I know some of you will give me some good advice.
What I am looking for is a Cordless Impact that would best suit the following:

Needs to fit into tight spaces. Removing car bumpers, fenders and so on.

Hold a good charge as it may only be used once a month.

Strong enough to break rusty bolts on vehicles such as those that hold gas tank straps.

hold up well in inclement weather.

Mainly be used on passenger vehicles.

Thanks for the advices.

The snap on 3/8 cordless my boss has is the best ive used plus with little modification the 18v batteries can be slid on in place of the 14.4v making this short bodied impact quite a powerhouse

Even if you purchase a high end, light weight, cordless impact from Matco, Snap-On, or Hilti; those will be some incredibly difficult demands on the battery. Hilti does have one of the best battery warranties in the business though, it's what I use in some similar conditions.

I think the new Snap On with the mag nose cone is the best 3/8 I've seen yet. I have the infinuim 3/8 and it's a dog compared to the SO unit. Sad but true.

This will only be used maybe once a month for less than 2 hours but I just need it to be there when I need it.

Dewalt 18V XRP 1/4 Impact Driver with bits to convert over to sockets. No joke! I've taken lug nuts off with it!

I have this same one, was a kit with a hammer drill. The impact is light and the strongest cordless impact i have ever owned. And reasonably priced if you shop smart.

I like the fact that the snap on 18V was made in the USA. That seems to be a rarity these days with power tools. Are the Matco drills made in the USA?

Not sure, only can comment about what's more powerful on the 1/2 cordless impact. The Snap On gun has less amps and until recently came in only Ni-Cad. It's a nice gun but Matco definitely has a better gun for the same price.

I've got the craftsman c3 impact and it's not bad, but I wouldn't recommend it if you've got a bunch of rusty fasteners. It takes lugs off just fine, but I've run into problems on some rusty bolts like the one on my strut mount. I had to resort to a breaker bar there. If you've got the cash, the snap-on sounds like the way to go.

the matco 1/2'' infinium is very good. my favorite thing about it is the battery is the best i've seen from any power tool. charges in a reasonable amount of time with a long life. i can also say that the dewalt 18V xrp 1/4 impact driver was also impressive for its size. both of these are co-worker owned, but i hope that Christmas will change that. :)

My infinium hardly ever gets used by me. A co-worker took it to a Land Rover customer drive event for a backup tool in case someone pops a tire or something and once I used it when a tire came off a car our shop worked on (we never removed the wheels but we drove out and put it back on)
It's there when I need it though. I use it once in a while just to keep it fresh. It's awesome.

I absolutely love my Craftsman Pro 20v 1/2" drive cordless. I was disappointed it only came with one battery, but as of now, I haven't needed an extra battery.
