Hit an estate sale this morning. Not too much in the way of tools. On the second pass around I found the box with the base in it. Started immediately looking harder for the other piece. I found the 303 vise not far away. Both unused with all the paperwork in the boxes. $10 for both not too bad!

I just picked this up for $10. Seller said it works. It's missing the data plate, and I would like to know the specs on it. Anyone recognize it form the pics?

Maybe pop the cover off and see if there is any MFG or model No info on its PCBoard.

Well, I have been in the middle of a major shop over hall, so most things picked up on my estate/garage/etc. sales finds were still in my truck. But, with my wife out of town right now, I brought everything in. I am not too sure what came from where, so I will have to sort out the older stuff, but here is what I found in the last few days.
55108559310_c3aff4fb35_b.jpg
At an estate sale, I found the reloading scale, Snap-on offset and Yankee drivers, while at a Restore I found the perfect pieces of a Svea 123 backpacking stove, but no stove...

And then I hit an estate sale just outside my normal baliwick that I was going to pass on, but as there isn't much out there, I went. And, boy, I am glad I did!

So, from right to left, Grace gunsmithing drivers, P&C ratchet, Snap-on spinners (9/32" and 3/8") Snap-on impact, Stanley awl that has been converted to nail punch, bag of German/Austrian metric wrenches (+ driver and pliers), and two boxes. Now, you might be asking, what is in the two boxes. Well
55108429189_a1218dd979_b.jpg
a carbon brush repair and replace kit, and a new in box Millers Falls breast drill #12.

And, yes, I went back today for 1/2 off! So, more to come...

So, round two.

I am not sure where or when, exactly, I found this stuff, but
55108940258_b96c9b7f4c_b.jpg
Goodell Pratt breast drill (look at that decal!), practice hand grenade, Goodell Pratt push drill, brace bit, unmarked (but I think
Buck Bros.) label scraper, two batteries (which did NOT fit my M12), and a True Temper hand ax, rusty.

And here are the things I picked up on 1/2 price day
55108944048_a3c36b9de2_b.jpg
Snap-on test light, Armstrong lathe dog, Keystone adjustable, Hazet DOE (the one size missing from the bag I got yesterday), Williams hook spanner, Keystone ratchet, Stevens bearing scraper.

I wasn’t optimistic about the sales shown on Craigslist today. The first sale advertised as an estate sale ended up being a yard sale and the only tool was a giant pair of snap ring pliers so that one was a bust. We then headed to Berkeley for a 10:00 starting sale. I asked about prices on some large Craftsman combos and some 3/4” drive sockets. The tools were on tables in the parking area in front of the house. One seller asked the other seller to price the tools for me and that gentleman proceeded to tell me that the tools that I was interested in weren’t for sale. Possibly I could have been more polite when I asked why the tools were sitting on tables in front of his house if they weren’t for sale. I was invited to leave the sale but I chose to ignore the fact that I had been thrown out and proceeded to look through the tools, picking out a few rusty pieces. Since I hadn’t left he looked at my selections and gave me a price and off we went, amused that only in Berkeley would that have happened. IMG_6869.jpeg
The only other sale on our radar was in Belvedere in Marin County. I had little hopes for the sale. It was called an estate sale but no pictures were shown and few details. It turned out to be a gentleman selling off his father’s lifetime collection of tools. I kept finding things that I had never seen before and adding them to my bags. Here is the haul from that sale. I can hardly wait to fill up that really nice empty Thorsen box.IMG_6838.jpeg
Here is the first Tomahawk hex drive set I’ve ever seen!IMG_6839.jpegIMG_6840.jpeg
Some odd early Snap-on sockets. IMG_6843.jpeg
Crescent speeder and a couple of sockets. IMG_6851.jpeg
Little bicycle wrench?IMG_6884.jpeg
Husky locking pliers.IMG_6855.jpeg
North Bros and Stanley Yankee push drills loaded with bits along with a Stanley screwdriver and a Handyman square IMG_6848.jpeg

I‘ve reached the picture limit but will be posting more oddballs from this sale in the vintage forum.

Nicely done @d42jeep . I like that P&C stuff you West Coasters get to see often. BUT I really want to hear more about getting thrown out. I'm also glad you resisted leaving ,not letting them push you around, but I would have been pretty loud and obnoxious as I stormed out. I too would presume a table full of tools ,at a sale, would be for sale. Crazy world.

