I am looking to lay a new sewer line. 130 ft from the house to the clean out. No major obstructions or any unusual turns or bends other that a section of an old 8X8 ft slab patio has to be cut out and set to the side.

What should the cost per foot be?

Just put new water lines and sewer lines in my 35 year old subdivision. We paid $14 per foot for hook up. There is also a rock clause. If they hit a big shelf, that requires jack hammer, it is quoted separately at that time.

You don't say where you are located, so there is no way to make an educated guess. If you are in New England, where the rocks grow like potatoes, it can cost a lot if you hit a rock, or worse yet, a vein of ledge. I have a local friend that digs as a side line and he charges $75 per hour for the machine and operator. I have seen him dig a 100' trench that was perfectly flat and straight without measuring. When he was done, all that had to be done was to put down a bed of sand and then the pipe. More sand, and the job was done in less than 8 hours, start to finish.
