I went to HF today to get some latex gloves and walking around the store I now see Evaporust is now $29.99. WTF? 50% price increase from $19.99.:shocking: I actually was going to put two gallons of it on my christmas list but now no way. Time to find something else that's a bit cheaper. Maybe I'll go back to vinegar even though it ***** compared to Evaporust.

No more Evaporust for me unless it is on clearance.:(

It was too expensive for me at the OLD price. White vinegar is cheap by the gallon.

I use the apple cider version-I paid $1.50/gallon on sale at menards last summer! Works better/faster than the white version. Just strain out the big chunks of rust thru a filter and it still takes a lickin & keeps ticking!!!:bounce:

HF is jacking up prices all over the store to make larger FAKE discounts on sale items and accommodate the 20% and 25% off coupons on items that are not normally discounted.

Its actually Good Business, Most Retail stores do the same thing. They will have some crazy sales to get you in the store and then drop the hammer on you financially and your none the wiser.

Harbor Freight's own prices went up almost 20% over the past year as China's currency has appreciated. That being said, I also agree they are going for the "discount heavily" model. This is what Pizza Hut turned to in the 90's. Well, they are practically a no-name brand these days, so it didn't really work so well over time.

I get good results within four hours with the apple cider vs the white stuff. Both are acidic, just seems to attack the rust better-doesn't look the greatest in the container! The first picture is the ACV in a 2.5 gallon container that was just strained-it had at least a lb. of gunk in the bottom from wrenches, skts etc.. It forms a light crust on the top when not used for a while. The yellowish container is the white and its in a 7.5 gallon bucket (Bird seed bucket) and is used for vise parts and long tools (Breakers etc.) can be left in for long times for the bulky items. I use bent wires to hold the items in bucket to retrieve and gloves in the ACV container. You need to keep both covered for the smell and evaporation purposes. Also the less grease and caked on dirt etc., the faster it works.:bounce:

I've used both and noticed the vinegar bath causes more rust if not completely immersed. Not so with ER.

HF is probably ticked at GJ members sharing so many free coupons.. :spit:

guys you might want to try tntrustremover.com only $ 20 a gallon plus they have jell, as well of a anti rust you put on to keep the rust from returning. They will be fair with shipping. I think a 5 is seventy five dollars.

HF's prices have been going up for various reasons, and name brand products at HF have never been that attractively priced.

If it concerns you that you have some flash rust after cleaning-just make a batch of baking soda & water in a container & immerse in there for a few minutes after cleaning & rinsing. It stops the acid effect & wipe dry!
