I've got an older 1/2" breaker bar that is missing the detent ball. Will they replace the tool or will they repair it?

Will not replace the whole breaker bar, replace the piece which the ball is missing.Had this done to one I bought on Ebay.If it has the screw,do not lose it for a reason. The screw is obsolete and no longer made.

I plan to mail it since my local guy is a douche. I'd like to keep it since it was my dad's. But on the other hand he'd want me to have tools to work with.

I've exchanged several pieces recently. Call the customer service number on the website. Depending on the item, sometimes they don't even bother having you send the old ones back. If that's the case, then you have the best of both worlds... you get a new tool to use and get to keep Dad's old one around too.

If you get the part number of your breaker bar I can check with my dealer tomorrow (monday) and see if he has a kit.

If it is badly worn, will replace it.Had this with a 1/4 ratchet, put in so many kits in it to point it was worn out.Was handed a new ratchet on the spot.

The older breaker bars used a pin to hold the square drive onto the handle. The newer ones use a screw. If the bar has sentimental value, a dealer should be able to drive the pin out and reuse it with a new square drive piece. If you send it in, you will get a new breaker bar.

The Snap On breaker from 1959 I had was secured by a screw which I was told was obsolete and and I had put loctite on the threads.Don't have it anymore,my brother broke it.

I repaired one a few weeks ago. I called Snap-on 800 number... scanned the breaker bar head and handle (part number). Sent the scanned pics to Snap-on, and they send out a new head in less then a week.

I pressed out the pin... using a shop press (overkill but any reason to use it is good enough for me). Installed the new head and pressed the pin back in. Works great now! Replacement parts were shipped to me free of charge.

that pin has caused much greif for me in the past. I needed a press on a few of them. they were so tight that sparks would fly from hitting it so hard with a 40oz dead blow ball peen.
some came right out though......
Im glad we have the screw in style now. much more dealer friendly

Yep... i like the screw in style too... I never had much luck hitting the pins either. It seems hitting them causes the tolerances to open up, but using a press has worked every time. Since using a press I have not had any problems.
