this was the first bike i restored from a basket case back in 1992-93. this is one of my keep forever bikes. i have a few others.....

shop drama update: spent the whole day running around dealing with the title / permit issue.
went to to talk with the county supervisor about the title being in my trust. no joy there, said it has to be in my name. called a friend at the title co who quickly fixed the docs, the wife drove there to sign & then i was able to go sign & pu the doc.
returned to the permit palace, showed them the new docs in process & they accepted them, so i raced to the county to get the new deed recorded. by the time i got back home the new electric permit was emailed to me, so i'm back in business. total cost was only $87.00 & a half tank of diesel!

i also picked up most of the rest of the fittings for the air lines since they will be hidden behind drywall. ended up installing about 355' of tubing for it. i was short 3 special fittings so i'll order them from amazon tonight.

the two commercial steel entry doors were delivered today. $1800 each!!! buy once, cry once, right?!?

sounds like the painter might start tomorrow since were having a gap in the rain for a few days. as soon as it's painted the metal roofing will start.

i have to tidy up a few things & then can call for a rough electric inspection.....again.

I like 'em all, the Panhead is one I like maybe more.

The Capri was probably about a '71-'72, the parents had two, a 2000cc SOHC inline-4 bought new & a 2600cc V-6. The 2000cc car was a 4 speed I believe, and a lot of fun to drive, more-than the V6 was.

looks like the painters got the whole building primed yesterday while i was inside working on the electrical system.

i fixed a couple issues the inspector had from last week & called for an inspection for the feeders & rough electrical for yesterday.
he came out, looked around & PASSED both, so i am good to go now. 3 big sub panels, 330 or so outlet/switch boxes, 6,000' +/- wire i designed & installed, many hundreds of holes drilled in studs, joists, & top plates, whew, my hands still hurt!
air lines are all done, electric is all done. were doing some framing punch list items today. i am almost finished with all the exhaust fans & duct work. the last thing holding me up before insulation & drywall is getting the 4 line sets for the ductless heat pumps installed.
i can't seem to decide on a brand of equipment to buy. i need to focus on that & get them ordered asap now.

Mitsubishi and Daiken would be my first choice after 40 years in the biz. Note that some Trane units are re-badged Mitsus. Look for a certified Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Elite Contractor....I think they still offer 12 year extended warrantees and other perks.Try to get several quotes and please be careful.There are a lot of companies doing sh*t work in this field.

this 1933 Willys coupe (steel body, doors, & truck lid, glass front end & fenders) was my wife's daily driver for a couple years.
we've had 10 rottweilers over the last 30 years. a few rode in the car with her for vet visits, etc. it was too hard for her to load 40 lb bags of dog food into the tiny trunk, so we ended up selling it & getting a 1938 Willys sedan delivery.

this was my first Willys, an all steel (except the center section) 1940 coupe. i replaced a ton of parts, tubbed it, added a cage, & a blown small block chevy with aluminum heads.

this was my second Willys, a steel body & doors, the rest was glass. alston tube chassis, 4 link, etc.
started with a carbureted .060 over 396 BBC, then a 439 blown alcohol BBC, then an aluminum block 477 blown alcohol BBC. best time was 7.43 with that combo. i was only licenced for 7.50 as was the chassis. the nhra tech guys were going to pull the chassis cert & my license if i didn't slow it down, which i thought was dumb, so i sold it & built a chromoly tube chassis car with a glass body that was certed for 6.0 & got my advanced e.t. license. this was a very dumb move financially.....

i've been driving myself nuts overthinking the heat pumps, originally planned on having 4, (3 in the museum, one in the bike shop).
can't make up my mind on brands, over analyzing, etc.
i need to order them today.
i need to get the line sets & condensate drain lines run asap so i can insulate & start drywall.

Thank you, i have quite a few in my collection. almost all are Harley-Davidson. most are pre war (ww2) some are pre great war (ww1)
this 1911 HD model 7-A is a fun bike to putt around on.

I wonder if you might know a buddy of mine, out of N Las Vegas…. He’s got among other old bikes, a 1929 JDS, and piles of old NOS Harley parts from dealership closings and whatnot over the years. The JDS is about his favorite as well, although he’s in his 80’s now he still gets out and rides some.

