Pawn shop score..again

Snap on wire cutter's...I paid $10.00, Thought it was a little high until I checked the site. And mine are new.

Great score, wrenchr, you got a great price, but damn, those are an absolute rip-off brand-new from Snap-on. $44 plus tax for a small pair of cutters you could buy at Harbor freight for probably less than $2.00.

I almost consider a tool like that semi-disposable, once the cutter goes dull, it's not really worthwhile to try and re-sharpen those blades.


I'll give Snap-On one thing, they've got balls to ask the ridiculous prices they do!

Knipex electronics nippers (or is that knippers?) run about 40 bucks, too.

Dunno why they're as expensive (or more so) than larger items in the catalog. Supply/demand? Marketing pixie dust?

If they go dull, Snap-on will warranty them with a set of new ones. I get all my wire cutters warantied once a year on average.

Hmmm. I have a pair of cutters I bought off the Snap On truck 20 or so years ago. They have long since been dull and a little loose at the joint. I need to find a local truck and get them replaced.

Personally, I'd rather have the $2.00 ones and replace every few years when I needed a new one rather than trying to get a $50 pair warrantied from a Snap-On dealer.

If you're a good customer with him, it's probably not going to be a problem, but I can see a dealer hassling you when you want to get a new pair because the old ones are dull.

But definitely a good score at $10 bucks

I bought the same pair at a pawn shop (*slightly* older vintage - handles are solid red) for a whopping $2. I gave them to my wife for Christmas as toenail clippers. She wasn't amused. But I sure was. I didn't realize their worth until I checked them out online a few months later....
