With these both on sale at Northerm, I'm ready to buy. Question is which size?
My detached garage is 30x40 with a 10' ceiling. I have a small 12' "tray" ceiling over the lift area.
Insulation is R13 in walls, R30 in ceiling. Garage doors are insulated, as are the 4 small windows.
Richmond Virginia area not as cold here as say NJ where I used to live.
Not looking to get it to t-shirt temp, but sweatshirt temp would be nice.
I'll be using propane.

I sent an email to Mr Heater and they actually called me back. He said if I my insulation is good, the 45k would suffice even through its rated for less square footage.
I'd like to hear what y'all have used in this situation.

thanks, Ron

Napkin math says the 45k should be fine for your area if you don't mind a sweatshirt on the coldest days. That obviously doesn't come from a full heat load calc or anything but still... 45k is enough.

Quickly?!? Holy ****, there's a ton of info required there, ...
Areas and R values are too much? You already have the R values, mostly, and the area is pretty quick. Maybe you glanced at the page and thought it too much. You don't need to fill in every box; just the ones for your place. You can also put all the windows into one cell, as for doors.

45 may be enough, but the time required to bring the building up to temp will be 2x as long and it will run almost continously. A 75 would be a better choice, remember when you open oh doors or want to only work for a short time, the high recovery is great.Unlike a real furnace a shorter run cycle will not hurt it either.

I was going to do the 45k originally, then the 75k went on sale for the same non-sale price as the 45k. Since I moved into a new garage with 50% more space, I haven't regretted it at all!

I have the 75 and I'm just about the same size as you.

28x36 but I'm only 8'3" ceiling, super insulated. I'm glad I have the 75. It heats it up quick when I want it to be toasty, and doesn't run excessively keeping it at 59* all winter (southeastern PA).

Geeze....getting the shaft here in Canada.

Reg price for a 45k $699, got it for $450 and thought I should wear a gun and a mask while buying.

You get a 75K for $349?????

We pay more just because....it *****!

I went to the plymouth one right before they closed on a friday night. Look for a young girl working the registers, my experience is they don;t know squat about BTUs, and the manager on duty wants to hurry up and close the store down, had her scan his manager approval card without even looking at the add :)
