Snap On S4 Speeder Bent - What to do?

Hey guys, I was cleaning some old stuff up in the garage and I found my Dad's old 1/2 speeder. The only thing is it looks like someone might have used it to pry something maybe and bent it a bit. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, I've never even used one before, to see if it affects performance, but I imagine it will.

It doesn't look too bad in the picture, but the end of it is definitely bend. Is there anything I can do to straighten it back out? Or should I just throw it into the scrap bin? Lol

That *****. You can try to bend it out but don't think you will get anywhere. If it is only slightly off it will still give you a large problem because instead of the socket being dead center when you are turning it will be off by however much the bend is around the entire rotation.

You should be able to straigten it. Otherwise turn it into the dealer for a warrranty.

Snap-on pays for the shipping both ways.
Just email or call them about it.

You could try straightening it if you have a big solidly mounted vice.
But it wouldn't be easy.

I don't think snap on has to cover it because I'm pretty sure using the speeder as intended would never be able to bend it like that. But I would think they would cover it if you sent it in. Email them and ask them.

Hang on to it. Find someone with a press that is experienced at using it. I have seen my uncle straighten tools etc. that have been more outta-whack than your speeder.

If you know someone with a press, they can fix it. Or heat it and beat it out on a anvil.

I've had good luck straightening various tools with a vice and arbor press. I would never put the torch on good tool steel as it would affect the factory heat treatment. I have, however, used a torch from time to time on cheap wrenches to put a permanent bend in them, but these were all disposable tools.

Your speeder doesn't look too bad, and I think it could be straightened with a small arbor press and/or vice. Good luck with it.

I doubt they would warranty it cause its bent, If you really wanted to get it warrantied, take a punch and hit the ball that should break the spring,

use a vice
get 3 pieces of metal to use as shims
2 on one side and one on the other where the high spot is
you can tape the pieses to the speeder so you dont need a third hand
work it with the vise clamping and releasing little by little unrill you have it where you want it
