I have a feeling that George thinks he is a human being. Next he is going to acquire a taste for Irish, Scotch whiskey, Kentucky bourbon and Tennessee whiskey 😀!

My sister had an American Eskimo that had a species identity crisis! First of all she refused to eat any kind of dog food. She would stay by the dinner table begging for human food, completely ignoring her own dog food dish.

In addition to at least reasonable human food items such as meat of any kind including fish, some of the things she liked were just plain old crazy for a dog such as raw garlic, onions , leek, tomatoes, fruits. And of course any kind of sweets, chocolate and deserts. Best of all she had a taste for Glenfiddich !(you have to ask my crazy Scottish BIL how that happened) ;)

She past away at ripe old age of 15! RIP Chochi !

I must say, George is possibly the most unintrusive (is that a word) cat that’s ever chosen to live here.
He really is patient until we are at the kitchen table when I put out his two pouches of wet food on a plate, before I put it down on the floor. He will reach up and pat at my hand, talking and telling me to hurry up.

His Predecessors had sat on my head, washed my face, sang songs from the landing, and a variety of signals.

As usual great work and vision Rian, really looking forward to seeing the finished car. Always enjoyed your posts on what you get up to in your life.
Warren

Thank you Warren

oh my ! garlic, onions, leek all that family can easily kill a dog over time ! Chocolate, macadamia nuts, cooked bones are all "bad" as we all know.
Yet some dogs obviously don't read scientific journals at bedtime- maybe why Chochi lived to a ripe old age. Go figure !
Actually, I'm sitting here sipping some Whiskey and , typical of every few hours or so annually, a thought enters my head...
my money goes on the Glenfiddich . :)

People go mad if animals look at anything that’s been deemed unhealthy, dangerous, poisonous or harmful in a residential environment.

However, in a wild or abandoned setting, they will eat whatever will sustain their lives at that point.

I probably allow George 5ml of chocolate occasionally.

He would have a lot more if allowed.

Choices.

Masking all done on the boot/trunk lid, it was time to figure out what designs and colours to use.

I like contrast in both colours and textures.

So I created some stencils that have been seen already.

There’s a few recurring themes that you see in Lowrider art that I have always loved.

Fish scales, (I have now of course also created Dragon scales)
Sunrise fades
Never ending lines
Lace paint obviously
Geometric shapes repeating
Multiple colours

So that brings us to actual pattern and painting.

I started with a four colour panoramic sunrise. Usually they are done as a fan shape of the likes of large C-Pillars.

Masking up the other panels, I kept moving the masking around so that I could paint one panel at a time, without overspray on the rest of the car or panels.

Fish scales next.

Weirdly, they were a challenge too.

You will see the length of the stencil, which means holding it down in a way the paint lands where you want it, rather than blowing under or over.
Happy with that result, including the accentuating of the pinstripes around the panels.

My next one was possibly the hardest to choose and commit to. Halloween style spider webs. Also getting them to look the same meant a bit of searching for a duplicate.

Colour matching the lace on the roof.

So far, so good.

I will do a second part to this lot for the last piece, which I know was the most difficult and complex part of the job.

Back in a bit.

for the spider web or others a 3d printed pattern would allow matching without much work. Paint patterns are looking good.

Teddy Bear rims, perhaps on a chick car, definelty not on the Oldslowmobile
Agreed.

I think most appropriately a fiat, mini or other small unit. Plastered with bumper stickers and bits dangling from the rear view.

You must have prior experience with these pain techniques, as the results are spectacular and you definitely seem to know what you are doing!

Also, thank you for sharing all details, very educational and informative.
How?

Parents
Boarding School
Special Forces
Nursing
Salesman

Common sense and perception.

I think that covers it.

Not even got a computer

You're doing a bang up job Rian, lookin'Good!

Thanks.

Slow but steady progress.

Winter slows me down.

I’m headed out shortly for the weekend but I’m pretty excited to see the results on this 👍🏻😎

Have a good weekend.

Maybe nothing will happen 😉

Paint techniques and stencils.

Get creative they say

Its going to be fun they say

Of course it will.

So I thought I’d try some snake skin…….

