I solved the moisture problem in my shop, I had 3 of. the Solar Panels on my house since 1984, took them down when we replaced the roof,
Well they were in the way so I built a rack and placed them at about a 45 degree slope on the south side of my shop, I think the blowers are like 1/15 hp. and move quite a bit of heated air any time the sun is out and in the summer I just turn the blowers off. Just something to think about.

My first garage was absolutely awful for humidity. It was this ****** falling down 1920’s one car garage with an even shittier lean-to added on the side. Everything rusted due to the building not being weathertight.

Bench looks great and I’m jealous you’ve been able to start on your garden

Thanks!

I wish it would warm up a bit so I can get some more stuff out. We seem to be stuck in an arctic trough that they are saying will stick around till the middle of the month.

Just finished reading this whole thing the past couple days, great work on the old schoolhouse looks awesome.

Thanks!

That's a pretty smart idea. I don't know if that would be enough here on our cold cloudy winter days, but it's something to think about.

This building actually holds the temperature pretty well for not being insulated. Which I think is part of the problem. It was cold for so long that everything inside got thoroughly cold. And when it jumped to almost 20 degrees C in a couple days nothing had time to warm up slowly.

Well the spring busy period is done so I'm finally getting a chance to work on some projects again. I actually got started on some work on the shop. Before I can get insulation in, I need to fix the window situation. I'm not sure if it's from the seasonal movement of the wood, the oil stain we use on the boards, or both, but the caulking around the windows is constantly cracking which in turn lets in water. I think about half of the windows are currently leaking, which is no good for many reasons. So I'm stripping each one back and almost fully removing the window so that I can properly run housewrap underneath them. Then I've decided to run metal flashing as a bridge between the wood siding and the windows. This should keep them sealed up.

An in progress pic as I was stripping back one of the windows.

Ooooops I did spell it wrong. Vulkem is the best stuff I have used. It smells really bad until it has cured. Not recommend for interior.

I'll have to look some more, but from a quick Google search Vulkem looks like one of those products we don't have up here north of the border. I can get some from the jungle store but they are almost $50 tube....

Sashco "Big Stretch"

I see a local hardware chain store has some of this in stock, I'll give them a closer look.

I originally started with Mulcro caulk and didn't like it. I have been using lepage quad max and it seems to work really good. That is everywhere except the windows on the shop.
