To each his own - but I would lay off the No. 74 (4 INCH), if you were lucky enough to ever find one. Those are rare and command significantly higher prices in informed markets.

Here is a weekend find. I was trying to be subtle and decipher the name from the remnants of the torn up decal on the retaining bar (FFALONY) was not making any sense, no pattern recognition. Opened the retaining bar, and saw Keystone Mfg Buffalo NY, and felt kinda' foolish. I did not see any like this with the screwdriver bit posted above. 9" OAL on the case.



The set is complete, with 8 hex sockets, still in order, a screwdriver bit (damaged tip), and the long hex drive wrench (7/16"). The tray and retaining bar are both in good shape, except for the decal being partially destroyed. Was just too nice to leave behind for a few $$. 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 7/8, 15/16 hex sockets. All are a bit surface rusty, but nothing too terrible.


Did not see this set in any of the catalogs available (2 or 3?) in ITCL, or posted above.

Recently received this Keystone #222 with a bulk purchase. Disappointed to find a generic hex wrench with a Japan labeled drive plug and 12 point sockets that look more Indestro. So, I've got the box, know what is supposed to be in it, but need to know what the Keystone sockets look like for this set. Hopefully their L handle was marked?

Tom - I just clicked through my "Keystone" folder, and I am not seeing anything marked on the "ell" handles in any of the three sets I owned (all of which have been sold) or in any of the ebay photos I've harvested off the web.

IF there was anything marked on the "ell" handle, odds are I would have propped the thing up in order to get a photo of whatever was marked on the "ell" handle for the ebay ad.
So... if I had to guess, I would say no, they did not mark any of MY "ell" handles.

They Keystone model 222 socket set can be found on Page 25 of the 1931 Keystone catalog. Says the "ell" handle is only 6½" long.

I would imagine the original sockets probably looked the same as those in my 555 "Soc-Kit" sets on the previous page. "Ell" handle from the 555 kit below:

AA shows some that have a single band of knurling and are stepped rather than straight-walled.

The one stamped "MADE IN U.S.A." I thought at first was Dunlap, but all my photos of Dunlap sockets show a different (crosshatch) knurling pattern.

It’s probably Sears price line post 1960. Prior to 1960 they were marked Dunlap.
They offered them in metric and Whitworth as well.

An interesting ratchet. Had to have it!

Reverses via spring loaded switch at the bottom, similar to several other tools. Pull the switch out and rotate.

I removed the retaining ring but the guts wouldn’t budge, even in the neutral position. Works great so I’m happy about that.

Here's the pics again of my Keystone wrench, as posted on the thread referenced above.

This one arrived on the farm here some time before 1936 as part of the tool kit of a 'Standard Fordson' model N tractor, or possibly a model F.
It says 'FORDSON THE KEYSTONE MFG CO' on one side
and 'BUFFALO NY USA 10 INCH NO 80. ' on the other

Seeing the script on the handle always seems so evocative to me....

I just picked up one of these today.....in France!!
