Swapped out the oil pressure sender in the wife's wagon. I had replaced it about a year ago and I think it was leaking from the where it threaded into the fitting, it had Teflon tape to seal the threads. The new one has some sort of thread sealant on it. The intake manifold is also leaking from the china rail, which is a common issue with the LT-1, that's a project for sometime in the spring along with valve cover gaskets.

there is a **** ton of gunk on the back of the engine! but it does have 186,*** miles on it...

Just looked up on Amazon - currently $73 usd, it would be interesting to know how much it costs in your neighborhood. Purchase history shows I paid less, as I bought it in January of 2016. How embarrassing that it was sitting around uninstalled for that long. Of course, my job was really intense then, so I just never got to it. The woodshop became a cluttered mess that is just now getting addressed.
My whole shed looks like a bomb has gone off

Nice, we haven't had new cabovers here in at least 25 years.
Wow !
many companies running b-doubles use cabovers to keep inside the length restrictions
I love cabovers. International Transtar IIs were my favorite. I drove a different pair every day for about a year.
I like the cabovers as well , specially getting into somewhere tight and the fact that I can look out of the window easy if I need to watch the trailer

She Who Must Be Obeyed asked for help with a few projects “we” agreed to donate to the private Catholic school that our smallest two offspring attend. Each year there is a fancy meal fundraiser that has a live auction at the end of it and features a class project for each of the classes from Preschool to 5th Grade. It’s a riot of a good time with lots of alum attending (myself and Mama Bear included) and all kinds of money being raised.

2nd grade was a checkers/chess board and each student got to decorate a square. In progress picture of adhering the outside trim while using a calculated amount of contained lead weights to keep the board from bowing and bending.
IMG_5634.jpeg

Finished product. “We” spent close to 6hrs on this thing. Seeing as I have a 2nd grader I’m going to try my best to bring it home. Gonna show up with a gangster roll of money with a $100 bill on the outside to intimidate everyone lol
IMG_5636.jpeg

The 4th grade project was a little more fun. The kids wrote a Bible verse on a chunk of wood and Mama Bear burnt it into the wood. What I don’t have pictures of are of Mama Bear telling me to “make a bunch of pieces of wood random thicknesses and sizes please hunny” and me politely handing her a piece of paper and a pencil and saying “cut list please”. I glued it all to a chunk of plywood cut out to be 3/8” smaller than the outline of the “random” pieces of wood. I may be biased but I think it turnt out decent.

Replaced the cutting deck on the ride on mower, sat in the shed drinking beer and sweating while trying to sort some **** out on the computer, I swear my patience is decreasing at an ever increasing rate, I wanted to punch that monitor and throw the whole effing thing on the floor

When you lose your patience, put some shrimp on the barbie.

The “Ute” looks to be marking its spot. It’s leaking oil it has oil so it’ll be okay !!

lmao, this is funny :D
Funny but true. An unhappy Mama Bear is not something I like to be near. Lots of rawr words about emotional things and it usually circles around to “oh and when you (insert thing I do less than to her liking) it reaaaaaally frustrates me and ……”.

I love her and we all need to vent sometimes so I let her go. She puts up with me and all the silly things I do so it’s more than a fair trade in my eyes.

Like when I send her pictures like this and she doesn’t kill me when she gets home ….

I mainly only BBQ meat, we don't even call it shrimp, is shrimp what you guys would call it normally ?
Yes. Off the coast of Texas we have brown, white, and pink shrimp, and some other kind of small shrimp that is a bit more rare. We do get prawns occasionally in the markets, but they are not local as far as I know. Some of the prawns look more like small lobsters to me. I am not too sure what the difference between a prawn and a shrimp is but probably has something to do with how they are classified taxonomically.

It does leak a little, rear main seal was replaced when clutch was done but it didn't stay dry long, at 352,000 km I'm gonna guess the crank has a bit more movement than when new, although the what you see in the pic is water from the A/C drain

hahahahaha, that's gold !
my wife also gets stupid **** from me

Shrimp or prawns on the barbie seems to me to be a Southern California thing--at least, that's where I first and most often encountered it.

Hereabouts, prawn are just big shrimp--I think there's even a legal definition for advertising purposes. Something like 12/pound weight or less--because that's how we grade shrimp.

Shrimp is also 'Murican vernacular for small or insignificant.

Too damn cold to work in the garage, so I worked inside our new Hobby/Crafting room. (See my Thread....

The Hobby/Crafting Room Project with Progress Pic

Disassembled my ship porthole clock. Cleaned, polished and reset the glass face in the brass cover. Finally replaced the battery and hung it up over the work bench.

Cleaned and sharpened a third set of Wiss scissors acquired from Dad’s house. Pretty sure that all three were Mom’s.

A few years ago, I got tired of making clip leads, so I bought a bag of premade leads from one of my electronics suppliers. Can’t remeber which one, so I can’t name and shame.

Was trying to use a couple the other day, and found that they were not actually conducting, end to end. Found this craptastic “crimp” assembly.

IMG_8573.jpeg

So, disassemble, solder, reassemble. Almost as much fun as making my own, which I didn’t like doing, which is why I bought the bag of leads in the first place.

Repeat until done.

yeah, I think going back to some advertisement thing with Paul Hogan ( an Aussie celebrity) was where a shrimp on the barbie was promoted as our way of life
and yeah, as kids if someone was a shrimp they were small

crazy isn't it ?
you purchase something to save the hassle of doing it yourself and then find out you have to do it yourself to get it done right

Prawns vs Shrimp - I had to know, now you know as well...

