Thanks guys.

Great garage and epic '69 transformation (i followed your build on Lat-G)

Lmk if you are coming up to Cars & Coffee. You can park that in my garage or I will make sure you can park with the (other) exotics.

That would be awesome. PM sent.

Yes, the garage is inspirational and the car is totally sweet. Great job on both. Definitely makes me want to get myself back on track with my own personal goals.

So XcYZ, I'm going to deviate from the massive praise everybody has been giving you. I mean how can I when there are clearly major issues. Just look at that "supposedly nice" TV there. You can clearly see the wiring. I mean eeewwwwww, just gross. ;)

Seriously though, stunning garage. I've had similar shelving like in your pre-makeover photos and just ripped them out as part of my makeover. I'm going to have to steal this idea, and then make a few modifications to match my specific needs and budget.

Just curious, what did you do to anchor the shelves to the wall and ceiling? Did you use some sort of steel bracketing to anchor it or did you just throw some screws through?

Last but not least, thanks for the masking tip for how to create clean straight lines with masking tape. Very clever.

Beautiful job.

It is surgical in it's cleanliness. Wow

That looks staged... I want to see a welder arc on steel or some grinding wheel sparks, until then I call BS.

I love how clean/neat everything is.... it's a mildly OCD guy's dream ;)

I don't know, it is way too clean for me. It looks like he parked his car in the kitchen.

I need to see working tools, grease, old **** to use in new projects, big machine tools, a welder...

something like these (without the toy car)

What does grease and old **** have to do with actually working in my garage? And, since you made a point of it, I sold my old **** to help pay for new parts in the build. As if I'm going to keep 40 year old suspension and driveline parts laying around only to collect dust. LOL

Yes, I keep it clean while I'm working.

Are those (gasp!) drums I see on the rear?! haha

From one Camaro guy to another, love the car and the garage. I can tell you have the same taste as I do, just more budget!

I'm finishing my garage now and I'll definitely be building overhead shelving like yours, that's great. Now to figure out a 2-tone for my walls... haha

+1 on the soffit design = 184, I believe is the running total of acknowledgements of your storage solution. This is an exceptional garage and absolutely stunning car. I'm way too much of a pack rat to ever believe that I could have such a clean look like yours or Jack Olsen's garage. But both have inspired me very much THANKS !

Those pathetic brakes are long gone. :D They've been upgraded a bit.

I actually have significantly more storage space now than I ever had before, and now it's all enclosed. The drawback is that I can't (or I should say I won't) store really large stuff, like say a hood, a motor, etc. I have that type stuff stored in my attached garage with the daily drivers.

Wow That is impressive, I think the thought behind this garage alone was awsome but the concept to reality is very impressive, And that comment is coming from a guy who owns a garage organizing buissness, www.prostoragesystems.com, Did you use Muscle gloss for your floor finish? Also if you were to add anything might I suggest mega wall, the clear on steel swril finsih would look awsome in there.

Yep, SPEED is always on in the shop. Most of the time the TV is on but the sound off and I have music playing. lol

Yep, I'm running C6Z calipers and rotors. The wheels are 18" and they just clear.

well Scott, I was sooooooooo inspired, I tore my old garage down and I am in the process of building a 24X24 with a 9'6" ceiling. I hope you do not mind but I am copying your storage idea. Have no worries I do credit you when I talk to people about the plans and the "overhead storage". I say "there is a guy on The Garage Journal with a killer Camaro and a killer garage user name XcZY"

My electrician said, are you sure you want all these lights,...... yes sir (my nephew)

I am soooooooo excited to see it coming along. With the sweat and blood from me and a very good neighbor who is always here to help (Brian), it is coming along. I don't want to start a thread until it is built completely but you will be mentioned for sure again.

so hats off for the ultimate insiration I have had in my life (44 years), thank you very much

PS my new 40 flat screen TV is bigger than the house TV, and sits in a box in the livingroom until the garage is done LOL

One thing I am adding is my center overhead storage sliding door, I am going to paint with chalkboard paint. I use a chalkboard to keep track of the oil changes in the vehicles. Also I wrote down the oil pan plug wrench size, the date, mileage, and how much oil with filter, it works great.

Just one question. What kind of cleaners do you use in your garage? Because I constantly:

“Look at my garage!”

“Then I look at yours!”

“And then back at mine!”

“Now back to yours!”

Sadly, mine isn’t yours.

But if I stopped using lady scented cleaning supplies, and switched to your cleaner, it could smell like yours!

Thanks.

I had the base and wall cabinets made by Dakota Kitchen. To keep the cost to a minimum, I had them all made the same size and I picked them up at the factory.

The filler plate behind the backsplash is just a 1x4 that I had ripped to size and painted black. I use that space that's above the 1 course of block and behind the base cabinets for storing all my big pieces of steel, pipe, etc. What would have been a waste of space actually turned out to be a good thing.

Yep, that's a metal sign that Source Interlink gave me when my car made the cover of Camaro Performers last winter.

The framed prints that I have sitting in some of the pics are also of my car, but they are 3D renderings that a friend did on his computer. I just haven't hung any of those yet.

great work...
I have a 2005 5.3 tahoe motor going into my GN,with a big turbo,,i really like the serpentine setup you have ,where can i get a setup like that..thx Dennis

Thanks Dennis. Sounds like a great project. The front accessory drive that I have is made by a company that isn't around anymore. I had chose them as they had a front drive setup for an LS7 with A/C delete.

I would recommend looking at what Wegner offers. I have a few friends running it and I think it's a great setup. Here's the link to their front drives.

Man, what a beautiful shop and camaro. Thanks for the detailed information on the construction of both of them. Who makes that low profile creeper in your pictures?

Thanks!

It's from Griot's Garage, but I'm not sure if they make it anymore.
This was their sales pitch on it:

The Cadillac of Creepers VII. Made of T6 aircraft aluminum tubing, it is super light-weight (it only weighs 10 pounds) and easy to handle. Like our last one, it's comfortable enough to fall asleep on, yet long enough so that the front doesn't jump off the ground when you get up. Four strategically placed casters eliminate the need for more, and with the cast aluminum wheel housing offset by 30 degrees, they'll roll over everything. The lower "bed" is a mere 2 1/2" off the floor. The headrest adjusts for total comfort and proper head angle for any project. Our latest and best creeper to date.

It's basically a slimmed down and less expensive version of the Kreepster.