I had a ‘47 knuckle that I sold a beautiful ‘58 pan to buy…. Worst bike I have ever owned. I couldn’t get that thing right for the life of me so I sold it and went back to pans and shovels until I got my ‘91 FLHTC. 167,000 miles and still rolling…. I’ll die with that bike.

Anyway, back to your thread, which is now one of my favorites here! You have a very cool place!

i ordered the 4 heat pumps monday.
tuesday they called & said they were on backorder & offered to substitute an upgraded unit instead.
wednesday i called & said ok.
thursday at noon the trucker said he was delivering them in 5 minutes!
so now i have the 4 heat pumps & can get started on the installation.

also yesterday amazon delivered the 5 lantern lights that match the house and the outdoor wall brackets for the 4 heat pumps.

The depth and breadth of that collection is amazing! I'm slowing down in my elder years, and need to complete things I've acquired and have been waiting to work upon them. We have 1 big project of a car to do, I took it as-far as I can in a 2 car attached garage, and now it's in a pro's hands.

There's a AMCA show south of Ft. Lauderdale FL in 8 days, there usually is a decent turnout, 250+ motorcycles on display, from pre-WW 1 to contemporary customs, and walking through the parking, you see some interesting things. I always manage to buy some parts or collectible things for garage display every year. I know the husband & wife who manage it, the park where it's held is named after her family.

i temporarily mounted the three 100 watt led wall pack flood lights to see how bright they are.
thinking i might want to add another one over the center window.
i figure more is better than less, but need to get the blocking in for it quickly before the painters show up.

I was gone for the month of september riding my 1925 Harley JD across the country, from Nags Head Lighthouse , North Carolina to Heceta Head Lighthouse Oregon.
I made it 2,632 miles when the rod bearings failed, so I rode a friend's Indian for a few days, then rode the 1935 Harley VLD I had brought as a backup, then ran home the night before the finish & grabbed my favorite bike to ride to make it across the finish line, a 1928 Harley JDH 2 cam.

That old red Harley is bad ***, I’m assuming it’s the 1928 you mentioned?

no, the red one is a 1925 Harley JDCB & is my main long distance bike.
the 1928 Harley JDH 2 cam blue bobber is my favorite one to ride & very fast (for a 1928).

got back from the vegas mecum motorcycle auction. bid on a few bikes, but didn't get any. thought i had a parking lot deal on two that didn't sell, but the owner wanted 1k more than i offered for the pair & I passed on them. probably for the best as I need to keep throwing money at the shop build. the only thing i brought back from vegas was a case of influenza A, so that is slowing me down. i did pick up a pile of Harley JD parts in San Jose on my way home though.
while i was gone the weather in oregon got nice & the painters were able to finish spraying the shop, so i was able to install some of the flood lights & admire the coverage. i decided to add a third one over the middle window to light up the yard area for night time loading/unloading. it's very bright now. the roofer started installing the metal trim flashings that cover all the fascia boards & the metal roofing will start being rolled onsite monday, so we are making steady progress.

still sick with the flu, not much energy, so no progress on the shop building, so i'll post another pic of one of my bikes.
this one is a 1915 Harley twin model 11-F. it was owned by Bud Ekins. i keep a sidecar on it for delivering packages to the post office. runs great.

mounted the 4 heat pumps with wall brackets today.
painters are just about done with the trim.
all the metal roof panels were formed onsite today, hopefully they start installing them tomorrow as most of the flashings are installed.

the rest of the panels will be rolled onsite monday.
the 4 line sets & condensate drains are done for the heat pumps.
hopefully the roof will be done by the end of next week, then gutters & downspouts get installed.

got some steel tubing friday & my friend John came over sunday & we fabricated the elevator cab for the new shop.
it's just under 4' x 8' x 8' tall.
2X3 main tubes, 2x2 uprights, 1x2 base supports, all 3/16" thick. should easily handle 2,000 lbs capacity.
i'm thinking 3/4 plywood for the platform deck with a metal cover over it.
i'll test fit everything before getting it powder coated & permanently installed.

What an awesome build! Looking forward to watching it progress. It is always exciting planning and setting up a new shop. I’ve found that the bigger the shop, the more stuff I put in it. LOL