Part of yesterday's tool blitz was this really nice long C framing square. It is aluminum and has a great stamping/etch/fill contrast. Makes it easy to read. Also pictured is the dustpan, oil cans and the Craftsman vise.

For various reasons, haven't been to any sales since early December. Finally went to a couple this weekend. At the first one, I just missed out on a high-end Garrard Turntable with a vintage Marantz receiver. At the second one, I snagged this Dual 1268 turntable and a couple of power tools. Grand total $16.

Dang you guys are hitting it out of the park!

It turned out to be a gentleman selling off his father’s lifetime collection of tools. I kept finding things that I had never seen before and adding them to my bags.

I call that haul a YOU ****! Nice find on the cool old Snap-On impacts. That adjustable and tomahawk box are cool. Just found a Great Neck USA locking plier, looks an awful lot like your Husky,

100% USUCK!

Great haul @d42jeep that bike wrench is pretty cool first one I’ve seen like that!!

I agree! one mechanize for adjust for pipe or nut/bolt!

Since I hadn’t left he looked at my selections and gave me a price and off we went, amused that only in Berkeley would that have happened.

On the taking things that were out for sale and saying "not for sale" not that uncommon, but usually I'm told that they reserve the right to refuse a sale if I manage to get myself invited into a "closed" garage...

Things have been very slow around my way. I managed to get this Athol Machine co #80 with all original hardware and finish from market place for $35. Nice old vise

IMG_7053.jpegIMG_7054.jpeg

Eyeah, another USUCK on that one!

Had a day go from a bit slow, to really good on my last productive stop.

Started at the HS Flea. not a lot that wasn't stupid $$:

Utica, Harald and unmarked Pliers, - the plated are smooth jaw - Cold water faucet I may rebuild and add to one of my bigger pressurized wash stations for bulk water dispensing, and the candles.

The pipe flanges and fender washers were from a first YS.

B Utica Harald DBs brass cold valve BD candles Pipe flanges D washers.jpg

Also from the YS were these two rakes for cheap.

YA 2 Rakes.jpg

Then I hit an estate sale, and was poking through a tool box and a shelf loaded with wrenches. I had a small pile of mostly ignition wrenches and a few older US made, and the guy running it asked if I found anything good. I pointed to the small pile I had and he says he will sell everything on the shelf every single wrench for drum roll - $7! icon_eek.gif I asked if he had as box and he got me one; he also carried the box to the car! (I was using my walking stick yesterday)

in the upper left corner are the ones I was picking before the can't refuse deal. I'd been passing on a lot of "that's kinds cool but be selective. tools...

ES1 box.jpg

Here are the details, but I'll start with the two Starrett gauges (thread and Sheet Metal/Wire) the drill extension was on the shelf:

E9 Ext Starret.jpg

this will take 2 posts as I hit the pic posting limit of 10:

Adjustables: Auto wrenches are Williams and Crescent. Ridgid pipe and the smaller 8" is TBD as the marks are half missing

E1 adjsutables.jpg

Plated are Bonney, then and Armstrong and Bessemer (new to me)

e2 Bonney Armst Bessemer.jpg

10 pc. Craftsman Metric. I found a second 13 MM later

Other Craftsman:

SK in the middle and Williams up top

Mostly Indestro, 2 Lakeside and one Upland Forge:

Last weekend, Fri-Sun there was an Estate Sale in the neighborhood......it was just around the corner and down the block from me.
I saw the notices, announcements, and signs and had meant to run over.....
...it wasn't a priority for me, so it was late Saturday by the time I popped in for a looksy

It looked to me that all of the good stuff was gone (no tools) except for dozens upon dozens of really useful Sterilite storage bins
....and hundreds of dvd's
Many hundreds of dvd's

The dvd's were stored in Very nice and sturdy organizer holders that housed 20 dvd's or 36 cd's
I asked the ladies at the sale if they would sell just the dvd boxes.... Sure, they said
Don't you want dvd's? :ROFLMAO:

So I bought 125 Sterilite Storage Bins with lids, including 20 dvd boxes for 45 bucks

I used almost half of those bins, 50 or so, to REALLY organize my shop.
That ended up being a BIG WIN for me as I was able to reclaim a Bunch of Space!

A good Pal of mine has major Organization and Storage problems, so I brought the other 75 bins to his place.

