Im sensing this trend where folks just dont agree with modern pricing of vehicles and opting to maintain great older vehicles.
Dont feel too bad about the tune, I did something similar with the Firebird. I had several "tuners" look at it before i finally did it right. Completely worth it too

I just can't wrap my head around paying $30k+ for a 10 year old vehicle
I'm looking forward to putting some travel miles on the Z28, I'm guessing the improved tune will eek out some better mileage on the long stretches...might even be hybrid worthy

I am solidly in that camp. While much of it has to do with the pricing of "modern vehicles", much more of my decision to keep and maintain what I have is solely because of low quality of what is on the market these days. I'm not impressed and will keep my old **** running as long as I can. Not to mention, I know them and if I purchase something else, there's too many unknowns and people just are not keeping things properly maintained these days. I went and looked at one with a coworker about a month ago that was listed as "meticulously maintained and cared for". However, what I think this gentleman considered meticulously maintained was just keeping it washed and cleaned. While it was excellently cared for in terms of cleanliness, when I started inquiring about 60k, 90k and 100k mile service work, he had a blank stair. He said there was nothing wrong with it so no need to take it in and it was good for 100k before any work was to be done. Well, it had 122k on it and still nothing done. I wouldn't consider that "meticulously maintained".

Well, Phase 3 has officially started on the Tundra. Lots of parts ordered, more to order, some received.
Last night I hit reset on the pickup, removed the red pinstripes and TRD vinyls. The clean slate looks pretty good.
After seeing the pickup down to its basics, I think the Ivan Stewart livery treatment will stay on just the hood. Front bumper with grille/headlight protection is in the works. I also fell in love with the wheels again, and unless the FN Overlander Spec B wheels becomes available in bronze again, I'm probably just going to roll with these.

I like the clean slate Marc, but then again, I like the debadged look overall. Very clean and tidy looking.

Those old Tundras are lengendary. There is at least one (but maybe more?) that have it 1mil+ miles and still going. Our 3rd gen 4runner has 375k on the clock and keeps going.

One of the many reasons I decided to keep instead of moving to an early 2nd gen Tundra (2008-2013). The 2UZ 4.7l V8 is one of the best engines I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I actually bought this pickup in Longmont, CO(Western Nebraska native here). I'd love to have a 3rd Gen 4Runner, one of the best looking SUVs ever made. Appreciate the condolences.

We were talking to a former coworker about his son and his truck which has a 9 inch difference between front and rear, the wheel lights and all that ****. My buddy saw it pulled over and we were talking about how the squatted trucks are stupid. He said the more we talk about it the more his son likes the look. I suggested we talk about how cool it was and if he thought the old guys were into it, that it wouldnt be cool anymore like we did when our parents liked something of ours.Ewww...just stop

See this is what really impresses me when it comes to vehicles. Anyone can go and buy a shiny new one, but it takes real effort and dedication to keep an older vehicle looking this good. Well done!

Busy weekend, FedEx flaked with the plate for my Tundra front bumper, so after spending a whole 20min removing the factory stuff, I switched gears to wiring, fabing mounts for the relay box, and trimming the plastic inner fender wells.
Have a ton of parts, lights, and stuff to finish the wiring this week. Need to get some epoxy primer for the bumper and some clear picked up to fix the roof.
I've got all of the vinyl laid down(some of you have already seen the results), but may wait for a "final reveal" when it's all done.
In other news, the mount I ordered to install a ScanGauge2 in the Suburban arrived, that was a quick install and I'm pleased with the results.
Hooked the brush cutter up to the tractor and mowed both sides of our 2mi rock road today, also recovered a couple of giant rocks for in front of the wife's she shed. I'm talking 800lbs+ on one of them...tractor grunted a little.
Hoping a 4-day weekend coming up will allow me to knock out the new front bumper, lights, and wiring. Need to get stuff ordered for the rear bumper and get it scheduled to swap springs and realign.

Well this summer has been busy. Lots of yardwork due to the 20"+ of rain we've had over the last 45 days. Ended up having to do some serious driveway repairs after one rain that hit us with 5" over 24hrs. Finally broke down and bought a 6' 3pt box blade/scraper.
Tundra is all done less getting the top re-cleared. I have everything to do it, just need the time to get it wet sanded and sprayed. The decals, bumper, and 1 size up springs hit the mark. It's due for tires going into winter, think I'm going to try the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 since they quit making my beloved Yokohama G015s. Ended up doing new LCAs and as of last weekend it got a new improved design tailgate handle that I painted to match.

Thanks Adam, there are some days I wish we didn't have sooo much grass! It sure looks nice when it's had plenty of rain and is freshly mowed/trimmed. End of July/Eary August it starts looking pretty tough normally.
Thanks man, not bad for the rolling hills of Northeast KS! We never had guidance on any of our tractors, and with a picky dad, I had to learn early how to drive straight and make a quick unnoticeable correction. I take that back, haha, we ran a single-rib front tire on the 4430 when we cultivated/ditched...as long as the guy planting did his job, you normally didn't have to touch the wheel in the 1/2mi long rows

1/2 mile rows....those are real? Get bored without having to turn every couple hundred yards around a terrace or waterway or something. We've got a couple spots we can do that....but as it exists now with GPS guidance on everything that skill has definitely diminished!

Thanks Cody! Tire decision has been tough, I need a good blend of quiet and 3peak rated. I'd love to have something with white letters, but quiet is more important.
