When I worked on the robotic turret weld cell for the Bradley back in the mid 80s, we used a big Miller welder and iirc a push-pull water-cooled Tweco torch - easily capable of 450 amps sustained, welding aluminum v groove seams 1/2" on a leg - 3phase 460V in Their engineers worked closely with us, on that and other projects; FMC (at the time) was a big user of Miller welders. Robust equipment and good engineering support, but for me personally not worth paying their premium new... your mileage and opinion may vary.

Fix yours if you like it and can fix it .

I have a lincoln power mig 216 with a random problem . Hard to diagnose and if board ( only board inside ) thats over $650 bucks and no sure fix .

Paid $1,700 new in box 10 years ago . Replacment these days for it over $4,500 bucks and all electronics and inverter tech over our old transformers .

Just my input and opinion . Good luck in your choice .

Thank you.

No one gets rich at Honda. At least not from the salary. We get tons of other benefits that offset the low salary though.
You're welcome.

Can't always look at just the dollar signs. Many times, you have to look at the entire package and some other bennies that people don't realize are within your reach.

Promotions are nice though....

They pay me to race their cars, and I get to do all sorts of neat things that we support.

Promotions are nice though....

This will be my first foray into management, which is what they've been cross-training me to do the past 8-10 years for.

One of the guys on my shift, his wife worked Honda (Marysville) in accounting, high enough on the rung to get a vehicle. He said if she went higher, her choice of vehicle would be an Acura.

She resigned when she had a baby, and later on, went back to work elsewhere. When Honda found out she was back working, they offered her job back. She went back but took a lower position due to the kids

That tells me a lot about Honda. I may never drive/own a Honda but I'll buy a generator any day of the week. I'll also applaud their support to Motorsports and Racing community.

I currently can get an Acura, but need the Ridgeline to tow my Civic hillclimb car. We get an allowance that increases the higher you go.

I like that story Eric. Some companies understand the benefit of competent employees and go the extra mile to support and keep them. Sadly many don’t so it makes me all warm n fuzzy inside when I hear about the good ones.

My Hobart Ironman is a Miller 252 without the digital readouts. Hobart is great value IMHO.

I have a PrimeWeld TIG welder that has been super, no issues at all. I would not hesitate to get anything from PrimeWeld.

Not to split hairs but that really isn't the case.
A 252 will run a 30A spool gun or an Alumipro push pull gun.
The Ironman will run a Spoolrunner spool gun.

Still a good machine and at a lower cost.

We did sell a welder... once.

EW171 generator/welder

If this was available in the early 90’s it might be the one that U-Haul was renting when I worked there. Those were stick weld only. It looks like it, though after all these years my memory is foggy. We used them ourselves to repair trucks and trailers out in the lot. Saved us from hooking up and dragging that stuff into the garage.
I build a rolling ramp to help load the darn things after bumping a few trunk openings trying to get it into the back of peoples cars. The ramp was a hit as I had to build a half dozen more to distribute to other rental centers. Nothing like dead lifting all those heavy equipment rentals into and out of vehicles by yourself. Solved by the ramps.

I ended up purchasing an entire welding setup from a guy going thru tough financial times. It's a Miller Multi 215 with what looks like 2-3 uses on it per him. It's in exceptional condition, and includes a tank w/ about 80% gas remaining.

Unfortunate for the seller, but good for you.
Those are surprisingly capable machines that most people overlook due to their diminutive size.
I'm sure it will do you well.

Cool for you, sad for him.
Did you get the 907693, the base MIG and stick package or the 951674 with the TIG contractor pack?

Just a word of caution, the Ironman 230 and 240 use two different spool guns. The spool gun for the 230 is harder to find, possibly out of production, and of course more expensive.

Without the price I'm unable to give you the appropriate suckage....

But somehow I think you likely deserve it.

Base MIG, and no on the TIG. I'll have to purchase that separately. He included various wire rolls as well.
If/when you want to set up for TIG PM me and I'll see how I can help you.

Edit, got dayyuuuum! no wonder Miller doesn't sell many of those 1141.00

Edit II, Torch, regulator, gas hose and Dinse connector are a slam dunk the biotch is that the Mmatic 215 uses a special amperage control, THAT'S what make the kit so salty.

Andy - congrats on the promotion!

When you enjoy what you do, every day is a play day and no longer work or just a job.

@NUTTSGT - That is so very true. When I was in school studying programming so I could change careers, an instructor warned us about getting into "golden handcuffs" - money so good it overshadowed everything else. Well, damned if I didn't get into that situation. It really took its toll on me. In hindsight, it worked out to my benefit in retirement but it was a horrible situation in real-time.

@larry4406 - After leaving the "golden handcuff" situation, I was fortunate to experience that enjoyment the last several years of my working career.

Very happy for @Metallitubby to be in such a supportive environment that fosters growth and personal development.

That’s what the guy told me when I called tech support. Nowhere in the documentation did it say what liner size was installed. So I called their 1-800 number (which is the same for Miller or Hobart). He said he didn’t know, but told me just to stay on the phone while he found out. He went on the shop floor to see what was being installed. On his way there he told me that it was a Miller 252 without the digital readouts. Maybe there are other minor differences, but that’s what the employee told me that works there.

:dunno:
