Torin roll cart @ Costco

So I'm strolling down the aisle @ Costco yesterday and found a pretty cool little Torin roll cart. It's s split / slide top (maybe 8" deep), 2 locking drawers under that, and a bottom shelf. It's kind of weird though - almost like a 'mini' roll cart. $74. I tried to find it on the Torin or Costco site and it's not on there.

I figure it holds about 60%-70% of what a normal size cart might, but it would be good if you had limited room (it's not as deep as a normal cart) like on the side of a garage, or wanted to set up a few of them for different projects. I'm thinking about picking up a couple for my kart garage - set one up just for engine stuff and the other for chassis tools.

I have been using a small aluminum cart over the past couple weeks roughing in a floor of a hospital extension. Since the floor is so large, i cant spread boxes, receptacles, switches without having them kicked around by the other trades so having everything on the cart, including drawings is really handy and efficient

I have that Northern Tools cart shown above. It is a little flimsy but I use it to hold my oil change/tire rotation gear and it works well for that. Don't know if I would depend on the lock at a shop or use it as a pro though. You only need to slide the left side of the top to get the drawers to open and there is not a "lock release" that will let you keep the top shut and open the drawers.

I bought one of these from Costco as a mobile toolbox at the track for motorcycle racing. It's the off-season so I haven't used it outside the garage, but I love the sliding top for the little bit I've used it for so far.

Kartracer, you are right it does have chrome handles on each side. I found one in the local Costco yesterday. Not a bad cart for the money. I did see where it was rated at 220 pound capacity. The price was $69.99 out the door. Nice that we don't have a sales tax here.

I saw the red Torin cart a couple of days ago. It was strapped down tight and I couldn't a get good touch and feel feeling about it. I think I would like one. $75 looks like a good price.

The black and red ones at HF are $129 and $149 over the next week or so. Black this weekend, and red the next weekend. (with super coupons, so no 20% stacking)

What to do? What to do?

My biggest problem is that flat spaces soon become semi-permanent storage!

Yeah...I'm torn (or Torin!) as well. I was planning on getting the red HF on BF, but then I saw these & figured I can get two for the same price (even though they're smaller). Trying to figure out if how I would use them works best with one big one or two small ones.

Also I figure that HF on BF is a nightmare. Every time I go in that place it's wall-to-wall people anyway. 10 years ago, you could spend all day in a HF and not see another person.

I got one of those (in black) from Northern a while back, it's held up pretty well IMO. I wouldn't say that I abuse it, but I'm certainly not gentle with it, by any means.

Weight rating is off a bit, I'm 180-190 and I lounge on mine when there's no work to do. Removed the drawer interlock that only lets you open one drawer at a time, that got annoying very quickly. The sliding top is awesome in comparison to the hinged top carts, gives you that much extra working area without relying on an add-on side shelf.

Overall for the ~$120, I'd say it's more than worth it, and has stood up in a professional environment with daily use for close to a year now. Just wish I had gotten the slightly bigger one, not the small one they had.

Off topic but do u race karts at NCMP? i used to race Gold Cup, Man Cup, GLSS and MWSS there it is an amazing facility one of the best in the country

I have one that I keep at school. The 2 drawers are pretty good. Fairly deep and I have them weighed down quite a bit, and they function well. But be careful not to overfill them too much this thing is a little tipsy. The 2 top sliders on the other hand kind of ****. It's a good storage space down in there, but these leafs are flimsy. I always want to put my impact down on one leaf while it is open and it feels like it's about to break it off. I had to transport this thing twice in my Explorer. In order to do this I laid it down on it's back. Since then all of the ball bearings have been spilling out of the top slides, and now these slides move with a lot of slop.

For $75 you won't find a better one, new anyway. I think I paid $30 for mine used. Not sure, but the HF box may be a better choice.

Yeah, I've had a garage there for the last 4 years, and it's about a 6 minute drive from my house. I just club race, so no WKA or the SS's for me, but I've probably marked your tires in tech-I normally try to help out when other series run there. If you're from WI, I'll bet you know Mr. Koyen.
