Yup I remember stumbling on it before. Came right up with this from a google on ”heyco retro”.Not NOS, current production. This was discussed here awhile back when KC Tool had them on sale. I guess Heyco is going with a retro look on these screwdrivers and kept the W-Germany stamping on the handles.

Dang, those new drivers are niceNew pocket Prybar and trim tools, US anniversary theme red white and blue screwdriver set and orange precision hex drivers.
Link? What is the power source?24" lighted grabber from amzn, and it worked
I’m tempted by these… I haven’t seen the snappy bro in a few weeks. Also a set of Nano drivers.
Finally found the metric universals on sale today, thanks for the heads up on them.Picked up a set of Tekton 3/4 drive 12 point metric sockets. First sockets I've gotten from them and can say they are nicely made. Interesting that they have ball detents in addition to pin hole. I've only seen that on an old Indestro socket, not something that Snap on, Proto, Westward, Wright and Gray does in 3/4 drive. The extension is Gearwrench and was surprisingly made in Taiwan. The rails are Tekton branded Ernst as Ernst doesn't sell them with the 3/4 drive clips.
I went with an Ares 72 tooth ratchet as I like a normal ratchet handle which is not common in 3/4 drive. Not the biggest fan of straight knurled handles or what Tekton did with finger grooves. I initially thought it would have the same head as the Tekton but it's actually more compact. 1.8" wide by 1" thick vs 2.2" by 1.5" thick. I put some oil in it as it was dry but it's pretty smooth. I know this isn't a ratchet that can handle a pipe but I'm not going to be doing that.
Also got some Mastercraft Maximum 1/4 metric universal sockets and Gearwrench 1/4 mid length metric sockets.

*Some* of the CAT wrenches are snap-on, but I believe the non-ratcheting full size combination wrenches shown are US made Williams and the full size ratcheting combination wrenches are Taiwanese Williams.
The CAT four-way angle wrenches (metric, 559-3896) I think are Snap-On, and the CAT flare nut wrenches (214-7335) as well, but only available in SAE sizing, no metric. I think the short combination wrenches as well (metric, 567-6839).
The chromie sockets are definitely Snap On, and I think the impact sockets as well.
Cat certainly doesn't make it easy to decipher what is what... Their website is absolutely terrible and the pdf catalog only marginally better.

The labeling lasts for a while in my experience.@Steel_Rain : How are those sockets labeled? Does it look like it will last in use?
I'd love to have socket sets I can read without a loupe!

Where’s the GW say made ? It came with more stuff didn’t it?Gearwrench 81030 and a cheap Bosch hex to 3/8 adapter that I'm going to grind the hex shaft length down to make an ultra-small 3/8 Flex head adapter for certain applications.
Not particularly impressed with 81030 however. The lever is difficult to move switch and the ratcheting action is coarse. I'm going to open it up and see if it has any lube in it as it acts like it does not.

Heyco supplied most of the tools that came in the trunk of all BMWs from the mid 70s to mid 90s. Thanks for sharing.
VW from the late '40s on, too. The "hubcap" kit for the Bug is highly desirable and priced accordingly. It fit the spare tire in the frunk like a hubcap.Heyco supplied most of the tools that came in the trunk of all BMWs from the mid 70s to mid 90s. Thanks for sharing.
Weren't those Hazet?VW from the late '40s on, too. The "hubcap" kit for the Bug is highly desirable and priced accordingly. It fit the spare tire in the frunk like a hubcap.
Those Napa/Wright/Matco rails are actually pretty dang nice for what they are. I like them more than the Ernst rails.
Ever since I grabbed one off the truck, I have used the living **** out of it. I want Vessel to make a stubby version now (stubby meaning the L bend being really short). The Vessel 2 way L bar came today. I can tell now that I'm going to use the **** out of this thing. If it performs as well as I think it will, I'll get another one to put away in case something happens to this one.
Edited to add- Already used it. House was hot when I got home this evening. Used this to pull the cover. A wire going to the common terminal of the capacitor was burned. Had a new capacitor in the shop, popped it in and fabbed up a new wire. Cleaned the coils and now we are back in buisness.
I know it's just a bent hunk of metal, but this little tool is pretty darn cool and now the house is cool too.

Made in Taiwan. First piece of GW I've purchased in years since Apex killed Armstrong. It will most likely be the last thing of theirs that I purchase for a while. If I cant get the action to smooth out after cleaning and re-lubing, I'll send it back.Where’s the GW say made ? It came with more stuff didn’t it?
Right you are! Hazet... Heyco... easy mistake.Weren't those Hazet?
Yea they are ! They’re low profile but stiff. Those Napa/Wright/Matco rails are actually pretty dang nice for what they are. I like them more than the Ernst rails.

Oh okay. Recently started buying GW stuff and actually been impressed. I’ve got ratchets, screwdrivers, picks, scrapers, extensions, sockets.Made in Taiwan. I picked these up because I needed a thin wrench this week. These are 3mm thick.
I initially picked up a Husky set at Home Depot but they seemed so cheap I returned them. They seemed like they were laser cut out of sheet steel and the sizes were laser etched.
At least these appear to be forged and should work for me for the 2 times a year I need a wrench like this.
Yes, absolutely love the critters. Cat is just standard domestic short hair. Tool is Snap-On RTB8.The camera loves your cat, but not the tool. What's the model number on that?
Mike
Power source is 3 lr44 batteries, light is down the center and has on off switch on push/plunger end worked a treat. 14$ from the jungle.Link? What is the power source?
They aren't marketed as stubby but obviously they are relatively short in the larger sizes. Those look VERY handy! Are they stubby, or standard length, or somewhere in between?
Any idea where they were made?
Mike

This is very strange. Germany was reunified in 1990. It is now 2026. So in 36 years the company is still stamping things "W. Germany"?!?!? East and West Germany are long long gone.
Perhaps west Germany does not want to be associated with eastern Germany even todayThis is very strange. Germany was reunified in 1990. It is now 2026. So in 36 years the company is still stamping things "W. Germany"?!?!? East and West Germany are long long gone.
Edit: Sorry ... did not notice this was discussed. There is an odd tendency in Germany (I worked there for a year around 2000) to keep using stuff without update. But that is extreme if this is new production. Almost like a joke level.
There is a little of that over the years in the parts of former West Germany. So maybe the owner(s) are making some sort of political statement? Politics there, like in the USA, are becoming more right/left polarized.Perhaps west Germany does not want to be associated with eastern Germany even today![]()