"While shrimp and prawns are both ten-legged crustaceans, the primary differences lie in their gill structure, body shape, and habitat. Prawns have branch-like gills, three sets of claws, and straighter bodies, while shrimp have plate-like gills, two sets of claws, and a distinctive sharp, bent, or "humped" body shape. "

Added 80 gal--so far--to the glycol back in the shop. The 55 gal. drum of concentrated propylene glycol arrived two days ago. It's been warming in the shop--this stuff is thick, and being cold don't help any.

55082198680_bb438e6279_o.jpg

One 5 gal. bucket at a time.... The flow meter in the hose in the first pic is so I can calibrate the bucket. There's no 5 gal. line on it.

It's one bucket of glycol--extremely heavy--and two of water. Now I'm adding straight glycol to bring the gravity of the soup up to the desired 27 Brix (gotta love brewer's measurements). Add five gallons, wait... check with the refractometer... add another five... wait... rinse and repeat.

While I wasn't doing that, I played with food some more:

55081971618_1528b6def5_o.jpg

This week's special. Locally-raised buffalo (bison) burger w/gouda cheese, bacon and candied jalapeno peppers. Yum!

Back to taking gravities and lugging buckets....
Why do you need so much antifreeze?

Seeing your ute reminds me. Why do I see little antennas on the roo/bull bars on Australian utes in videos? Is it a common thing? It would have driven me wild seeing that poking up above the hood on my D21/Navara. I engineered my plow/winch frame so that the plow lights were just at the edge of the hood.

You got luckier than t I did when I bought some cheap Azon leads a few years back. They didn't have conductors in the sheathing--it was just little, hollow tubes!

We're a brewery. We need to refrigerate our product to control fermentation--and to halt it when we reach our goal. Fermentation generates heat, especially when it's 3,300 gallons of wort brewing in a 100 brewer's barrel (33 gal) fermenter.

We have eleven fermenters and three chiller systems for the glycol. The more glycol we have in the glycol back (cold storage tank), the more of a "buffer" we have, keeping the chillers from short-cycling.

We also have several slow leaks from the jackets of some of the fermenters. These are difficult to repair, so we just top up every few years.

If anyone with sanitary and pressure vessel welding certification wants to work for beer in a remote and scenic mountain valley, PM me!

Today is mostly out-of-shop--I hope.

I have an "office" in beautiful Downtown Enterprise, OR that I've been renting for about thirty years. It's a hold-over from the days when I ran a small photography and biological contracting business. The rent began as in-trade for helping maintain City infrastructure, turned into actual money and has been increasing ever since. For the last twenty years or so I've just been using it for a very expensive storage unit--and most of that can go into a dumpster.

It's a daunting prospect:

55083162836_4e350d536b_o.jpg

My soldering bench is on the right, left over from when I was also designing and building analog control circuits for the brewery. The drafting table was my product photography bench.

55083162841_faa8051611_o.jpg

Back in the day, we saved the boxes our expensive photo gear came in just in case we ever needed to return them for repair. Nowadays, companies specify that they don't want the original packaging used. Those aren't, for the most part, even recyclable at our local center--they only take corrugated cardboard. More **** for the dumpster.

55083529230_e54cce54ee_o.jpg

55082265882_1761226f9e_o.jpg

More mostly ****--some of which was pretty damned expensive thirty years ago and is now utterly obsolete. Anyone need a few hundred unused CDRs, CDRWs and DVDRs? Remember when the very idea of 144Mb of portable storage gave you a woody?

How about a really expensive photographer's backpack that's never been used?

55082265887_1df0183464_o.jpg

55082265892_7f91761bcf_o.jpg

Or a 1990s CRT computer monitor? That one was graphics rated!

I see there'll be at least one run to the electronics bin at the dump....

Gotta load up on garbage bags, a cart for hauling heavier stuff out to the rig, maybe some gloves....

I'm getting to use the Van for real van stuff!

I'm sure there are also a few real treasures hiding among all the junk. I sure hope so.

The dumpster at the apartment building where my office is located is full, so I'm hauling this junk back here where our dumpster gets emptied twice weekly. I'll probably make at least one or two dump runs, too.

@Beerhippie

Stop the bleed and terminate the rent on the inefficient storage/rental/faux office.

Good.
That's the plan. I rented an actual storage unit for less than half what I'm paying for the "office". I have until the end of the month to get this place cleaned out. I don't even recall if there was ever a deposit or first-last paid.

I think most of the furniture--like the '90s computer desk and '70s school desk--can go out on the sidewalk with a FREE sign. Hope that works. Might get the city pissed off at me... again.

I worked in a bottling plant for the last 19 years & one of our high-speed fillers (1200 bpm) needed the product chilled to 34°F or else it would foam. An ammonia chiller cooled the 30% glycol solution.
What's the target temp for your glycol loop?

We aim for 25F. The product still has to be chilled before canning to minimize foaming. We aim for a product temp of 32F.

Our chiller units use regular refrigerants--the old one R22--which I stocked up on years ago--and the two newer ones... I forget. Nothing flammable or highly toxic.

Put a serious dent in the office move project. We hauled off a short ton of old e-waste and three 55 gal. bags of just trash.

I struggle with this stuff. Things I haven't touched in fifteen-odd years still feel like they have value. But I'm getting pretty cut-throat with the disposal. Still struggling with things like a few hundred brand-new CDRs and CDRWs... but they'll probably end up at the dump, too. I mean, I do still have a computer with two Lite-On CD/DVD reader/writer drives. Finalize now?

I figure tomorrow is a wrenching day--I need to do something about the awful pedal feel of the accelerator in the Brick. Right now, it's struggle to do anything but accelerate or decelerate. I can pick away at the office move a little each evening after work. I have until the end of the month, so no great hurry.
