Nah, I didn't know before someone mentioned it online that I will be intubated - yeeeow! I hear that's pretty standard with patients under full anesthesia. Ok, but it weirds me out though of course I'll theoretically never know it.

I never saw anything past that first turn (about 10') - I was out. When I woke up in recovery, I could tell I had been intubated as I had a slight sore throat. And, I had been shaved and had a catheter.

So... Yes, things will be done. Don't let it weird you out. It's no big deal and you'll get through it just fine. What upset me the most is I really wanted to see the operating theater and the DaVinci robot. Missed it all - didn't even see the door.

So this happened today:


90,000 is unremarkable except warranty runs out @ 100,000 miles/late December. The 3.0 Duramax inline six is a fantastic engine. Great power for only 3 liters, great mpg in a full sized truck.
BUT, all new vehicles they have so much tech to be clean & squeeze out every mpg they lose reliability. I've had the transmission rebuilt, motor mounts, fuel filter housing replaced, and the coolant control valve ($$$$) all done. All under warranty and I've only owned it 28,000 miles! There are several more possible common issues. I've been researching but apparently none of the newer 1/2 ton trucks have much better reliability INCLUDING Toyotas. I LOVE this truck, it's the highest trim level, comfortable, does all I need but I'm fearful after warranty.

6.0? Are you talking about the old LQ4 or LQ9? Neither has been made since 2007 so almost 20 years ago.

I wish there was a new-ish truck I could afford to replace mine with that had a strong reliability rep. I'd like a new Silverado 3.0 Duramax but only if I could afford a strong extended warranty. I've thought of going back to a 5.3 or 6.2 gasser but they also have issues related to cylinder deactivation tech. Problems are cam and lifter failures and haven't been solved by GM. On top of all that my '21 High Country has ALL the "bells & whistles" so I'm spoiled. I can't afford to buy a new truck so highly optioned and if I buy a certified used much lower mileage one the warranty running out is still a concern. Anyway, no idea what I'll do yet. Keep driving mine and fingers crossed nothing big happens that's not warranty covered.

Should have been more clear I guess. The "dreaded" 6.0 Navistar/Ford diesel. Yes my newest one is an 07. Paid $10K for it with 90K. That's fine by me as it has no "Nannytronics" to spy on me, and report my driving habits to the overlords. My first one had a lot of the "creature comforts, and gee-gaws" which I have saved, but after living with the spartan model for a while I wonder if they are even worth it. I pretty much use it for commuting when the weather *****, and pulling the toyhauler.

Well gentlemen, my shoulder replacement surgery is tomorrow very early AM. There's a whole sequence of prep I'm doing tonight/; shower as hot as possible, wait 2 hrs, use prescription ******** antiseptic wipe according to a human boy diagram I was given. All freshly laundered bedding and night ware.
Of course I had to ask about whether I could allow my dog to sleep on the bed with me. The answer was yes - surprisingly. But just to be crazy carful I had them groomed today. They're as clean and fresh as they get.

If I don't post,.... well you know things didn't go well.....or go AT ALL! LOL. I'm sure I'll be fine after the first few days of opioids.

Good luck, bud! Will be waiting for a report - I may have one of these surgeries in my future, just trying to put it off as long as possible. Shoulder only hurts in the morning when I get up - tolerable for now. Have already had 2 rotator cuff surgeries on this one.

Thanks all you guys for the words.

The deed is done. Still in hospital bed but I’ll be released about noon. Nerve block went in after they put me under about 7:45am yesterday. I felt it becoming ineffective about 6am today. I’ve was given 2 Tylenol and an OxyContin then. I can feel some ache coming through. Hopefully it doesn’t gets much worse. Maybe (?) they’ll give me. something stronger. At least for the few days.1

Thanks guys. Surgeon used Super Glue on surface, a bunch of stitches below. Good news is I can shower right away without covering incision at all. Surprised me. Just can’t rub hard. Let it get wet and tamp dry softly.

Funny but I've wondered why "they" haven't re-booted the "$6 Million Man" or the "Bionic Woman"? They've long since done crappy ones. Good ideas that thy didn't pull
The truth is that there are more successful artificial human body parts than ever before in history.
Seems like it would only need a LITTLE exaggeration to make them believable. There are already ecto-skeletons, artificial hearts. Transplant say the brutal strength of a silver back gorilla into a brilliant scientist who. While they're at it, say they develop a drone - as yetn absolute state of the art drone built into the guy. They could have more and more technical advancements for sequel 2, 3, 4.

Looong and slow. But thanks for asking.
Been home 4-1/2 days and just took my 2nd shower. Wow, it never felt so good. Takes a lot of "gear" - shower chair, non-slip mat, long loofah, a shower glove thing, shaving one handed but all felt great, Waterproof clear tape over incision so no worries.

But all the **********, re-dressing and now sitting w/arm only on a pillow makes me ache pretty hard. I'm pretty good in day time with ice machine, Tylenol, etc but deep in night I can't sleep cause of hard aches so I'm asking for refill on oxycodone.

PT visit yesterday & RN visit today. Both say I'm doing well. PT said I'm ahead of schedule as she got my shoulder out to 90 degrees a week after surgery when many don't until a month. It ached pretty hard after so iced it a couple hours.
Showered, dressed & out to Glendora Village with SWMBO, my sister & brother-in-law. First time out of house since surgery. All went well. People do notice the giant immobilizer sling. One made an "eek" face but didn't say anything.

More icing tonight and an oxi before sleeping.
