather. We couldn't escape it. That was the forward grey tank which was empty actually. This trailer froze three times in different circumstances. LOL
Thanks for that.
