You overpaid by about $5 for that SK set

That Kennedy is gorgeous. I don't usually see them in red.
😃 Thanks! That SK-W set is so cool. It even has the plastic wrap still under the tray. That’s what attracted me to the Kennedy. Condition. It’s about flawless…Here it is in contrast to my 520 G … Huge difference! IMG_6039.jpeg

Happy Father’s day all. Had a great day hunting at two flea markets.

First buy of the day, $7 for all in the picture. Lots of nice oldies from a carry box of misc.. Looks like perhaps someone’s war era collection: Snap-On, Williams, Duro-Chrome, Plomb, Wright, Hinsdale. Plus a brass key, a nice modern USA Craftsman 1-1/2” x 1/2” drive, and rotating Tru-Fit extension by Milwaukee Tool & Forge.

Good SciFi books, @WisJim !
I remember reading both Zelazny’s Amber series and several other of his novels, McCaffrey’s Pern series, and Niven’s Ringworld series. Have not read original PKD, but of course, love the film adaptations.

Yes, interesting. My first guess, with no evidence, is British Petroleum Company Service Division.
Ahhh! I believe they're Bendix Products (Stromberg) tools. An example of 3/8 driver from an old eBay listing. Similar #. Stromberg branded sockets also have T- prefix.

Edit: your ratchet is in the bottom left. Circa 1939!

Overslept, woke up, dozed off again, decided to wing it and pick a flea market that would be open in the afternoon. Things were winding down without a lot of standouts.
Decided to treat myself to an ordinary pair of well loved slip joint pliers that set me back a dollar.

There's always a catch, right? These are actually vacuum grips! Snap-on No. 47 with a hefty glob of goop and a little rust.
IMG_20260621_194624905_HDR~2.jpg

Flea market wrapped up, on to a nearby estate sale, with a loaded garage.
It was a trick. Place was a ghost town despite being open per the posted schedule. Oh well.

Trying again, let's see if the fancy Goodwill by the golf course has anything. There I discover in all its battered glory...an old socket case, very scantly branded.

You know these. Home to unbranded import items, right? Probably not even worth opening.

IMG_20260621_195000685_HDR~2.jpg
But wait, there's an SK ratchet hiding where you'd least expect it! And two Craftsman 3/8 sockets in the batch. That's enough for me to agree to the $3.99 asking price.

IMG_20260621_195148867_HDR~2.jpg
This shiny red toolbox was far away from the rest. another notable difference is it had some weight to it.
IMG_20260621_195234336_HDR~2.jpg
Screwdrivers! Plus a stapler and breaker bar. The price tag says they're included. Sure, why not. You can always find something for a screwdriver to do. The familiar scent of acetate handles sends me back in time. In for another twelve bucks.

My favorite items from the box. That monster Husky is the clear winner. A 5mm socket is fine too. I don't know what is going on with the Stanley, I think it falls into the stubbyn't category.

Abandoned on a curb I found a case, instantly recognizable even at a distance. I couldn't possibly ignore it. You know what time it is.

My grandmother thought electric sewing machines were blasphemous, but I can't wait to give this a little touch up and hear it sing. They were kind enough to pack in the power cable and it does power on!
IMG_20260621_204226783_HDR~2.jpg

Haven't sewn in decades but I think we'll be fast friends when I get into the groove. This is a serious power tool.

Happy father's day everybody.

Flea part 3:
This was another flea market miracle. I saw a big plastic carry
box on the floor at a booth. Massive junk load. Nice looking, well dressed lady next booth over. I ask if the booth and tools are hers. She called her husband over and I started pulling out broken saws and lug wrenches, etc... The bottom had odds and ends of hardware and maybe 20 sockets.

A long skinny grease covered socket got my attention. Snap-On 9/32” drive deep! Then I found another. Went through every item and found 5 Snap-On from the 20’s and 30’s. Guy tells me there are more tools out back of the booth that got rained on. It was few junk tools, and wet packs of hardware. I took a gooooood looong look just to be sure no more sockets. There was the the 3/8” to 9/32” adapter in the dirt and gravel! Couldn’t believe it.

He tells me the whole pile is $5. :bounce:
- Barlow (Australia) winch handle for a boat
-Sacca (France) 32 x 36 doe
-Lufkin 8 ft ruler in nice shape
-Sockets: Heyco (W. Germany) x 2, Duro-Chrome, Billings, Thorsen x 2
-Snap On 20’s and 30’s sockets: early 9/32 dr, 1928 3/8 drive flex, 1929 3/8 x 9/32 adapter, early 3/8” dr. 7/16 (no date or part #), pair of 1931 special deepwells.

I dream of finds like that. After digging through thousands of sockets, sometimes things turn up where you least expect.

I’ll post closeups in the Snap-On thread.

Now for the Heyco. Apparently all sockets say 50-12.
That’ll really screw with your head.77DA243B-BCA2-4EDD-A9B0-2B89016C951E.jpeg

Our luck hasn’t been too good recently. On Friday we headed to several Nevada sales as it was time to fill the car with slightly less expensive gas. Most of the sales were busts but we picked up a few things. A slide hammer for driving metal fence posts.IMG_8857.jpeg
10 lbs of my favorite 3” deck screws which are no longer available. IMG_8855.jpegIMG_8856.jpeg
An old DeWalt drill with a working battery. IMG_8859.jpeg
IMG_8860.jpeg
On Saturday we drove to a few local sales with even less results. The only item we brought home was a free tack puller from a TOO. The seller promised to dig out more tools for today. IMG_8853.jpegIMG_8852.jpeg
I didn’t have high hopes but we stopped by and she had dug up a few items including a Proto keychain screwdriver. Unfortunately, it was missing when we arrived home. I may return to the location tomorrow to see if it turns up. At least it was Proto and not Plomb. IMG_8862.jpeg

Wow... I needed one of those a few months ago and had to pay fifty bucks for a new one at Home Depot. 😖

I’m not sure what possessed me to buy this tiny “Diamaloy” adjustable but here it is.

I carry a 4" Crescent in my left front pocket all the time. A small round magnet and a pair of nail clippers on that magnet, as all three get used regularly. (magnet for "is that iron/steel, or badly tarnished brass, or plated to fake it? testing.")

Barlow (Australia) winch handle for a boat
I was going to say that that handle made your day--then I looked up new prices for Barlow Winch handles. $15-30--I had no idea there was any accessory for a sailboat the came that cheaply!

I recall winch handles being in the $70-125 range--in seventies dollars.

I drove over to Earthwise earlier today to pick up an item they transferred down from another one of their locations:

Huot 5-drawer number drill merchandiser 062226 01.jpg
Huot 5-drawer number-size twist drill merchandiser. 14½" L x 7½" W x 8" H

Perfect condition other than the obligatory stickers. I'll have to get the "Goo-Off" out.
There were still a mess of tiny drill bits inside the thing. 71 of them in all. Tiny little things. Go figure.

At the price, I just couldn’t leave the slide hammer behind. It seems exceptionally heavy which will probably make it more effective.
I have a weakness for four inch adjustable wrenches as well.IMG_8758.jpeg

Did you just find and buy all them!!??😳
