TIP Model 99 Sandblaster Manual or Instructions?

I recently purchased a model 99TIP sandblasting pot. I’m trying to find a manual or instructions. The main things I need to know as I’ve never used one of these before is what is the top plug on a T handle for? Once pressurized is it supposed to seat in the hole and it will stay? Where to buy the appropriate sized nozzles? Or how to determine the size nozzle that I have? Which measurements do you need to pick a nozzle?

Found that but no instructions that I could find. And it doesn't have a cross reference for parts. I have one broken nozzle but I don't know which dimensions I need to cross reference it to another brand of nozzle?

Again, I've never used one and may be making it more complicated than needed but at this time, I just don't know.

Nozzle size is usually based off of compressor CFM, the larger the nozzle the more CFM you need to move the media. You may have to replace the blast nozzle assembly so you can easily find nozzles. For operation you load the media in the top obviously and when you apply pressure to the unit you just pull the plunger up to seal the pot and let it build pressure.

Send Brut an email and see if they actually did buy the TiP blaster and if any of their parts will interchange with your unit.

Those are very typical sandblasters a lot of manufacturers make identical ones. Amazon should have tips if local places don't or you could easily change the nozzle to someone else's.

I have that blaster ~ 1989 purchase.

Yours is missing the nozzle gun at end; should be hand operated with a deadman not a bypass straight to the nozzle (danger Will Robinson).

Yes the Brut tips fit perfect.

The top of the unit is a bowl. Use a sift screen and add aggregate and fill the unit via the hole. The bowl aids filling. Sift mesh smaller than diameter of your tip.

When ready, slowly apply pressure to unit. I pull up and slowly spin the T-handle as the pressure starts to try to eject it and finally seals it. Meanwhile the deadman nozzle you don’t have is closed.

The valve on the hose to the bottom is a bleed that helps you bias the air/media.

I need to check my computer. I might have a manual.

I checked my desk top and I do not have any of the original literature on it for the TIP '99R.

The Brut 99H is the modern equivalent. Originally these were made by Truman and I recall they were the original supplier of the TIP '99R. I believe Brut bought out Truman.

Mine has what is called the "cougar" valve. Stolen image from net on what a cougar valve looks like. It uses the large nozzles.

I dislike the valve as you have to hold the nozzle with one hand while you wind the lever 180 degrees to open. It also is slow to turn off the flow off abrasive when closing.

I would prefer the "gun" style nozzle. https://brutmfg.com/product/38-special-valve-312500/ Note it is a different ceramic nozzle.


The picture above is what mine looks like except for the different gun nozzle. Note the valve at the bottom. This is the bleed valve where you can control the ratio of air and media.

The tanks used to come with a laminated instruction decal on it. I will go out to the barn today to see if the one on mine is legible and if so, will take pictures to post.

I am going on a road trip Monday to pick up a TiP(mfg by Truman's) sandblaster.I think it is a 150lb model but the tag is gone from the machine.It is from 2002 and looks to be in good shape.It will be a 250 mile round trip so I am keeping my fingers crossed.:lol::mad::sad::dunno:Price is $100...

Great info, thank you very much. I did some research and calculated out the CFM my 80 gallon compressor is putting out. I ordered a new valve assembly and some 1/8 inch new nozzles.