You know, to go with the dragon scales and fish scales……

Finding a stencil was a bit of luck.

Testing it on my test panel with different paint types next.

Hmmmmmmmmm……

Looks good to me.

Random colour selection question.

Been playing with a few colours this morning

I have a preference, but I have been wrong before

Which colours, or combination of colours do you think would work somewhere on a panel on the bonnet/hood.

Sorry Rian, but this endeavor is way out of my wheel house. Wish I could be of more help.

Hmmmmmmmm

Gun to head??

Just choose what you like

Some of that hurts my eyes, but I can't look away.... :ROFLMAO:

Don’t look away 😳

Don’t keep quiet.

Share your pain.

Where does it hurt the least?

Plz do tell, how did this puppy end up in Grizz’s Orphanage? And how much did it set you back?

Ps
It seems to be in fair shape!

Remember John, my lodger from a few years ago?

Good friend.

He saw it advertised 35 miles away and thought he would bring it here.

If I can get it running, it will go back to him for his 12 year old daughter.

And no, not in good shape at all.

Much broken parts but a cute profile.

And those rear wheels and tyres/tires still have the moulding ******* on the tread.

Implying non use but certainly been thrown around.

I seem to have slipped up and somehow been distracted from part two of the rear painting and resulting outcomes.

Sorry.

The centre section of the trunk was masked out and if you remember, had HEXAGON written in sharpie across it.

So I masked up everything else and brought in the honeycomb stencil and modified it’s outcome slightly.
Mate Woodsie and Mickey were here as well, helping, supervising, interfering and ensuring that the outcome was as good as it could be.

The stencil was £12.00 on eBay from a seller I would prefer not to use again. It really needs to be bigger, covering the whole stencil, not just as seen.

I chose Violet paint for the hexagon because it contrasts strongly enough with the other colours in the mix.

Once the unmasked panels appeared, I was super pleased because it exceeded my expectations.

Result !!

not my cuppa but the symmetry is good!

100% get that.

In my defence….. looking at what I started with, this makes me happy, if frustrated.

That has come out really well, brilliant result Rian

Thank you mate.

I personally like small stories that are independent of each other, yet for a bigger story.

Last 4 days I have had “writers block”

With almost no progress or creativity.

Just off to the paint shop to spend another £100.00 on some gold paint.

I'm liking it, you be you.

It seems that sometimes bites me in the ****.

So the triple whammy.

Nothing insurmountable

But of course a ****** irritation when it holds much promise.

And the repair or recovery has actually absorbed four, that is four corrections and I am still not happt.

Remember the snake skin stencil?

Looked ****** lovely, except for the fact that the stencil was neither long nor pliable enough.

So the results sucked.

Then I tried to cover it with a nice aluminium spray…… looked worse.

Tried a complete departure from my initial setup and that self destructed, pulling paint away.

So I tried something else…….

Broad bands of blue and violet along the shoulder of the car, with intermittent diagonal stripes.

Three days later, I covered them over with a Porche bone/cream colour. But ran out of paint 80% into the job.

Which brings us to this morning…….

Went to the paint shop and picked up a fresh £1.20 can of paint and a liter of gold base coat.

Came back with the new, different can and managed to cover all of the previous coats with two coats of whatever this is.

In the meantime, the weather is not giving up on kicking me repeatedly where it hurts.

And of course I keep trying to forge ahead.

After the latest paint recovery, and four days of uninspired tyre kicking, I am kinda tired of trying, but I did manage to lay some new designs down this afternoon.

Pictures hopefully tell you that not everything is full steam ahead.

Quick question to those who are skilled at street fighting or playing dirty.

Do I even respond or reply to this guy??

From those pictures that's about $1999 too much for that. Not being a jerk, but it looks like it's in horrible shape.

I think you have better things to do than to engage with this person. YMMV

So after screwing up the flanks or shoulders repeatedly I just have an off white base waiting for a new design and some creativity.

It’s not yet happening.

So next stop has to be the hood/bonnet.

If you look at the shape of the front end, it is pointed, so I wanted to create something that incorporates that shape.

First stop…….

Finger art.

Research designs.

Keep the handbrake on for now.

Pics of my thoughts on design.

Obviously, opinions?
