Black and Decker U-21 1/2" drill

Would like to restore this old drill. Anyone done one of these? Is chuck threaded on? No screw visible in bottom of chuck. Also anyone have pics of disassembly instructions? Thanks for any help

all I can add is , if that's not a reversable drill there won't be a center screw in the chuck , and it will likely be threaded on .

What does it say on the chuck? I see xxxcraft. I have a Multicraft that is a 3/8-24 thread.


It was off when I got it, but I suspect the hex key in the chuck, and whack it, will knock it loose.

Finished restoring drill works great. Still cannot get chuck off to clean up. Tried Allen wrench in chuck and gave it a few good wacks..no movement. Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help with this

Well I guess it need a lot of wacks!! It finally came off. Thanks for the replies

You gotta use whacks, not wacks to get it loose. Takes a lot more wacks than whacks. Not sure if it's a 10x multiplier, maybe 5x.
