I'd pass on that one. Not sure I would want a old non-working harbor freight jack at any price.

Hiball should be here soon with a definitive answer.

Those Jacks arent really too bad, Its fairly Heavy built. Just remember there will Likely be NO hard parts available (So inspect all Pump Pistons, Ram piston etc.) but I can source all soft parts, More than likely the Ram cup is shot so tearing into the Unit will be a Must. If i recall that jack can be bought NEW for around $250-$300 on Sale thru many different outlets.

Ok, I was hoping it would most likely be something simple like the overload valve lol Any estimate on the rebuild kit for it?

Wow, this is one I would sure skip, broken HF and heavy, AND still wants $40, no thanks.

My area this type of older really large jack doesn't have that many buyers, so good brands at fair prices do show up.

Theres NO way to diagnose the problem over the internet, There wont be a Rebuild kit but Im guessing $50-60 bucks for Every seal in that Jack, Maybe Less. Ive Probably rebuild 30-40 of those Jacks over the years and the Majority of them have desentagrated Ucups, Im not sure what type of cup they use from the factory but its Clear and prone to breakage. I guess it really depends on whether you need a Jack that has 5 tons of lifting force? That jack is Designed for BIG trucks... Not your typical Home Owner. Depending on your sitsuation it might be better to Pass and look for a Quality Hw/Walker/Lincoln/Weaver/Blackhawk/Milwaukee outside vintage Jacks you will always be able to source Soft/Hard Parts. Maybe you can use the Cost of rebuilding to your advantage in the Negotiating process?

Here is the Same Jack i believe, If you follow the PDF from the Northern site you will see a detailed breakdown. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_19379_19379#

Nope I dont need the 5 ton lifting, but if it might cost around $50 to get it working I'll pass on it and probably get the 3 ton from Sears. Thanks for the help!

Make sure to read the reviews on any Craftsman jack before buying, many are junk.

I was going to buy this one http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950188000P?prdNo=1 because I need the stands too

Just remember to Keep your receipt with any Import Jack Purchase, I dont care if its Torin, HF, Sears, Snap on, Mac, Lowes, Costco etc.... You are prone to receiving a bad one. Ive been clear with my reasoning providing pictures and Descriptions clearly explaining the Differences between the High End Jacks and the Lower priced ones. Im not saying that you cant accomplish a Job with Cheaper Jacks but they are Far behind in regards to Seals, Metal fitment, Working Valves and Manufacturer Support. I have over 20 Years in this Profession and ive seen the shortcuts they have introduced into these Products over the years.

Will do  I would like an older, USA made jack, but I need one right now and I haven't seen any on craigslist in a long time

$99 bucks isnt bad considering your getting stands, creeper etc.. What really makes me scratch my head is when people drop $300 bucks on one, Because its has some fancy sticker/color scheme.
