Liftmaster 98022 or chamberlain RJO101?

Have Liftmaster 8500W on a 9 x 8 OHD and thinking of putting an opener on the 12 x 12 door. 8500W has worked fine - have read of some early issues but this was installed about 2020 and I think the issues were resolved before that. Chamberlain is about $200 cheaper and looks to almost identical and from what I have read the guts are the same (from the internet so it might not be true but seems likely). Might move the 8500W to the large door because the newer units don't include physical cable tension monitor and the small door is high lift which greatly reduces the chance of loosing cable tension. Both the new units are Security+2.0 which will work with older remotes and also some DIY home automation links so do difference there. The automation link should allow slight opening for ventilation. Anyone know how similar these are or any reason to pay the additional for the Liftmaster?

Looks like internals and warranty are the same. Only the accessories are different. 1 button vs 3 button remote and more complex wall button unit.

I can't comment on the difference between the two since I have never owned a Liftmaster, but I bought a Chamberlain wall mount opener about 5 years ago and it has been great, no issues so far. I have it installed on a 16x8 door with about 22" of high lift. I bought it at Costco, and it came with an additional remote. Not sure if you are a member or if they still sell them but worth checking.

Just checked. Nothing at Sams or Costco. Best deal is Lowes or Menards. Standard price is about the same as Amazon but 10% vet discount at Lowes or 11% sale at Menards.

I have both of those makes (not expect models you cite) and they are both great. You should be fine with either.

I just bought 3 of the 101 models at Menards.
I think it was on sale for $450 ish (could be wrong on the exact price) but then the 11% back made it a no brainer

Ditto. I have two 8500W's and one RJ0101; they have all been flawless.
