Has anyone contacted the winner to see why they paid more than what is available on the open market?

I have sold thing on eBay before for more than you could go buy it for at a local store. Pretty much everything I sell on eBay goes for 2 to 3 times what I paid for it. I bought a book about Evil Knevil for 25 cents a few years ago and it sold for $71.00.

The price other people pay doesn't bother me much, but think of all the injuries from using the wrong end of those screwdrivers.

Hell, I dug up an old beer bottle from my back yard and sold it on ebay for $75.

I was debating whether or not to sell it. Then I realized that the rest of the six-pack is probably still out there waiting to be exhumed. Ka-Ching!

5 or so years ago, I looked at a stack of magazines that were holding up a monitor and stuck them on eBay (about a dozen technical rags).

$1200 later, I called it a good week.

The funny thing is that they are pretty much valueless now. Go figure.

I've thought about listing "genuine Montana prickly pear cactus plants", and rocks since these are two things our ranch grows well and in abundance. As Barnum said "there's one born every minute".

wow, Have you ever noticed the stupider people are the more money they seem to have.

So, I must be one of the smartest people around?

It's pretty bad when the seller even says what it sells for from SO and they still bid higher.

Ebay's okay for stuff you can't find just anywhere though. I've bought most of my repair parts for an old South Bend lathe that I couldn't find anywhere else from dealers on ebay. Just have to watch the price and let some other fool buy it if it gets too high.