Here's a few of the extra bins and dingy ones that didn't make the cut...
They were just not nice enough to go into my Newly organized Workshop :ROFLMAO:

sterilite.jpg
I got a knock on the front door from the neighbor who lives across the street from last weekend's Estate Sale
His wife and one of the sisters who had the sale are best friends...

He said, The rest of the bins that didn't sell are out on the driveway
Go get them before the Vultures do!
They're (Vultures and Hyenas) after the Free Stuff out on the curb :ROFLMAO:

I made a quick call to a buddy who said he will be home (no more football.....)
I said, the Doggies and I will be over in 45 minutes!
We jumped in the little truck and headed down the street

bins.jpg

I could have nested the bins better and made a tighter load.....

By the Eye Test, there was almost another truck load left in front of the garage
We got most of them

I missed pics of another one of the metrics; not a Craftsman, a Wagener out of West Germany, but unusual:

Odd red cap, right? it slides right off and its a factory mod of a DOE 11/10MM (Plating is continuous to the tip...). I'm thinking it was custom for a motorcycle maybe? This will go right into my road box.

That is a wrench/tire iron combo. BMW used Heyco, at least they did back when my old bike was made, but I would bet that it was for a dirt bike of some sort. A Maico, maybe?

I'm not thinking tire iron, as the tip has extremely sharp corners and edges, exactly like a really new screwdriver with zero wear.

Not the best pic but you get the idea:

Its also only 5" long so not a lot of leverage.

Find from the perimeter of @Outlawmws territory. Took the dogs out for a pack run across the bay, this was about 10 minutes south. As I was early, I stopped at a giant Ace hardware (size of an OSH or Parkrose), to kill a few minutes, and avoid any line. One garage workbench picture,

1771815102071.jpeg
had it been better, or more attentive, I might have seen the Paramo vise two guys were struggling to remove. They couldn’t reach the back rear bolt, it was up between two braces, and there were no ratchets for all the sockets. They handed me a 13/16" I said it was a bit big, so they gave me a 7/8". One guy had already bought two torque wrenches, and would not loan them to them. After a couple of minutes of them dicking around, I went and got my 3/4” socket, extension and 3/8” ratchet and took the bolt out for them. They were contemplating cutting the braces off the bench before I stepped in.

PXL_20260221_181739258-X2.jpg
With them out of the way, I went through the bench, and the boxes, and was about to go outside, and the one gent mentioned a box in the other corner, which was the real mother lode. As I was rifling thru that, he comes in from the back yard, and mentions another vise outside. Went there last, and a little cheap Asian thing. Guess he appreciated my help enough to pass it on.

While riffling thru the second box, I was trying to be a little judicious, as I didn't have a boatload of cash, and like Outlaw mentioned above, didn't want to grab stuff just because it was fun. The Craftsman box was kinda unique, skinny drawer on each side in the top row, than a double width one in the center. The other drawers were all full width. Not enough to make me want it all.

But on to the tools I did grab.. L - R ish
big shop vac dust brush, no need to step down to the 1-1/4" hose, Vessel hand impact driver, like I got in the late 70s, slight signs of usage, 8 in one rethreader file, probably the same pitch as one I have. Shur Grip screw on file handle, 1/4" rigging hook, bunch of snap on, include 1/4 & 3/8" finger speeders and an FD250 for Weatherhead fitting, couple of Williams socket and flexible handle, Bonney DOE, Proto 6" adjustable, magnetic screw starter, flat head screwdriver, angled pliers. Then some taps, Dunlap feeler gauges, Thorsen 15/16" deep socket, with a price sticker from the hardware store I started at, some chain links from the same store, bunch of Craftsman including newer big metric sockets, ignition wrench set, and some sockets. Bunch of 3/16" by 3/4" pop rivets, B&S 801 & 802 inside and outside calipers, geometric C Craftsman inside pair, Schrader valve stem tool, KAI and unmarked stubby screwdrivers, Armstrong pin spanner, New Britain swivel adapter and ignition pliers, 2x General calipers, my 3/4" socket and ratchet, from the vintage Bonney set that lives in the car, and a Makita 6mm 25,000 rpm die grinder.

PXL_20260222_230118118-X2.jpg

Not included in the class photo were two pots for MLW at $20, almost half the total bill

And BTW I'll be in Dallas TX rest of the week, lock up your tools. After that South Carolina bound for a few weeks, keep your tools locked there as well. I could be in trouble in SC as I'll have my truck ,and access to a rental cab over box truck.HeeHee

That sounds like trouble brewing...
